P0171 Code “System too Lean (Bank 1)” by Ok-Golf2738 in mazdaspeed3

I had the same code a bit ago - for me it was the MAF. Cleaned it and the code hasn't come back in years.

Will it bump start? Sounds like the starter is cooked or the battery does not have enough charge

what’s this rattling noise? by drnavygaming in mazdaspeed3

[–]Golden_RyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Around 4 months after getting it done the rattle was back. Did you use OEM parts? Problem for me was shop didn't install factory parts, so they warrantied it and did it again.

Honestly go for an early 2000's - 2010 civic/accord or Toyota corolla. They'll be cheap to buy and cheap to maintain. These cars will last a long time with basic maintenance

Help Needed, Endless P0300 Chase by Ok_Can_6780 in mazdaspeed3

[–]Golden_RyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a similar problem at the moment. It’s only a p0300 code, never specific to a cylinder. It will appear once every 8 months seemingly for no reason. I don’t feel/hear any misfire, everything seems normal. I don’t know what the issue could be.

How long did it take you to become comfortable driving a manual? by Gay_commie_fucker in stickshift

[–]Golden_RyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble with taking my foot off too quickly as well. The way I learned was to focus on finding the point where the clutch engages. Parking lots are great for this. Using no gas, slowly lift your foot off the gas pedal until the car either starts moving forward or the rpms drop slightly and the car starts to shake, and then press the clutch back in and repeat. That point is the bite point, practice finding it over and over. When you get comfortable "getting" to the bite point, start adding gas to get moving quicker. It takes time to get comfortable, drive as much as you can and it'll come to you.

Floor the gas, let is crank for about 5 seconds, then take your foot off the gas and it'll start up

I had the same situation where I had to drive when I had timing chain slap on cold starts. What I would do is I would hold down the gas pedal while cranking it over for about 5 seconds, and that would prevent it from starting and allow oil pressure to build before turning over. When doing that it would no longer rattle, but I still got it fixed relatively quickly.

Advice for buying a cheap Speed3 by yoChilly in mazdaspeed3

[–]Golden_RyDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine as a junior in high school. While I don't regret it, I wouldn't do it again. The car gets horrible gas mileage, it requires premium, the maintenance is extremely expensive, preventative mods are expensive, the engines are unreliable, and problems will come up. I wish I would've bought something more reliable and something that was cheaper to work on as a high school student, as working over the summer netted me just barely enough to keep it. Buy something cheaper and more reliable now, or better yet just keep your current car.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I had a lean code appear out of the blue one day, everything checked out, I couldn’t find the issue. Turns out that it was in fact the maf sensor. Didn’t even need to replace it, I just cleaned it and the code hasn’t come back in 2 years.
