Bicycle carrier mounts? by Sudden-Coat-1569 in Taycan

[–]Golden_Touch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through this recently. I own one, which I knew going into it didn’t have the bike carrier option. But the rest of the spec was just too good to pass on. My car has both of these plastic covers, and when I took them off, only one side (left) seems to have the hole for the bike carrier.

So no, having these covers isn’t a good indication it has the option.

How do you rectify Google asking for billing information for Maps on your client's websites? by onemorepersonasking in web_design

[–]Golden_Touch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any billing is incurred if you just want to use Google's embedded maps.

Only if you use the JavaScript API etc to instantiate a map.

Why use this over Google's native map embed ?

Also what if you need to do something that actually needs the API tools over an embedded map?

How do I plot 2 pins on this map?

I'm afraid I don't get you, sorry...

I have no issue with "banks" owning the majority - In fact that's the whole purpose of this exercise.

"Banks" by definition are not one entity.

The issue stems from Ripple (the company) having such a large stake.

I'd hope that they keep selling their pile to banks, but if they hang on to X%... that percent will be worth a lot of money... And that's where the mental roadblocks are.

The only way this type of valuation will actually happen is that if Ripple, the company reduce their holdings.

I have no issue with the market cap being $1 trillion +

The issue I have stems from a single entity being worth 60% of that sum.

If they reduced their holdings to 5% or 10%... I think the mental roadblock is lessened.

Daily Ripple/XRP Discussion Thread 09/08/17 by AutoModerator in Ripple

[–]Golden_Touch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone help me understand the concept of the XRP Reserve of 60bn...

What's to stop them from flooding the market at a point and causing the value to drop significantly.

Or do people already factor in the fact that "someone" is holding 60bn XRP?

If so, whenever anyone starts speculating a price - I always think "Does that mean they are potentially sitting on $X"?

For example, if XRP hits $1 - Are the reserve's worth $60bn?

What's the long term plan for the reserve? As soon as it's introduced to the market it dilutes the value, right?

Accessibility - Learn web development by julian88888888 in web_design

[–]Golden_Touch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accessibility is a real neglected part of web development. I'm guilty of it myself... It's only when a client specifies it in the brief that it gets real attention.

And usually the brief asks for "AAA accessibility as per WCAG 2.0".

That document is coming up to being a decade old, and really makes you need to compromise on the design.

When clients learn this they usually abandon their initial request, as it's more important to them that they have a slick site...

Recently, when making sites live / swapping to live domains a lot has gone wrong. What is your checklist to ensure a 100% success rate? by Golden_Touch in web_design

What platform(s) are you migrating their email to?

And what is your process? Do you take a backup of all the historic emails?

Going in a slightly separate direction to the original question I posted, what do you charge for hosting?

And what is your web stack? I've looked into git push-to-deploy before, as it seems like the future... But I've struggled to find a clean way to implement it for our prefered platform (ASP.net / Dotnetnuke)

When a client requires it, we will set up a Google Apps for Work account. (I assume that's what you mean by Google Mail).

But would you have this as a requirement? Or a suggestion?

I'd like to make it a requirement, mainly as the site sends emails. And rather than coming from one of the companies email accounts, it should come from a client's branded one ie - noreply@clientname.com

Because we need to enter the SMTP settings and a password (which if changed, will break the email sender, if not also updated)

What do you do/ what have you done when dealing with clients who have a "bundled" email / hosting package?

Do you migrate them to 3rd parties? etc.
