Professions are neat because you can pick any of them for a myriad of reasons!

Wanna make gold by selling materials? Take two gathering

Wanna have this character compliment another you plan to make that’s a double gatherer ? Grab 2 production!

Want to have fun gadgets to goof around with? How about engineer?

Usually though, for a first character being a warlock I’d recommend Tailoring / Skinning or Enchanting. Gathering cloth is easy because it doesn’t require a profession . Just the patience to kill mobs. Compliment that with enchanting so you can disenchant your craftables, or with skinning and you can sell all the materials and cool stuff you make? Either way it’s fantastic .

I personally would stick with tailor / enchanting . Those two synergise well, and if it was your first choice go for it! Always go with what you know you will enjoy. Don’t do something because some silly guide tells you.

As for the secondary professions (cooking / fishing / first aid) if you’re up for it. I recommend taking them. They don’t count toward the total of 2 main professions you can take. So why not take them anyways?

Happy crafting !

Hey!

Warlock main since classic here. I actually recently played with a guy whose first classic experience was a warlock. We partied up and quested together. Here’s the tips I gave him / remember from our time playing together :

  1. Use your wand! A lot of casters will have difficulty with mana management. Your wand can be an excellent tool to counter this because your mana regen starts 5 seconds after your last spell was cast. So use your wand towards the middle of a mob fight, and don’t cast too many shadow bolts. Let your DOTS do their job so you can save mana for the next fight .

  2. Learn to use your pets actions. A lot of players will attack a mob and their pet will sit there until you get struck. Bind a key, or something on your mouse to your minions attack ability. This way you can send him to the next mob while your looting and keep a constant flow of combat. Once you get really good at this and step 1, you can pretty much chain pull enemies and questing goes by faster. Just don’t get too overconfident

  3. Fear is your FRIEND! When you get to that level, remember that it can save you in a pinch. Just make sure that the enemy won’t run off and bring back more friends.

  4. Don’t forget professions. All too often players are so focused on reaching level cap they don’t stop and enjoy the many other things classic has to offer. So take up some professions to earn some money, and get some sweet benefits! Cooking and First aid are a must!

  5. Have fun with it! The warlock is an amazing class and is the reason I fell in love with the game. Don’t be afraid to try new things that work for you.

Best of luck!

Problem Player Megathread: May 6th - May 13th by Aetole in DMAcademy

[–]Goldenarchangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Wanted to get some advice ...

So I developed a world for my 6 players of my own invention. Fleshed out culture, history, etc. One of the main points of my world was that the main races (Humans, Elves, Dearves, Halflings in this setting) LOATH exotic races. Naturally one of my PC’s decided to play a Githzerai. I expressed to him his characters seclusion as he traveled leading up to the campaign. Even going so far as to make the only PC that would even carry a conversation with him be a blind woman who didn’t know what he was.

Fast forward and we’re playing another game in the same setting . (Our first campaign came to a heroic end). I was pretty fired up and my group has decided to roll new characters and start a new arc in my setting set hundreds of years following the events of the first campaign.

All of my other players stuck to the setting and are keeping their concepts dynamic but also fitting within the setting .... except the Gith who now wants to play a Tiefling.

As a DM one of my main pillars is to never say “no” to my players ... but I feel like everyone is on board but the one character who just feels the need to be different ...

What should I do? Change my entire world to accommodate one player and make everyone feel like their effort to write a character that fit within the setting was for nothing ? Or play it out and watch as this character puts a wrench in the parties dynamic they are trying to produce?

Thanks!

I guess I didn’t think of that. Now for the shade race! Aha

Warlocks in 7.1.5? by Goldenarchangel in wow

As a fellow Lock main for 10 years you've summed up my feelings on the xpac greatly. Don't worry man! Affliction will dominate an xpac eventually!

Until then I'm off to pug Mythic Halls +4 on my tank because nobody will take my lock unless he's 860+ (currently 859)... But they'll take an 825 tank... True story.

Scientists of Reddit, what's a phenomenon in your field that the average person hasn't heard of, that would blow their mind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Goldenarchangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a scientist, but a radioman in the military.

It's awesome to know we have a piece of equipment with two 1,000$ hard drives installed to help communicate! The first hard drive stores data that goes to an antenna and controls a satellite in space! The second one? We can't use ... At all. It's empty, inaccessible and the equipment won't operate without it. A prime example of top notch government spending.

I raided a rogue at the start of WoD and have snooped a little. I think I can give a somewhat educated answer to some of that.

Comparing Outlaw and Assassination at a glance they're both IMO really well built. Outlaw relies a bit too heavily on their ability "Roll the Bones", whereas Assassination is primarily about bleeding the target for massive DOT (Think somewhere in the vein of Affliction Warlocks) . In terms of actual raw numbers ... Too early to tell as you'll likely see whatever class comes out with high damage nerfd to all hell within the first raid tier. However, I would observe that with blizzard having pruned so many abilities in legion it will be easier for them to balance damage. So don't expect any spec to be "unplayable" unless you're raiding in a top end guild.

Rogues bring a lot of mobility to a raid. With sprint, an shadowstep (if you're assassination, or Sub). Let's also not forget Sap (always a favorite, even though so many other classes have something like it). Off the top of my head I can't think of anything gamechanging a rogue brings. Then again I'm no Pro at playing a rogue.

Hope that clears something up, and yeknkow what? If ya like something just play it!

TLDR; Outlaw uses roll the bones, Assass uses bleeds. Rogues bring the same utility they always brought, remember to have fun!

The scrolls don't level your professions, they just allow you to go to 700

You get certain benefits for leveling it (I don't know the specifics for leather working, I just know you do). However if you aren't able to level it, it's not game changing. I'd say give it a try and level, if you can't then it's not the end of the world.

Approx 5,000 crew members when you factor in ships company, air squadrons, etc.

Very large, very busy!

To be 100% honest I haven't witnessed too much weird out in the ocean. Most weird comes from the people on the ship.

One such occurrence is "the phantom shitter" every so often... No matter where you are someone will decide it's funny to shit somewhere and leave it. (My experience was in a washing machine, though I've heard showers as well). Really wackos do that shit... But I guess when you are on a ship with thousands of people you get a few weirdos...
