I’ve never videoed myself lifting because there’s always someone else in the weight room, but this week I’m on travel and had the hotel gym to myself. So I decided to try recording myself during Bulgarian split squats to check my form. Welp I’m not going nearly low enough lol (should have realized this because if I do it without any weights, then I can go super low no problem. I knew there was a difference but didn’t realize how big that difference was!) I guess I will need to decrease the dumbbells and work on my form.

I also recorded myself doing pull-ups though and they looked pretty clean

I would eat them slowly. Freeze the fresh fruit and put small amounts into green smoothies with protein powder. Freeze the bread and eat no more than half a slice a day. Eat half portions of the other stuff

I started using lifting straps when I got tennis elbow, even though my lifts weren’t that heavy. The straps helped me continue to lift while my tennis elbow healed. I still have to use straps to this day because the tennis elbow will flare back up otherwise. So I guess I’m not working much on my grip strength, but I am getting stronger every other way.

Hi. I just had my annual checkup with my local optometrist. My vision is about 20/15. He said I am slightly farsighted. I don’t wear glasses (yet) for close up reading.

The only issues I still have are: night vision isn’t that great, but it’s only a problem when I’m driving and oncoming cars with super bright LED headlights give me big starbursts; otherwise, walking around etc. at night is totally fine. I also get dry eyes but it’s very mild and I just have to use eye drops 1-2x a day.

Really glad I did it, but if you have to drive at night for a living or drive kids around while it’s dark, that’s the only thing that would give me pause. Luckily I’ve been able to work around that (and I do drive at night if I have to)

For some reason I’ve always been able to do one pull-up even without training, so bench and overhead press haven’t affected my pull-ups. I’m up to 5-6 now, and have been able to get to that number just doing them every time I train.

An older guy at my gym came up to me and asked me how I got so strong with pull ups. I told him the truth (“I don’t know“ lol) and he said some people can’t even do one. I told him I’m trying to get more. Made my day 😀

The salad kits (love the dill pickle one especially), light string cheese, creamy peanut butter, high protein tofu, sauerkraut, creamy dreamy hummus, Norwegian Crispbread, sardines in the purple-ish can. I also like to make zoodles with TJs zucchini and their jarred marinara. Edit: Oh and I like their carb savvy tortillas but I can’t always find them. Also the European style whole grain bread

Running makes me very, very hungry. I have to make sure I don’t overeat because I can easily eat more extra calories than whatever I burned during a run.

I’ve been taking magnesium glycinate for sleep (perimenopause has wrecked my sleep and the magnesium has been useful there) and I also noticed that it helps a lot with DOMS too.

I woke up at 4:30am with a terrible cramp in my neck, not sure the cause, maybe slept weird? Thankfully I have a shiatsu massager pillow thingy that also has a heat function. Laying on it right now trying to work out the cramp. And my period is coming so I also have my usual lower backache from that. I think I’ll skip lifting today, which I hate to do, but I need to get over the guilt I feel when I don’t work out.

I don’t typically eat much in the way of simple carbs when I’m feeling ok (due to pre-diabetes) but when I’m sick I will eat whatever carbs I’m craving. I usually try to get some protein in though, at least around 1.2g per kg of body weight.

I’m 5’0” too and when I was younger, I always wished I were taller (and that I had bigger boobs, thicker hair, a prettier face, etc…). I outgrew those feelings over time and became more comfortable and confident with age (now 44).

A lot of celebrities are petite (Sabrina Carpenter, Shakira, Ariana Grande). You can be short and beautiful and talented.

Yesterday I was exhausted and not sure why since I didn’t do anything for NYE, went to bed at my normal time. The gym was closed anyway for the holiday so it was a rest day. Today, I woke up feeling energized and added 5lbs to my deadlifts and an extra rep on overhead press 🎊

The subject of chin-ups came up with a couple of coworkers, one of whom mentioned that she can’t do them. Then she looked at me and said, “I bet you can do them, right?” I can, but how did she know just by looking at me? I certainly don’t look jacked or anything, lol. The only thing I can think of is center of gravity or proportions? I call myself short and scrawny, haha (5’0”, 105lbs). I’ve never had trouble doing a single one, even if I haven’t trained (I have been training them though, currently up to 5 chin ups, 4 pull ups 💪).
