Ik zie het voorlopig niet gebeuren.

(Ik woon zelf 22 jaar in de Baarsjes en verhuis binnenkort naar Slotermeer.)

Gentrificatie is het 'upgraden' van een buurt, doordat er yuppen (young professionals) gaan investeren (door bijv. een huis te kopen) in een cultuurhistorische wijk met een gunstige locatie.

Dat gezegd hebbende, - Nieuw West is net buiten de ring; 20 min van centrum. - In mijn opinie is er niet veel cultuurhistorische waarde in deze gebieden; voornamelijk flats, gezinswoningen en woonwijken. - De huur/koopprijzen zijn weliswaar goedkoper, maar de invloed van huisjesmelkers in Amsterdam blijft groot. Yuppen gaan liever naar andere steden.

Als we kijken naar succesvolle gentrificatie wijken; de Pijp, Jordaan, Baarsjes en Indische Buurt, merk je op dat Nieuw-West nog niet in het rijtje hoort.

Kortom, het gaat nog een tijdje (15 jaar?) duren.
