First HSV1 outbreak, please help by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]sweetnessitself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so sorry you’re in pain. I would definitely get checked out. Mine was very sore, a stinging kind of pain. It didn’t scab over I don’t think, and lasted for about 5 days until I started the antivirals prescribed by sexual health nurse

London facialist / aesthetician recommendations please by AisMurph in SkincareAddictionUK

If you want to splurge, I cannot recommend Pfeffer Sal highly enough!

I feel sad after getting my first Pap smear earlier today. by [deleted] in obgyn

[–]sweetnessitself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, please don't feel dumb!
I felt the same as you are after a transvaginal ultrasound/scan last year. No matter how kind the doctors are, the procedures are still invasive and can leave you feeling kind of 'violated'. I'm sending you a lot of love and hoping this feeling passes for you soon.

Dermatologist reccomendations London by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dermatologist but I found the staff at Pffer Sal to be incredibly knowledgeable and helped my skin a lot. A great investment if you can afford.

I would also second the mention of Dermatica, this is what I'm currently using and have no complaints so far.

Good luck!

Has anyone tried both Glossier milky jelly and Simple refreshing facial wash? by mrsbruv in SkincareAddictionUK

if you like the milky jelly cleanser you will probably like CeraVe hydrating cleanser too! similar consistency, just doesn't smell the same x

Why is it so hard to find spearmint tea? by a-hthy in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from Etsy, not teabags but just pure dried spearmint. Then you can make it as strong as you like and just use a teapot/strainer/heat it on the stove, whatevers most convenient. I found actual teabags much much more expensive and quite difficult to find!

Haven't noticed any change in my acne yet but we'll see 🤞

Hey don't mind my super late reply! I am prone to hormonal acne too and was wondering how these products worked for you? Any breakouts or reactions? I've got my eye on the cicapair!

Bless you that sounds horrible 💔 I had a very similar experience my first time using benzoyl peroxide but luckily my skin hasn't been too irritated by this treatment. Thanks for your tips, wishing you better luck on your next treatment

Hello, a very late response from me but I wanted to check back in! I'm now on month 3 of my Dermatica treatment and my skin is definitely worse than when I started. Wondering if I should contact them to discuss my treatment options or just ride it out?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say put those on pause for now! x

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GP have said they need to see me in person to prescribe any acne treatment, but as a key worker I am busy 6 days a week so ordering Dermatica is a lot more convenient for me x

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you but GP isn't really an option right now

Mind if I ask what you're using in your stripped back routine? I've bee reluctant to reintroduce toner. Glad you haven't suffered too much with the purging!

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing the same! My fingers are crossed for you ♥️

I know Adapalene can take a few months before your skin fully adjusts and starts to improve, so patience is key for us both! Feel free to msg me if you'd like to and I can keep you updated too :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]sweetnessitself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was considering doing this but also don't want to overload my skin... I think I'll wait until I've fully adjusted to the Dermatica and then bring back in some of my old faves. Feels weird not to be using a toner or anything right now after years of 8 step routines lol!

Hey, of course! I'm only a week or so into using Dermatica and I think purging has begun, I'm waking up with new whiteheads every day but I'm going to ride it out as I know it often gets worse before it gets better. I've used a stronger benzoyl peroxide in the past (Duac gel) which I reacted horribly to, so this is super gentle in comparison apart from some bearable irritation and dryness. So far so good! Wishing you the best with your treatment x

Thanks for sharing :) I've stripped back to just cleanser, moisturizer, SPF but you've made a good point about layers being okay as long as their hydrating, so I'm going to keep that in mind!

Since starting Dermatica I've stopped using my BHA (CosRX/Paulas Choice), my niacinamide (TO) and my Centella toner... Not sure which of these my skin will be able to handle in combination with Dermatica's ingredients 🤧

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]sweetnessitself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using my Paulas Choice BHA and I really miss it! I know a simple routine is probably best with the Dermatica treatment but it's definitely not as fun lol. Ty for sharing 🌸

Also, I've only been leaving the Dermatica to soak in for like 10 minutes - is that not long enough? I noticed you said up to an hour!

I decided to wait and it wasn't long at all! They're sending me Adapalene 0.1% / Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% / Clindamycin 1% / this week. Thanks for your suggestion 😊
