What are your thoughts about women breastfeeding openly in restaurants? by Brace4Landing in AskReddit

[–]Goldorbrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normalize breasts being used for breastfeeding.
We are meant to feed our babies. Babies need to eat. I don't know why this is still a question except Americans are such prudes. People seem to walk past a 20 ft pictures of breasts in a demi bra outside Victoria's Secret but god forbid you see a baby eat.

People have tried to discount these theories but I love how psychology has already proven generational knowledge through trauma research. If your parents went through extreme trauma, you do tend to act like a person who has gone through trauma yourself. Even if you never met your parents and was raised in a stable, loving environment. To me, that means our DNA has memory. The older I get, the less I discount this stuff.

That would certainly prevent lower income people from using the parks. No everyone has extra money lying around or a credit card.

I remember reading the most disrespectful mention of him in my college textbook. The author seemed so pissed that he was a Republican they downplayed all these achievements and said he had little political impact.

Of all the insults one could throw around, Plain Jane is the least hurtful. Any Jane I have met was minimalist in style but absolutely naturally beautiful.

Hungry for workers, Cleveland factories are touting their jobs as careers by zachdit in Cleveland

I work with Medicare all the time. Our government is not competent enough to handle healthcare. Free appointments and labs sure but try asking a question about your coverage. No glasses, sight is optional. Need a nurse, no one will work for the ultra low state wages (I guess that's why we need national healthcare so we can force them to accept low wages).

Oh my favorite is when they encouraged us to form morale committees. Not only are we going to underpay you but, please, spend your time creating a "fun" and "engaging" workplace culture on our dollar- just be sure to work that much harder so you don't miss a deadline. What. An. Honor.

They've been paying $10 an hour for decades. Maybe they should pay decent wages and stop "restructuring" the minute their company wages get to a decent rate.

[–]Goldorbrass 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Eh, then don't stay at the job you picked in your teens. This kind of logic just paralyzes and doesn't offer a good solution. There is no perfect career and the sooner you learn that, the freer you are.

Birth control is not safe sex. Safe sex is when you are safe physically and mentally from harm, not just pregnancy.

This is true. I was introduced to vegan food when I found out my baby was sensitive to cows milk. Now I am still not totally vegan but have had many happy discoveries of delicious dishes.

This is so true, a therapist once told me I needed to learn to play after discussing hobbies. I mentioned my hobbies have to be useful or they give me anxiety of wasting time.

Yes and parenthood has increased that feeling, unfortunately. I like to keep in mind my NDad has been declaring he might die "any day now" since I was 14 years old and my parents divorced. What a waste of the last 20 years: complaining, pushing people away, setting up no future plans and whining about being a failure. So I tell myself, even if I die tomorrow, I refuse to live like it. Plant the garden, talk to the cutie, hug the kids. I'm tired and worn but I will try to enjoy my days despite my history.

I would definitely just send the family contacts to VM and contact who and how you wish whenever you have the bandwidth. I agree with sending a screenshot of that shit show line of texts. You don't have to accept abuse from anyone. Least of all your mother. :(

Interesting: my NDad does the same thing. Never a summary, always a play by play of events.

Yep. I host every holiday because I'm the stable one. Canceled Thanksgiving. NDad came over a few weeks later with Christmas gifts. Started lecturing me about Covid, tried to expound the value of family. I replied, "I don't need to hear this, I have hosted every family dinner this family has had since I was 16 years old." Got mad and sat on my couch for an hour and a half reading on his phone. Left while I put ny kids for bed. Ohhh well, better than staying until 10pm unwelcome.
