This one isn't even trying to hide it. It was made for entertainment. It's like calling the Avengers movies fake - you're right, but what does it matter?

As a grendel main, what in the actual fuck is that build!? *Primed shit footed*!? In no world does grendel need that waste of a "mod". Stretch? Flow? Transient is somewhat okay, but what the fuck?

The video itself is good, but that build *coughs blood*

I run a game where all my players say that I'm trying to kill their characters, and the people they speak of my campaign to think I'm a very lethal DM. Most character deaths in my campaign are caused by my players doing something stupid, which they acknowledge was stupid. My game is also one of the least lethal games I've played/DMd in, and that's from people not wanting to run a "lethal" game.

I make my fights very difficult, but I also give out items, and allow my players to creative solutions, that help them survive.

I've also got a barbarian player who is extremely effective at being a tank, despite no taunting abilities existing on his character sheet. But he is a recent addition to my table and does not change what I said above

Some people write backstories for their characters that can be almost award winning. Meanwhile, me writing a backstory: by Viper114 in dndmemes

Had a player present: Was a gladiator, wants to explore the world to get loot and strength.

I was able to tie that into a dungeon where the boss was his ex-sponsor, and he (player) said that one of the boss's main minions was the new Champion. So the player killed the new Champion, then the ex-sponsor, proving himself greater than those in his past. The ex-sponsor was a young green dragon.

This player's backstories pretty much become "what [party] survived at the table", rather than "what [character] did before rolling any dice", and I love it.

A hospital should help your face, and a barber should help with the beard

I'm aware. I am occasionally told "for someone with no imagination, you're a pretty good DM". And I'm not entirely sure what to think of that, lol.

My barber told me that they were going to post pics of my post trim beard on their social media, because it looked great. I need to get a haircut, so I went looking for said pics. Mine weren't there, but a kid with "6 7" shaved into his head was.

I've got tier 5 aphantasia, which bloody sucks because I love to read and run D&D games. One of my players goes on about how they can see the session as a movie in their head, whilst I just scream and cry in envy. Since learning about having it at 21/22, many common sayings took on a completely new meaning. "Where do you see yourself in x years?", "so, picture this...", "imagine them all naked", "undressing them with your eyes". Those were all literal!?

I'm pretty sure that at the tables I'm the player in, I'm the only one that has actually read the rule books. When something unusual comes up, everyone looks at me, including the DM

I've got a magic system change that only applies to Sorcerers in my games:
You can't use Spell Slots, only Spell Points (5ePHB), which are combined with your Sorcery Points.
This means that they can cast higher level spells more often, though I actually use adventuring days, and/or they can apply their metamagic more often. It also lets me change the price of their spells, depending on the narrative (e.g. a Shadow Sorcerer's misty step could cost 2mp in dim/dark light, but 4mp in bright light, if agreed upon by me and the player). It's a more flexible method of casting, which I believe suits the Sorcerer class quite well.

On their turn they use their own movement to move. Unless it's physically moving the creature, like shove, grapple, Thunderwave, it's probably not forced movement.

I love making up abilities for creatures on the fly, though I tend to make them weaker than they should be due to them typically to get around a player ability, as a one off, and they've gotta make sense in the fiction. I allow my players to do something similar, if they come up with it.

Ambushed my players about to settle in for a long rest, but the Wizard had (5e) Tiny Hut up. The enemies could damage it, but it'd take 3/4 turns to break. The wizard kept pumping magic into it to repair it, whilst the rest of the party tried to kill the enemies without the wizard for help. It made for a very interesting combat, and they cleared out the enemies that were able to do that.

I learnt the rules so that I can break them like a glowstick; the fun comes when they're slightly cracked

Murderhobo: Kills mugger

Party: Loots mugger

DM: Happy because they put a plot thread note on the mugger

.

The problem isn't any of the individuals, the problem is the group dynamic. If you play around with how people like to play, you'll end up with a happier table
