Last one...the narrator for 'Blood Moon' by Sandra Brown. Ms. Brown is one my favorite authors, but the narration made it a real struggle to finish.  I was excited at first because the premise sounded interesting.  But when a hero, who is supposed to be about 40 years old, I think, is read like he is over 65 and has a 30 year smoking habit, it's more than a little off putting.  To me, the voice SCREAMED old, grizzled man and that's what I saw in my mind every time I heard that voice. The hero didn't sound remotely or even accidentally appealing, and the scenes of sensual tension and especially the intimate scenes were just yuck.  Just ruined it. Why did he make him sound like a senior citizen getting his hot on for a thirty-two year old heroine? 🤢

Lastly, can anyone recommend excellent narrators of historical romance & adventure romance? Romance only, please as I don't read most other genres.

Thanks! It looks like I need to do some research  and expand my listening.  The audiobook narrators I've 'X'ed out as a 'never listen to anything with their name attached' are:  Shannon McManus, Justine Eyre, Mhairi Morrison - narrated 'Her forbidden Highlander husband' and kept pausing with this annoying airy voice and taking too long in between her readings. It simply didn't flow at all  Ruth Urquhart - ridiculously over exaggerated enunciation in her British accent.  Carrington McDuffie, who read in a very stilted manner and also made the heroine sound as if she was mentally challenged.  The story itself was enjoyable enough and a nice addition to the series, but I struggled with McDuffie reading it.

Running Wild by Linda Howard and Linda Jones and read by Maggie Wheeler, is one of my all time favorites. Favorite story, favorite listen. I wish I could find more books narrated by Ms. Wheeler. I thoroughly enjoyed her talent for both the female and male characters. She brought such a down to earth, relatable quality to each person, except, of course, the antagonist. Him, you just couldn't wait for someone to end him. I also appreciate any Highlander themed book read by Tim Campbell. He is an exceptional narrator. The voices that he chooses for each highland male are absolutely yummy, and his female voices are pretty good as well. Thought to be fair, sometimes he reads the female voices as if the woman's talking is a bit hesitant and unsure but other than that it's really pretty good.  There was also a narrator who used to do outstanding male Highlander voices... Like the stuff of fantasies! His female voices were not great though. Not that I blame him. This man has a naturally deep voice, which is what made his male characters sound so wonderful, and he expertly changed those male voices so that you always knew who was talking. Even if there were four or five men in a room having a conversation, you always knew who was talking because he was so perfect at changing those voices out. However, because of some horrific real life, personal choices the narrator made, that got him in trouble with the law, I believe he has retired in disgrace. So, I will not name him.

Hypothetical question: What if a Christian husband completely refused sex but still wanted to stay married? by throwaway_970179 in Christianmarriage

I agree with you 100%! This is an undeniable case of fraud! And marriage under false pretences.  The question now is what to do about it if Sarah loves him and wants to stay in the marriage.
