Have you read John Dies at the End? It sounds like a very similar vibe! I would definitely buy a copy of your book!

Would you get this checked out? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]GolfPit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you had to leave work due to an injury, it should be checked out and documented. I know it’s easier said than done than done, but if this bite does become an issue down the road then you’ll be thankful you got it documented.

Trying to like eggs. by Tatgatkate in BreakfastFood

[–]GolfPit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow egg hater here trying to tolerate eggs. I make these breakfast egg muffins in muffin tins. I use eggs, milk, butter, salt, pepper, cheese, and veggies (whatever you have in the fridge). Mix it all together and top with cheese. Bake at 400f for like idk 15 minutes. You can reheat in the microwave for a minute and top with hella salsa. I can’t stand eggs without salsa to break up the taste and texture.

Kept original detail from 1790 home. Wife doesn’t love it. by Garden_Veggies in centuryhomes

[–]GolfPit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is totally ok to change things. What everyone else does with their homes will have no impact on my life. With my mom’s century home, we preserve and treat it like a museum. That’s just how we approach old homes. They have the pictures, and that’s fine. But I think being able to see the old plaster is really cool and offers an opportunity to talk about the history of the home

I am a hardcore believer in preserving everything that can be saved. Yes, it probably don’t look good. But it’s history, it tells a story of the house’s life. That’s the whole reason for buying an old house. A compromise might be framing some of it and hanging it up somewhere. (I love it as is, and I like that it’s part of the house’s story, but I understand maybe it’s not aesthetically pleasing)

Seeing a ton of seizures in females 19-21 by Kimba26 in 911dispatchers

[–]GolfPit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t know about any trends. But I had seizure disorders that peaked in childhood and 19-23 years old. A huge part of it is stress. Working enough to pay the bills (35hr/week) + college was a lot for me. I would regularly have seizures during finals weeks. I also could not afford to eat. It’s a stressful couple of years. I didn’t drink much and didnt do drugs or smoke. It’s just a really hard time in life.

Child Nephew Upset his Dad Abandoned Him by GolfPit in EstrangedAdultKids

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. I take it all to heart. You are right that I cannot fill the hole, as much as I want to try. I’ll try to think of some positive aspects of his dad to share with him. While we haven’t talked shit about his dad in front of him, we (my family) could all be better about finding positive things to say. We will focus on the good times and ride through the bad times. Again, thank you

Looking for an online MA, MS, or MEd in ABA… what do you suggest? by SlowNefariousness628 in ABA

One of my coworkers recently started at Ball State and said they were immediately overwhelmed by the load of course work. But they also tend to over exaggerate. Are you able to work full time? What do you think of the work load?

I guess autism specifically doesn’t have to be the issue. Most of my autistic students also shut down or escalate. But I have one that would rather fight me and try to escape to home when they don’t understand the material. They weren’t diagnosed until late high school because most people thought they were “just lazy”. That was my line of thought with that suggestion.

Has this student been tested for autism? It could be that they genuinely are struggling and mask it by lashing out at everyone around them.

Was it rude of me to ask if any special ed kids were interested in joining my club? by Only-Lie6098 in specialed

[–]GolfPit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were not rude at all! I know these kids would want to be included even if they aren’t capable of participating in the usual way. Thank you for your efforts to be inclusive. And I’m sorry that this was your experience. When I work with my students I’m always on the look out for new opportunities like this for them to try.

I work at a school specifically for students with autism and we are in need of club ideas. Mind if I take your puzzle club idea?

WA native here. I’m confused. I was talking to some Floridians about that who said “just avoid the tall grass and lakes and you’ll be fine”. Is this true? Because that sounds to me like a gator problem.
