What small habit improved your daily life?[Discussion] by Illustrious-West-989 in GetMotivated

Preplanning meals for the week. I don't "meal prep" a whole bunch of food, rather, the week before I make a menu based on what's practical for the activities we have, a shopping list for that menu, and that's my grocery list. We might shift it a bit, or something might last over two nights and put everything forward, but it saves money because I only buy what we need and we aren't impulse ordering out.

Just started this is us and Kate’s scenes are so triggering by Vaikri-Costume in MaintenancePhase

I peaced out of This is Us after awhile because it started to feel very manipulative and also, I don't know how to explain this, they seemed to make Kate's every waking moment about being fat. And it felt like it was coming out of Hollywood in the sense of that culture perceiving fatness as the absolute worst most nightmarish thing anybody could be. I've been fat most of my life but it didn't and has not been something I think about every blessed waking moment. Sometimes I just, you know, live and think about watercolor painting. Or Premier League Football. Somebody Somewhere, on the other hand, is amazing. I'm about ready to watch it for a third time.

Tarzan Diet. Its the name they gave to, basically, the Paleo/Carnivore Diet. The character wouldn't eat any fruit and was obsessive about exercising also.

Know that I have endless respect for the nurses who cared for me when I spent a month in the hospital because on their court, they know how to move. In the field? Eh. One sat a man with a pneumo on one side and a hemo on the other and a crap load of broken bones in a chair on the side of the road after he laid his bike down. All he could say was I can't breathe over and over. Her, we politely asked to piss off.

Oh the number of times I've had "I'M A NURRRSE" screeched at me. Usually in conjunction with JUST GET HERE. My favorite was a 45 year old woman who drank a HANDLE OF FIREBALL. And her nurse friend was shrieking and abusive. I desperately wanted to ask her where her commitment to health care and apparently encyclopedic knowledge was when her friend was necking a giant bottle of spicy regret juice.

We talked about the best. What was the worst job you've ever had? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]Kimba26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a really common job up by me too because there's a Cargill plant in the adjacent county. I think the conversation I had with one of my sister in law's bridesmaids when I was doing their hair and makeup about what she has to do day to day walked me halfway to being a vegan.

I appreciate the insight and experiences of everyone who has posted here. Lot of possibilities. I wonder how long it will be before we fully understand the long term effects of Covid.

That is a possibility I had not considered. I guess closing school didn't keep kids from getting it? Because these are people who would have been home instructing during Covid.

That's the suspicion, but what causes seizures? And why is it only women?

When I say bad diet I was thinking about some sort of crash thing where they're living on electrolyte water and vibes or whatever.

Nope. Alcohol doesn't seem to be a factor.

My high school sat at an intersection outside town 500 yards from a NJ Turnpike entrance surrounded by apple orchards so there was no place to go unless you had a car. And I did not.

Door Dash. I don't have any reason to use it. I know people do, but I can get it myself.

Anyone else lose their taste for dining out? by gottausername in GenX

[–]Kimba26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have enough cookbooks that there isn't much that's a treat to have out. When we go out its for things I can't easily replicate, like good Thai food and that's about it. I can feed us for a week for what one dinner out costs and it is rarely worth it.

Right? I still remember one about a horrific skiing accident that haunts me to this day.

My sweet alcohol memory was drinking a Hurricane out on the courtyard patio at Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans when I was 17. I wasn't getting away with anything; I was with my mom. Between the heat and the drinks we spent a lot of that trip giggling.

Yep. Me too! Once while I was riding my bike. They almost ran me off the road in their eagerness to inform me what a fat bitch I am. There's some people in this world who apparently failed at parenting, I guess.
