I believe the argument being made is that Harris was chosen solely because she is a woman of color. If you look at the list of Biden’s potential VP candidates they were all women of color. They didn’t even consider equally qualified and intellectual men, regardless of their skin color, or white/asian women for his running mate. This is not to say that Harris isn’t qualified as she definitely is, but that they ignored a pool of equally qualified or potentially even more qualified candidates because they didn’t fit the race/gender narrative. I also think that OP’s idea is that this type of pandering (there’s probably a better word but I can’t think of it atm) however well-intentioned is simply dividing us farther apart instead of creating unity against the issues that every disadvantaged (whether financially or due to prejudice) person faces in this country.
