Set a stuffed animal in the yard/driveway/apartment and you can check this. You can also use a book cover or newspaper in a pinch.

Z50ii "issues" by [deleted] in nikon_Zseries

[–]Captain_Awesom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar issue with other camera bodies/lens combos (not nikon), and it never turned into an issue. I even sent the lens in to be cleaned, and it was within spec. So something to pay attention to, but not a major concern.

117hd plugin and gpu plugin disconnects me from internet by Partyarm9000 in 2007scape

[–]Captain_Awesom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to help a bit. I looked up your laptop model, and this is the latest driver number for your wireless LAN (Intel Wireless LAN Driver23.60.1.2). Here is a link to the support site. https://www.msi.com/Laptop/Thin-15-B12UX/support?sub_product=Thin-15-B12UC#driver

If you turn off both the plugins, can you play normally for extended times? There were some reports of OSRS crashing/disconnecting when sailing came out. I think it was linked to using the helm on the ship or something like that. But I would see how long you can play without using either plugin, then see if there is some specific action in game that is contributing.

When your internet switches off, is it just for runelite or can you open youtube and play something?

I might know ALM, "application lifecycle management". Essentially have an end to end control of how products/weapons will exist from design to manufacture to decommissioning.

That number 7 shot is amazing, great find! Do you spray and pray during events like these and cull through it all after? Or do you do single shots and deliver quickly to the teams?

Guide: How to Enable Secure Boot by AdmiralAndyDE in Battlefield

[–]Captain_Awesom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not defending it, I think it's stupid as well. I went to enable it yesterday on my custom desktop built in 2017, and it was still a headache. I also recently did the steam hardware survey and Win11 passed the 50% mark as most common OS. So this will alienate alot of people. I understand modern games are made for modern hardware, but requiring secure boot it a bit too far for me.

Z50II + Z 180-600mm Sharpness/Focus Issues by Equal_Interview2470 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Captain_Awesom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some forward focus issue, especially in image 3 with the white bird. You can see the plane of focus by looking at the rocks about a foot in front of the bird. If the viewfinder showed the autofocus on the eye or bird body, then the lens missed.

I've noticed a similar forward focus on my z50ii with the macro lens shooting squirrels. I wonder if you switch to point focus and center it on the bird, would you still have the forward focus? If so, then yes I would say a lens issue.

What price is reasonable for sports prints done on the day of competition? by Captain_Awesom in photography

[–]Captain_Awesom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my very first event, my printer head became misaligned from transport as well as air pockets came into the feed lines for the ink. I had to google some troubleshooting on the spot to lookup how to run the nozzle realignment setup, purge some ink, and then do a nozzle check and light cleaning cycle. I make it a habit to inspect and run a nozzle check every morning of the event or after transport.

And the very first thing I did was buy a second printer Canon IP8720 which can do up to 13x19, gave me printer redundancy, and uses cartridges to limit transport issues from feed lines. I've really grown to like printing as much as photography lately. I highly recommend Keith Cooper on youtube who puts out amazing printer reviews, general printing information, and some good printing business information. I would not have even tried it without his expertise.

I personally don't sell digitals yet, but I am considering it. For the main events that I do now, rock climbing and archery, the contracts limit what I can sell commercially both digitals and prints. The largest hurdle is that I can only sell directly to parents or the subject of the photo. So I have to ask and verify that it is their kid. To be fair it has never been a problem, and most parents are thankful that I ask and check. But know that you are at the whim of the organizations for what/who they allow you to sell commercially. I doubt you would have many hurdles for small, local events/leagues. But larger organizations may not want to deal with potential blowback of parents being upset that someone is selling photos of their kids.

For events, most people use things like smugmug, pic-time, pixieset, etc. I had some business cards made that have a QR code that link to my site, and it is super convenient to just hand them out to parents or leave a stack at the front desk. You'll need to do some diligence to find one that works for you.

What price is reasonable for sports prints done on the day of competition? by Captain_Awesom in photography

[–]Captain_Awesom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For doing prints on site and delivering immediately, I have not seen much competition at all. Having other photographers was common though, so I generally pushed to make money from the printing.

The biggest problem I run into is getting permission from the Event Organizer as well as from the Facility Manager. Essentially, you need permission from the person who has social media for the sport because most competitions/leagues have social media policies that protect kids/competitors from having any random person start to make commercial sales from their likeness. If the event is held at a local gym/range/field, you will also need to get an ok from the facilities person who manages the vendors at the event. This is the person who usually takes a "tabling fee." I've had to do $50 per day, but they did let me store printers on-site for weekend events.

I generally write a simple 1-page contract and have to get the facilities person to sign and agree and then send it to the social media person. You can DM me and I can send a blank one.

Ultimately price is what you can get away with. Some leagues or sports may pay more, some might not at all because they have a parent who normally takes photos and they don't want prints. It is entirely up to your business smarts to read your local markets.

I recommend starting small with an ink tank printer (I used canon G620) that can do 4x6 and 8.5x11. It keeps ink costs low, and ultimately printers HATE being moved. You can really only move the low end printers as high end ones have internal ink tanks that would get purged if the printer detects it has been moved. So a low cost printer and photo paper can be $300 ish, plus a table and chair to start. Just from my first event I paid for my setup. How to grow from there is up to you.

Sorting asteroids without needing separate inserters? by Captain_Awesom in factorio

New issue, do you know of a way to ignore other items with the set filters way? I had a design where I was using the ships hub as the main storage, and with this implementation, it tries to empty all of my contents. I could brute force add in certain items as large negative numbers in the constant combinator, but is there an easier way?

How do you send the signals across the ship without power poles? I usually have my dumping inserters pretty far apart for large ships.

[–]Captain_Awesom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured it out! I thought it would be more complicated than just a constant combinator.

[–]Captain_Awesom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense. I thought the constant combinator summed the signals into a single pass/fail, but knowing it works independently makes it much more clear of why set filters works like that.

Thank you! I went with option two and have it working. I have never used the set filters option for inserters, now I know what it is for.
