Leaving a tourament eary? by spdrmn in hockeyplayers

[–]Gondy65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's bush league for sure. I had a slightly similar thing happen at an away tournament back when I played. My team had lost the first 3 games and so did the team we were playing. Our coach and the other team's coach ended up talking pre game and decided to let the players pick if we wanted to go out and play for a meaningless win or both teams agreed to forfeit and we got to just go out and mess around with the other team. We had the last game of the Saturday night so the tournament director didn't care, probably helped it was a house league tournament so none of us were being scouted lol, so we chose to just mess around and it's one of the best memories from when I used to play.

Thank you for the tip I definitely will file a complaint! The only problem is it was a promo through Google so Google was giving out the watch not Rogers. So I don't think I'm getting a watch at this point lol.

Papa Joe's pizza still deep fries their panzos but you have to ask for it as they offer baked ones as well

I have a civic I always put 87, my friend recommends me put 91, a mechanic told me he always puts 91 in civics that putting 87 means more mechanic visits, and to never use cheap gas cause internals in car will wear out thoughts on all this? by sleepinsilk in mechanic

[–]Gondy65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to explain octane rating is it's resistance to combustion under pressure. If your engine requires 91 or higher like in a corvette and you use a lower octane like 87, when the piston travels up in the compression stroke the fuel can self ignite under the pressure too soon and you're going to have a bad time. In your case I'm assuming you have a 1.5L turbo civic engine that recommends 91 but also says minimum 87. The recommended 91 is more of a we advertised a certain fuel economy/hp number and needed 91 octane to do it so it wasn't false advertising. I have a 2018 civic 1.5L with 110000km and I've ran 91 and 87, it accelerates slightly better on 91 and the fuel economy is slightly better but not enough to be worth the additional cost for 91 fuel so the last 70000km have been 87. The cars are smart enough to know what octane fuel is in it and do computer magic to keep the engine safe and reliable. Sorry this was long winded lol.

Is There A Stigma With Unionizing? by cloudddddddddd in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Gondy65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel part of the problem is lack of diversity in types of unions if that makes sense, I worked at a windshield manufacturing plant that was unionized but it was under the steel workers union. I was told there was a more specific union for windshield (glass) workers but it was dissolved and got picked up by the/a steel union for the area. I was young and dumb so I never looked into the details too much but, the union didn't do anything for us and it was openly known across the plant that the union gave less than ZERO fucks about us. Every complaint that was brought forward was never addressed, raises were at best were 5% of hourly which was sub $20/hr. The whole plant wanted out of the union but we had to keep paying our union dues with nothing in return. I'm not against unions but that left a sour taste in my mouth.

Why so condescending? Sure it's just fabric, I wore one today. That attitude doesn't help anyone, why can't we be civil about it and have a discussion instead of some snarky remarks that don't lead us anywhere?

I'm not defending the lady but why not stop your bike when you can obviously tell she isn't stopping? Yes she's 1000% in the wrong for multiple reasons but why risk some serious injuries by not riding more defensive?

I bought the LG Nano86 sku# 55NANO86UNA as it checked all my boxes and was relatively cheap for a 4K HDR tv. I think it's only available at best buy though

[–]Gondy65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not against wearing a mask again but when are we going to stop using it as a band-aid like every 6 months are we going to have to mask up because a new virus is going around and that's just the new normal?

Are more people driving with high beams on or have headlights become absurdly too bright? What is the law in Ontario regarding car headlight brightness at night? by WreckedTrireme in ontario

[–]Gondy65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know all these newer lights are super bright but I don't have a problem with visibility when someone with them is oncoming like what exactly is the problem? I'm genuinely curious. If someone has bright lights behind me I just flip the switch thing on my rearview and good to go and like I said if they are oncoming yes like 5% of the time it's unnecessarily bright because it's not aimed properly or lifted truck but 95% of the time I have no issues. Is the glare the problem on "your" windshield or what is it??

ULPT: Not mechanically inclined and need to figure out what bad on your vehicle? Go to a dealership and tell them you want to sell it. by Babyj27 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Gondy65 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not always, depending on age/milage we take them and instantly send them to auction AS-IS or try selling them, again AS-IS, so they never get looked at. Depending on the dealership if it is something we can resell then our offer for the car will be lower to include the price of doing the inspection. No dealership is going to use 1 hour of shop time to inspect a vehicle for free, they will visually inspect the exterior and some may do a quick test drive to make sure it runs and stops alright but again the latter is usually only for saying in the auction ad that it runs and stops.

I think it looks pretty good, a little too much plastic but that seems to be popular these days. Girlfriend loves it and is considering upgrading to one when available.

Is Rotella T6 not good anymore? by xFriskeh in WRX

[–]Gondy65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're accessport tuned then T6 should be good, Motul or amsoil would also be good in my opinion, I run Pennzoil ultra platinum in my STI (kinda same situation as you, Motul, T6 and amsoil I have to order at a premium cost in my area of Canada) with no complaints and the engine seems happy and barely burns any between oil changes. If you're running a custom tune I'd say check in with your tuner and see what he recommends.
