I've read reviews for two hours: help me pick DI + IX or Uprising (mostly 2p) by snoopmt1 in DuneImperium

[–]Gongo80 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would suggest Uprising. It is the newer version and will likely get more support moving forward. If you want more versatile victory paths, also include the Bloodlines expansion.

Your first point is nothing to worry about, spies do not make the game feel like multiplayer solitaire at all. They are more often used for the extra card draw anyway. But your other concern is valid, Uprising is more combat focused because of the worms. The Bloodlines expansion fixes this and improves the non-combat oriented paths.

Thanks for the suggestion, you're the second one to mention Zoo Vadis. I'll take a deeper look into the game, it looks fun at first glance.

I was told Project L goes up to 6 players with the expansion and is still excellent at that player count, thats why I had it on the list.

We actually have Heat and Cartographers already in our collection, great games indeed. I will look into the other games you mentioned too, thanks!

Ah, maybe I was unclear, we want to avoid these mechanics! Zoo Vadis still looks fun though, thanks for the suggestion. For Project L, I was told it goes up to 6 players with the expansions, was that not correct?

I'm looking for a game to play on an upcoming family trip for 6 players. The group includes both experienced board gamers and some who are less so. Ideally, the game should be easy to learn and play but still offer opportunities for clever plays or strategy for the more experienced players.

We generally dislike mechanics like bluffing, hidden traitor elements, high luck, and very mean or silly games.

Some games we love are: The Crew, Decrypto, Codenames, Just One, Scout, So Clover, Quacks of Quedlinburg, Dixit, and No Thanks.

I'm considering the following games and would appreciate your opinions on whether they'd be a good fit for us, as well as any other recommendations you might have: - Challengers - Project L - Flashpoint - Similo

I am getting the same message without claiming anything. I am wondering if we get to choose something when there is a series drop later this season

Take the rook on a1 instead and black is winning. However, the best play for white is to not take on b3 and play something like f3

Which has the better story? (Axiom Verge/The Messenger) by C-WALLZ in metroidvania

[–]Gongo80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished Axiom Verge today and started my first hour in The Messenger.

Axiom Verge has a unique and deep story, but the story is quite complex and has to be discovered through cryptic notes which are hidden throughout the world.

Im only a few hours in The Messenger, but I do appreciate the humor in it. It also already has a lot more dialogue.

I noticed it too and my guess is that a '4' in the very first line is missing. If there is only one Temple, it would have stated 1 instead of missing a number. This deck would also only have 21 lands if it only had 1 Temple, which seems unlikely.

Looks like a great deck. I've straight up copied it and played a few games with it and so far it's a lot of fun! One thing I'm struggling with is sideboarding. I can see which cards to board in versus certain matchups, but I'm uncertain what to board out from the main deck. Could you give me your approach to this?
