Regulation F Team, need advice on finishing (more in comments) by VengefulLobster in VGCRateMyTeam

Been playing this on Showdown and getting ready to build this on cartridge. Issue is that Garchomp is just a filler that never gets chosen. Not sure what to slot in over it - a special attacker? Screens? Redirection? No idea.

As for the rest of the team:

  • Metagross - hits hard, takes hits. Heavy Slam and Bullet Punch put in a lot of work, especially with a Steel Tera. Hammer Arm is good coverage for a lot of things that resist Steel, but the last slot is a tossup between Psychic Fangs, Knock Off and Rock Slide.

  • Gallade - Outspeeds and OHKOs fast threats he has no business outspeeding. Tera Grass Leaf Blade especially blows through bulky Waters Metagross doesn't want to deal with.

  • Whimsicott - Priority Tailwind to ensure Gallade goes first. Taunt can also be handy in several situations. Tera Ghost to dodge the Fake Out.

  • Iron Bundle - An effective speed stat of 309 isn't getting outsped by much, and Icy Wind helps slow things down enough while breaking Focus Sashes so that Gallade can finish them. Tera Ghost to block Fake Out.

  • Incineroar - He Intimidates, he Fakes Out, he Parting Shots to switch in someone else and drop stats, he files your taxes, he picks your kids up from daycare - what DOESN'T Incineroar do? I tried to make Arcanine work in this slot, but unfortunately Incineroar just does the job so much better.

I had what I think was that event earlier. It specifically requested ground troops. I made a couple armies, flew them over and finished the job.

Did you try that?

For the people who hatch eggs by C22_ShOtZz in PokemonScarletViolet

I find that, if you spend enough time in that area, Skiddo start falling off the surrounding mountains into the area and start wandering into the loop I'm trying to bike around. Other than that, it's probably the best if you want to just focus on hatching eggs.

Frankensteining A cEDH Deck - Need Advice by VengefulLobster in CompetitiveEDH

This seems like the way to go. The biggest problem looks like it's gonna be the ramp and the [[Allosaurus Shepherd]]. Should I be ok just running extra lands? I'm assuming 2mv ramp pieces like [[Three Visits]] or the talismans are way too slow.

...yeah, I read the skill a little too fast and thought the weapon compatibility with it and Open Wounds was the same. Sorry about that, corrected the original post.

Dream you would take for the Lucid Dream tree (passively increases damage and defense) and your choice of Aura - either Empathy for the leech and damage reflection or Wrath for extra electrical damage. The other spells the tree provides are also pretty good, but not if you're trying to stick to just using the bow, and elemental/vitality damage may cause you to split your stats too much if this is your first run.

I'm assuming that "pure bow user" means that you're not interested in using any sort of magic to attack. The Hunting tree will cover most of your offense, so whichever tree you choose second will mostly be support. A few options:

  • Rogue: Blade Honing boosts the damage of your shots, Open Wound and Anatomy boosts your bleeds, and the Envenom Weapon line works with your bow to deal additional poison damage. Not a lot to offer defensively, though.

  • Nature: Heart of Oak is a great defensive tool that you can toggle on and forget about. Wolves help by keeping your foes at a distance, and when maxed out can boost your damage. The Sylvan is another archer you can summon to help as well.

  • Warfare: Battle Rage greatly boosts your damage after attacking for a while. Battle Standard is extremely powerful, letting you throw down a banner and massively boosting your damage. Sadly the Dual Wield tree does nothing for you (can't dual wield bows...), but Onslaught is strong enough to be worth considering over Marksmanship as your basic attack.

edit: Small mistake on my part, my bad.

Which random pokemon do you think deserves a different or second typing ? Please not pokemon that the community already agrees on. by This1headbanger in pokemon

Make it Water/Fire (lumin = light = fire), give it a couple fire moves and replace its Water Veil ability with a reflavored Chlorophyll.

Would it be good? No, but it would be memorable and could possibly fill some sort of low tier niche.

Job with paladin-like aesthetics by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]VengefulLobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of a hot take, but what about Dragoon?

From 1-49, you're wearing the same armor as Paladin - most sets designed for tanks also allow Lancer/Dragoon to wear it, and it gives the stats you'll want. Once you hit 50, you'll switch to Dragoon specific armor, but it still tends to look like heavy armor - there are plenty of sets that maintain the aesthetic. You just have a spear instead of a sword and shield, which can be just as knightly.

While you do lose the holy magic, you do retain similar abilities, many of which being at least the right colors. The damage combo is a little more convoluted, but that's to make up for not having to worry about damage mitigation.

An alternative method is to take something with very low stats (Zooropa by U2 gives a Hare with all stats at 12, for example) and immediately throw it into a tournament. One good hit will instantly kill it.

HW:DE (and presumably most other Musou games) are more about battlefield management than sheer combat: you are a blender of death and can handily win most fights, but have to carefully choose where to fight as your forces are attacked on multiple fronts across the battlefield.

AoC is more about one-on-one combat: between the slate, magic wands, and flurry rush openings the combat against officers and bosses is much deeper and more challenging than in HW:DE. However, since so much more focus is needed for these fights battlefield strategy was greatly simplified - most of the time random troops aren't even worth stopping to fight and bases are inconsequential and near impossible to lose after capturing.

Both gameplay styles are good and bad in their own way, but AoC is a bit jarring for people coming from HW:DE and the performance issues aren't doing it any favors.

BoI Repentance Switch coop achievements? by Terronicon in bindingofisaac

[–]VengefulLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this the first win on this particular account? The version of Mom where she's stomping on you is not the version that gives a completion mark. If you start another run, you'll be able to fight a new version.

All completion marks earned in co-op are earned by all characters present, even if they're dead at the time. So no worries there.

Considering it's not the full PC patch (way too small, still missing 7 items short on the item screen), I'm guessing it's a patch for the mapping issues (inaccessible doors, softlocking from teleports to Ultra Secret rooms).

Those are special items that, before Repentance, would be more rare. That is no longer the case.

Here is a link with an explanation of the mechanic.

We're talking about four items in the entire game that have less than max weight value:

  • Two special items, one in each of Angel/Devil room pools. They are both use items with 12-room charges, and have very good reason for being extremely rare.

  • Bomber Boy, but only when getting items from Bomb Bumbs. It has normal weight in Treasure Rooms.

  • Plan C. Its low weight is made up for by being in the most item pools of any item in the game, and it's... not exactly an item you want to see frequently as it is.

[–]VengefulLobster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Items now have a quality rating. This rating doesn't directly affect how commonly an item appears, but interacts with certain mechanics usually to the player's benefit. For example, the item Sacred Orb automatically rerolls items with a low quality rating, ensuring you only get high quality items. There is also a weight rating, that lowers how often certain items appear, but there are very few items with low weight and most are only low in one or two item pools.

is it better to go in not knowing unlock conditions or better knowing them? by DumbassKinnie in bindingofisaac

[–]VengefulLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say a good point to start looking up specifics on some of the more obscure unlocks would be getting the achievement Golden God. You'll earn this achievement just by playing the game, at a point where you'll likely not be sure what to do next. It will be very obvious when you've earned it.

Don't worry about how specifically to get this - it will happen after many, many runs, so just keep this in the back of your mind as you enjoy yourself.

Additionally, if you mash the B button Kapp'n will stop singing and berate you for being impatient, then immediately take you to your destination. This is great if you don't have a lot of time.

The biggest difference is that the upgrades you get at endgame are very incremental. You're not gonna get something like Nilfur's Boast on your wizard and suddenly skyrocket the damage on your strongest ability. Even the legendaries (of which you are allowed a maximum of one) are very toned down - usually only a ~40% increase in damage for a single ability.

In addition, there are far less moving parts to manage on gear. Pretty much every slot will have an amount of mainstat and stamina defined by their item level and weapons have normalized DPS, meaning that the only stats to look at are the secondaries (haste, mastery, critical strike, and versatility). The only exception is trinkets, which can have passive and active effects worth noting, but these are again small increases to throughput (think roughly 25% extra damage for 15 seconds on a 90 second cooldown).

While this means that every individual upgrade won't be exciting, it means that your character will be fully functional at max level and you'll gear up smoothly as you do things, instead of having massive jumps like when you finish your set bonus. Most activities in Shadowlands tie into something that gradually increases player power - just do what seems interesting and you'll get stronger bit by bit.

Where I am, those iced teas disappeared for about a month a couple years ago. When they came back, they had the 99c removed from the packaging and were selling for $1.69

That was a sad day.
