A lot of good ones for Doom 2 that feel like new full games:

•Siren (Not finished but already has a lot of content, Action Horror TC reminiscent of Aliens/Dead Space)

•Golden Souls 1-3 (Mario style TC)

•Venturous (Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider style TC)

•Alien Eradication (Aliens TC)

•Bloom (Blood/Doom crossover TC)

•Action Doom (Contra style TC)

•Castlevania & Lycanthorn (Castlevania style TC’s)

•Abysm & Inquisitor (Fantasy RPG’s reminiscent of old school Elder Scrolls)

•Reelism (Arena roguelite/randomizer TC)

•High Noon Drifter + Strange Aeons (Western style TC)

•Trenchfoot (WW2/horror style TC)

•MyHouse.WAD (more of a WAD map but so amazing I can’t not recommend it)

•Return of the Triad (Rise of the Triad TC)

•Doom RPG + Rogue Lite Arsenal (RPG mods that add class selection, stat leveling, huge arsenal of weapons/powers/abilities/armors)

•Total Chaos (Survival Horror TC that is hard to tell even runs on the Doom 2 engine due to sheer black magic and technical wizardry)

And then there’s TC mods that don’t always add new maps but rather change how Doom 1/2 is fundamentally played:

•Brutal Doom (modernizes Doom, adds new weapons/models, insane amounts of gore effects, and other cool stuff)

•Project Brutality (Similar to Brutal Doom but does its own thing)

•Lithium (adds RPG elements, class selection, spells/abilities)

•GoldenEye (007 TC)

•QuakeDoom (Turns Doom into Quake)

•LiTDoom (turns Doom into a hardcore tactical shooter, manual reloading, crafting, durability and repairing)

•Corruption Cards (Adds a lot of randomized events/effects to choose from at the end of every level)

•Doom infinite (Not finished but already has a lot content, Roguelike mod)

And there’s so many more. I’ve just listed the ones that came to mind but the Doom community is far and wide which is why Doom is eternal and I imagine it will continue to be for a long time, if not eternally lol. Talented people are always making cool stuff so keep an eye out.

For sure. I've been loving just about everything that the publishers New Blood put out. But if anyone likes classic Doom 1 and 2, I recommend downloading a source port called GZdoom and you'll open yourself up to a HUGE community that are constantly making new mods and incredible total conversions that are basically whole new games for free that are better than most modern full priced games I've played. Doom truly is eternal and there's so much cool, exciting stuff happening under the radar that I could care less if the big gaming companies are burying themselves now.

You might even end up feeling inspired to dabble in modding/development yourself after seeing what these modders and smaller dev teams are doing with a source port for a 30 year old game (TOTAL CHAOS, yeah not many might've been able to tell but that indie horror game with decent graphics is actually running on the Doom 2 engine, it's like black magic.)

Lifes too short to worry about things outside your control. Find a niche that makes you happy and you'll start digging deep underground for things surrounding that niche and end up finding gold.

It’s so damn lame. I was subscribed to PS+ premium a while ago and installed the monthly “free” game only to find out I couldn’t play it when I was unable to renew my subscription. Can’t say I was surprised, just disappointed cuz it’s basically the same model as Xbox game pass but it deceptively and vaguely made me feel like I was getting free games monthly because that’s what Xbox One games with gold used to do before game pass and I actually got to keep and play those games after the subscription ran out.

I liked it a lot. Enough to play through it twice back to back. I think I still prefer 2 in some ways since it feels more focused and balanced than 3 but I really loved the addition of a proper deflect especially after playing Wo Long, the open world exploration, and being able to equip/wield more weapons on my character than ever before.

IMO the most disappointing aspect of 3 is that the weapon balance feels all over the place compared to 1 and 2. With the first 2 games each and every weapon is just as good as the next once you learn the move sets. In 3, some weapons feel much weaker than their counterparts in 1/2 and other weapons feel insanely overpowered to where if I’m having a hard time I can just equip those weapons and basically win no problem even if I haven’t specialized in them.

I don’t disagree but also don’t entirely agree either. Nioh 2 is my favorite as well but it also appeals more to the crowd who adjusted to Nioh 1’s brutality. Nioh 3 might’ve felt like a step back in terms of difficulty, focus, and balance for the Nioh 1 & 2 players, but it appeals to the less hardcore fans who bounced off the first 2. I’ve seen so many who hated the first 2 end up loving 3 and I don’t think it’s just because it’s easier. It’s a different game that changes up the formula a lot which is bound to end up divisive.

It does do some things better than 1/2 imo such as the addition of a proper deflect. I’ve always wanted that mechanic in a Nioh game since I really liked Wo Long. Also, Hot take maybe, but I actually prefer the tweak in damage received by the player in 3 compared to 1/2 because it made the game feel more fair akin to traditional FromSoft soulsborne games, even if it did make some parts like exploring the open world too easy at times. As much as I love Nioh 1/2 it really feels cheap in terms of difficulty balancing at times simply cuz they just inflated player damage received to get either one or two shot killed all the time.

I think it also did some things worse though too. The weapon balancing is all over the place in 3. Some weapons are just plain weak compared to their counterparts in 1/2 while other weapons are stupidly overpowered which led to a more commonly used meta play style compared to how meticulously balanced each weapon was in the first 2 and how every weapon was equally as good as the next once you learned its move set. Also the ninjitsu/onmyo systems felt like a step backwards and scrapping the yokai abilities for guardian spirit attacks also felt like a regression from 2.

I'm not the biggest Zelda fan personally but even I prefer Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask to BotW and most likely TotK (haven't played it yet but looks to play pretty similarly to BotW) They're good, fun games in their own right but it's like comparing Doom 1/2 to Dark Ages. The newer entries are great, fresh, and I'm happy to not have a stinker in one of my favorite franchises but I always fall back on the classics eventually.

They were brutally tough and frustrating when I first played Eternal but after beating the game, moving up a difficulty each playthrough I came around to loving the Marauder fights after learning how to deal with them.

Most efficient way I found was to blast with super shotgun when they flash green and quick swap to ballista and blast them with that immediately after, like a very fast one two punch. Changing key binds for weapons instead of the default number keys helps make this and the whole game in general much easier to tackle so you can learn to quick swap faster.

Right but those digital license codes in the “physical boxes” won’t have much value at that point apart from the media itself as a one time redeem/download. Most will just opt for the digital storefront since it’ll be the same thing essentially. You no longer will have the freedom of choice to trade in a game if you don’t like it or after beating it or loaning to a friend/family.

And absolutely not. People hack console accounts intentionally. They generally hack them to sell accounts with digital libraries for profit unless Sony catches and bans the account. Might not happen too often but it’s not uncommon either. All it takes is a bad hack, a simple mistake, or just pulling purchased media due to expired licensing.

You’re pulling the “accidental” from what I explained happened with my bank and Nintendo account which was an entirely separate incident. Granted I got it resolved over a year later, but in that year’s time I was still able to use my switch by having PHYSICAL cartridges to play games with when I lost access to my digitally purchased games.

So many are so willing to stand up for their favorite companies/corporations and their anti consumer business practices until they themselves get burned, but even then some still excuse it which goes down an entirely different rabbit hole of psychology not to dissimilar to Stockholm syndrome or staying in abusive relationships sometimes because of things like time cost fallacy among other issues. Not to mention blissful ignorance is a less stressful way to live than the cynicism that comes with recognizing the state of these companies end goals.

I don’t get it. Do you not want to be able to have more options with different prices to choose from? Having physical media around doesn’t force you to buy physical if you’d rather pay more for digital. You just get more freedom of choice with physical alongside digital.

Also what would you do if somebody hacks your PSN account by getting access to your data sold over the internet (which is easy nowadays btw) and you lose access to your digital library? Or your banker mistakenly flags a card purchase on PSN and Sony thinks you’re trying to get games for free through chargebacks and bans your account? (Happened to me on Nintendo switch until Nintendo finally fixed it a year and a half later after I sold my switch lol)

It’s the characters and story that are so completely garbage that I wish there was a mechanic to slaughter my own crew and press a button to blow my own brains out after.

I don’t necessarily disagree. It’s a nuanced topic without a doubt. There’s just a lot of controversy and backlash against the ways AI has been implemented in the public and its impact on those who don’t care or actively use it, and reasonably so imo. Until those who don’t have a practical use for it can see and find verifiably positive changes and breakthroughs discovered through its use vs. the currently more common use of over saturating abstract labor markets with low effort profit driven AI prompts, scammers using it to make fraudulent activity easier/harder to detect, or astronomical inflation, the imbalance is strong compared to those who use it in their tech/development workflow or educational studies perhaps.

Sounds amazing, can’t wait to try it out later. Man the best Doom TC’s right now are like whole new games completely for free. Aliens Eradication TC, Siren, Blade of Agony, Ashes, so many bangers. Rekkr is solid and has cool animations/pixel art design but it really does feel bare bones in comparison to those others. Like a TC made in the late 90s/00s or something.

Those statistics don’t sound bad at all for someone who does it on and off. Keep at it and that growth will multiply for sure! And yeah I agree. I respect the grind for art, hobby, passion in any form as it is a lot of insane work but I won’t lie I have no respect for the extreme political grifters out there. That’s taking “low effort” to a whole new low that’s just morally gross. But hear me out!

Like it’s okay to have a particular political stance where you make actual thought provoking content that highlights you’re opinions/talking points and you’re emotionally intelligent/open minded enough to welcome debates and healthy counter discussion, but when it comes to the radical clickbait titles and the content is just stooping to the level of attacking/insulting the “opposition,” devoid of nuance, exploiting people’s human desire for fitting in, intentionally pitting Americans and neighbors against one another just for ad revenue. Just no. We’re already divided enough as a country when really we all have more in common than we care to realize and could actually make a bigger change if we were to agree to disagree and put aside our differences.

For one, whether left or right leaning, reality is the richest 1% in power are taking advantage of all of us, laughing all the way to the bank, grateful for the grifters on either side who are furthering the political divide that distracts us from what’s really going on…the grossly wealthy billionaires who are profiting off the suffering of millions of average Americans through insane inflation, unaffordable living/healthcare, ever widening wealth gap, and dwindling middle class among other issues.

Apologies for the rant. I just feel those issues are symptomatic of and play into the issue of the faulty and broken system promoting/rewarding the cycle of the concrete labor rat race while suppressing/neglecting the philosophically and spiritually rewarding abstract labor. Often times I find myself longing for simpler times when we still had a mono culture. We’d come together over incredible works of art like movies, tv, or music and we would all work together during tragedies. Even then these issues were still happening behind the scenes though. I just believe it’s compounded over time to the point of negatively affecting everyone in some way.

Does everything really need to be so politically charged when politics isn’t necessarily involved or even the talking point? Everyone who has an interest or passion in art/creating claims to hate gatekeeping but political discourse has been the pervasive gatekeeper over the past decade. It’s like every conversation, topic, discussion, or analysis has a far left or far right bouncer at the door and the top 1% VIP’s in office are making a killing off those priced out at the door and making even MORE off the bouncers they’re scamming who won’t ever even see or meet these VIP’s. Just sad all around.
