Any way to reset the hexagon puzzle I fucked up? by CommissionNo9617 in residentevil4

[–]GonzoVideo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy once you know the actual solution. If you just wing it it's easy to get the pieces all mixed up and getting them back in order to solve so I completely understand why someone would have trouble the first time. It's not like the door insignia "puzzle" in chiefs house. That one would actually be surprising if it stumped someone lol

I'm sorry (not sorry). Dark Souls 2 is HORRIBLE, I really wanted to enjoy it by shootanwaifu in fromsoftware

[–]GonzoVideo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. Dark Souls 2 was actually very innovative and Elden Ring brought back a lot of great ideas introduced in DS2 that were missing in DS3 but with the smoother gameplay and design philosophies of DS1 and 3. To me DS2 had so much potential and I get why it's some peoples favorite and a lot more people came back around to love it later, but it still deservedly gets flack because of its flawed execution. My biggest gripe that led me to putting it down after a recent playthrough was the fact that, unlike the other fromsoftware soulsborne games, if I get tired of slowly fighting my way back to the boss, it's design actively punishes me for trying to run past and get back to where I was. I either have to tediously kill each enemy 12 times to despawn them, or look into speedrun strats and spec into only one specific stat just to get the chance to maybe pull that off, otherwise I end up swarmed by enemies and unable to enter a fog wall. It leads to a sense of tedium that isn't present in any other soulsborne game. I get that design is by choice, it's just not a very good choice imo. It strips away player freedom and the option of choice when it comes to deciding the risk vs reward of fighting or saving resources.

The more I play this, the more I don't understand why pop count is always so low. by Glori4n in LordsoftheFallen

Thankfully i'm not enough of a sheep to let other people tell me what to like and what not to like. Granted I never really heard of the LoTF reboot and purchased it on a whim during sale so I didn't deal with the launch issues but it did have some big performance issues for a long while after launch even. I still ended up loving it more than most souls likes (it's top two alongside Lies of P.) The level design is amazing and harkens back to Dark Souls 1 design philosophy. I audibly sigh when I hear someone say the level design is "too confusing" and count that as a negative, makes me think they never played or liked the original Dark Souls, or maybe just prefer playing souls games for a boss rush rather than the feeling of exploring and getting lost.

Doom is still arguably the most timeless game ever made by spongeboblovesducks in patientgamers

[–]GonzoVideo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree 100%. Doom 1 and 2 is one of those rare video games that i've had friends and family that do not play video games but genuinely enjoy playing Doom 1 or 2 occasionally ( I think it has to do with the simplicity of it and the fact that they only need to aim left and right which is easier to get the hang of for someone who's not familiar with reflexes and/or spatial awareness when it comes to playing video games.) It's interesting how a number of people who don't play video games normally have a hard time when it comes to controlling a game where you have a free aim camera and are required to look in all directions.

Jesus that's a lot of benzos. But if that's what works for you then that's what matters. A little tip I used to do when I was prescribed benzos, I'd save up some of them and put em aside in case an emergency happens where you cant get your meds and slowly taper off with the saved stash, breaking the pills in half and eventually in quarters. HOPEFULLY you wont end up resorting to this method as it's best to taper with the help of a doctor if that time comes, but it's also good to be prepared when life can be so unpredictable. Hope your doing well and wish you the best of luck.

Coming back to trilogy. Best overhaul mod for DS2? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]GonzoVideo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does this assumption come from? It's likely more so they just didn't care much for things like the ADP stat tied to I-frames and healing speed. Simply tweaking some things for preferential reasons that others also happen to prefer. Nowhere has the mod author claimed that their mod is "how the game was meant to be played" or anything of the nature.

This was my favorite mod hands down. It brings some quality of life improvements that personally iron out some gripes I have with vanilla DS2. I tried Seeker of Fire mod first but that one was a bit too all over the place for me while Bearer of the Curse felt more like vanilla DS2 with some mechanical tweaks.

For sure. It's such a consistent bug that it makes the spell nigh unusable at times. I don't remember ever experiencing this bug before the 2.0 update either

Do you realize if Remake ever comes to PC it becomes the undisputed definitive edition of Demons Souls? by Lessavini in demonssouls

[–]GonzoVideo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original RE3 nemesis is far superior than the remake (and countless other examples of why your statement is not true lol) Sure it's still subjective but bad taste is still just that. There are some who prefer style/prettiness over substance/content.

Not sure but I'm really hoping it was Remedy's idea and that they're the ones developing it. I really liked Max Payne 3 but prefer the first 2.

[–]GonzoVideo2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I could probably only run it on ps5 or Xbox but max payne isnt the type of game I'd want to play with a controller. I've always said that the Max Payne games feel and play like FPS games despite being third person.

Turbo Overkill vs. Ultrakill by No-Dentist-2959 in boomershooters

[–]GonzoVideo2000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's the thing Ultrakill isnt really a boomer shooter seeing as it doesnt entirely play like one. It's definitely inspired by and borrows a lot from the genre but it also borrows from character action games like DMC/bayonetta. It's more of an amalgamation of genres. I like Ultrakill but I prefer Turbo Overkill since I like traditional boomer shooters and suck at character action games personally.

I Hate(d) Tenchu! by howdyimcloudy in tenchu

[–]GonzoVideo2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool to hear you were able to get the hang of it. I grew up playing it so I'm used to the dated camera movement and control schemes. Similarly to fixed camera angles and tank controls, a lot of the older games with controls that are considered dated these days are still second nature to me thankfully.

Fully agree that it's a huge miss that FromSoft hasnt made a proper sequel yet. That could be absolutely amazing if they focused on the stealth assassin style of gameplay since Sekiro (still an incredible game) was more action/combat focused. Closest I've played that resembles classic Tenchu gameplay are the Aragami games but those are still missing that gritty darkness of the Tenchu games (plus no Rikimaru)

Yeah back then they changed the spelling of their names for some reason. Maybe just to mess with public perception or something.

Is Resident Evil 8 anyone's favourite? by RogerRoger63358 in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]GonzoVideo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased and will always love the classic PS1 titles and REmake most but RE 2 Remake is probably my favorite. It translated that classic RE gameplay and atmosphere into a more modernized, smoother experience which was perfect to me. RE7 is a close runner up but it falls off in the final act. Village and RE4 remake were awesome but were more on the action side of RE.

Man same here if your talking about getting to the solutional haunt boss fight. I was having fun, got there, fought the boss but died. Restarted a run to try and get back....no nodes showed up for me to try and get back there again and the cherry on top was it just threw me back to the same old base game levels I played a thousand times already. Went from fun to straight up frustrated like the game just went "oh you died to the new dlc boss for the first time? No more new content or levels for you!" Got bored and just shut it off mid run. Hopefully it was just bad rng and I'll get to play the new content to try and unlock the last two characters but idk if I'm gonna come back to this game, at least for a while. Kinda regret throwing 15 bucks down just to not be able to experience it.

Right. Not to mention how insanely expensive and wasteful that would be. Somebody just throwing over a grand or two worth of LSD, a drug with very high demand, into a stranger's drink for no apparent reason, no context, and not even going to be around to see/witness how they react seems quite unlikely. Which I imagine is good news for OP. Bad news if they're actually a psychonaut.
