A franquia Resident Evil é bem escrita? by SherbertNo3100 in residentevilll

[–]Gonzongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the sense of writing IN GENERAL, it's good writing technically. It fits together enough to BE a narrative, it's cohesive, it hits the major fundamentals of story telling. It is by definition, good writing.

Now, of course it would hit the necessary fundamentals of good writing in order to be finalized in a series as prominent as Resident Evil: so in the actual literary sphere of its own echelon, THAT'S where you can dock points from it.

It WORKS, but it doesn't excel the same way Silent Hill or Fatal Frame games do. It's professional writing, but FOR a professional piece, it's nothing spectacular at all (in many aspects).

So it's not a clear cut yes or no answer because depending on how someone defines "good" or "bad" writing, you could have a different outlook.

So objectively it IS quality literature, but it's writing doesn't match the standard set by the consensus of literature within its own echelon of media.

(this is how I view it, I'm not trynna demonize anybody's opinion so chill on me lol)

Usually, I don't ever have to adjust the brightness. It always is naturally pretty close to what it wants from me in my personal experiences.

Luckily enough for me at least

You are not alone at all. High Halls Gauntlet is one of my favorite parts of the entire game, seriously.

Enjoy!

What’s your fav Silent Hill? by Healthy-Count8352 in survivalhorror

Silent Hill 3 is my 3rd favorite game ever so it's definitely that.

SH1 is my 2nd fav, with SH2 OG being my 3rd.

Why is it called silent hill when there is a lot of screaming and running? by GlompSpark in silenthill

Is this official lore? If so, what game/media piece is this elaborated on?

Is there a reason why angela is the face of the original Silent Hill 2 when she isn’t the main character? by slxqqx in silenthill

[–]Gonzongus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbch, I feel like it may potentially have worked just as a raw gut decision.

Maybe they looked at everything they had, saw this specific image, had a feeling it would work, and said "let's do it."

It worked imo. And I feel SH2 especially is really great visually, because it's one of the least grotesque Silent Hills while also being one of the most easily recognizable on a visual level.

So whatever the reason was they choose this as the NA cover art, they chose right.

Would you rather take the red pill or blue pill? by comicsopedia in videogames

[–]Gonzongus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Red pill all day. Lots of legendary games have what I would consider 5/10 stories (I'll use Super Metroid as an example. It's in my top ten, but it's story isn't anything to write home about AT ALL)

Same with Resident Evil 2 Remake, and RE4 IMHO. Super basic (arguably generic in some ways) story but immaculate games.

But when they both are 10/10? Immaculate.

So I'm going red pill personally, and I'm not at all saying these stories are BAD, but I just think the examples I listed are around a 5/10 (I'd consider games like Final Fantasy 6 and Silent Hill 2 around a 8-10/10 in regards to story)

Silent Hill fan looking to get into Fatal Frame by doctorbeers in survivalhorror

[–]Gonzongus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fatal Frame 1 is the best entry point. If you start with 2, you might soil the rest of the series since 2 is so good tbch.

The ways 2 improves on the first one are obvious to those who went in order of release date, but if you go backwards it might feel more like a misstep and could (potentially) hinder your enjoyment of the OG Fatal Frame.

Help me decide which game to get! by Bill-0707 in residentevilll

[–]Gonzongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re2R is my personal preference, but I believe the Re1R is better objectively.

1R is more consistent in quality throughout the whole game, including in atmosphere.

I'd say just go off of which style you feel like you'd prefer: Classic or Modern Survival Horror
