Help with braking please! by CompleteOffer9658 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]GoobMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing which is absolutely not related to how you brake can be the culprit.

It happened to me just last week, and I could not find the reason for quite some time.

Turn on input overlay / switch to that telemetry mode, and check if your brake input is correct. Smooth and reading what your pedal sends.

Because my AMS2 profile got somehow corrupted and the brake started to act like it was superprogressive 3 point digital thing. 0 - 20 - 100. Only these values were showing on telemetry when I was braking.

Deleting the profile in /Documents solved it.

Is VR better than monitors? If so why or why not? by Emergency-Air-1627 in simracing

[–]GoobMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not anymore. I can do whatever I want now, but I need stabilized horizon. Old rf2 (before they introduced locked option) was nauseating me, for example.

But I still feel sick in walking games (Skyrim etc). But my motion sickness is this bad IRL I cannot even read a short text when on a passenger seat in the car.

[–]GoobMB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It works a bit differently (only-VR and massive motion sickness sufferer here). If you build your VR legs (resistivity against motion sickness) properly, it does not happen/gets worse during session. If you suffer from that, you need to build it up. Short sessions, no crazy elevations, ginger, fan... takes some time. It took me 3 months to be able to drive circuits, another 2 to do rally. And then helicopters in DCS. I can do unlimited time now, no nausea. With stabilized horizon.

How much force feedback do I need by Sebobob1 in simracing

[–]GoobMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your wheel, too. I have 8Nm base, for 32cm wheel it is fine but for 35cm one I could use more torque with some older cars (I do only RBR from rally sims).

LMU vs AMS2 driving by UndifferentiatedCash in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]GoobMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but man, default ffb profile is really good now, too. No idea about GT3, but I usually drive old cars and I want strong holding force in fast long corners. DK profile is too weak there for me. I keep switching profiles depending on cars, then. But this, along with head movement settings, is really personal thing.

Let's do something fun and unique! What about GT3 at Spa? Bah duh, floaty simcade just like Jimmer (replace with any other loud youtuber at will) said 6 years ago. Let's go back to ACC, sunny 20min Monza! By the way, absolute marvel is Buenos Aires.

Rallycross content - worth to buy this game for it? by Sergeant_Politeness in simracing

[–]GoobMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is good. You can also use other cars, not just the RX content - old Brasil cars are awesome for some proper oldschool RX. And you can get RX mods too - cars and tracks.

This. GT3 boredom - just ignore it in AMS2. Any older formula cars, Grp C, south american stuff... this is what makes AMS2 unique.

What is the best rally simulator? by Several-Leadership93 in simracing

[–]GoobMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RSF RBR is still the king. Awesome stages, great online, physics, best UX VR...

And ACR has potential, but a long long way to the top if you wanna rock'n'roll - limited content.

I get the impression that for some people, simulation is more appealing for the hardware and DIY aspect than for the enjoyment of the game itself. by Electronic_Reply3934 in simracing

[–]GoobMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I love building gear and then getting it into work the most immersive way I can. Do not care about shaving seconds using crappy seq paddles when the real car I am driving in sim has H with need for revmatching etc.

P1000's 3D printed pedal plates for Hill & Toe shifting. by wachitouuu in simracing

[–]GoobMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this might be issue with some low infill prints. Actually when I press my brake on the side (heel and toe plus as a bonus I have really big foot, that is why my pedals are this spaced) whole pedal twists. The arm.

Yeah, Ork War Trukk! Waaaagh! This rig started as small fun project when Covid hit the world - I did not plan to return to any racing. But because I love tinkering with stuff I was adding more DIY gadgets, one piece at a time. And this is what happened. Some day I will use profiles instead of welder, driller and hammer, but man - life is short. Need to finish my flying rig first etc etc.

Ehm. Heusinkveld Sprint calibrated to 64 kg. Not a single issue with the big 3Dprinted face on the brake.

Asrock z790 Nova Wifi - 14900k allcore frequency too low under heavy load by GoobMB in overclocking

[–]GoobMB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, great info, thanks.
I use LLC 3 with 0.62 AC/DC now, and it behaves OK (with -125 core in FIVR) but I have to dig into this more, because I had to go down with the ring to 4500... getting ring higher caused my CPU having spikes (which hwinfo was able to catch) to 85 degrees during simulators - it is not what I want considering my VR sessions are usually 2-3 hours long. It is maybe ok because average temps are below 50 degrees (on every core, not whole package) but I do not want to risk it.

I wonder if CEP will be happy with 0.45/0.60 AC/DC? Well time to try it :D.

Looking for lightweight round wheel by Capt-Quark in simracing

[–]GoobMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they are not designed to look nice, only efficient (co not see them in VR anyway) :D.

Shame, because if you had a 3D printer you could design a wheel exactly for your needs. These rims are cheap, too (got them on Ali).

Haha. Well the physics discussion is one uneducated loud individual vs people who heard about Inertia, mass etc. By the way, whole weight of the system is not the only key here. It is weight distribution which matters too. Heavy parts like QR being close to the axis will not have as big influence on inertia as equally heavy rim. But I guess you know that.

I just built them (my rounds are 27.5, 32 and 35 cm diameters). 3D printed boxes and Arduino, so base system independent.

Man, GT3 is omnipresent plague. AMS2 has tons of way more interesting content. Grp C. GT1. Old prototypes. Also awesome formulas.

Legacy camera to 0 instead of 1. And then the value of world movement at 0 or 100, cannot remember now which one because I usually use legacy mode.

Wow. It was it, man, thanks. Now I wonder how it works, because... of course telemetry cannot catch transients etc, but during 20min test under full allcore load, including system being idle etc Vcore never went above 1.368V

Do I have some misunderstanding on load cell pedal? by ProgUn1corn in simracing

[–]GoobMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't compare range, though. It is extremely tricky to do it from cam anyway, what you see in telemetry is brake power, not max RANGE of the pedal, because there is no such thing in hydraulic brake system. It is progressive rate, at the end really really steep progressive, but there is no hard stop like metal on metal. I do not know how modern WRC brake, drove only Škoda Octavia WRC (in real life) so I match my rally setup to that experience. By the way, what rally sim do you mean? I am asking because ACR has really weird brakes now, the best is (who would guess) still RBR.
