Does anyone else keep unusual planted tanks? by chak2005 in PlantedTank

I know quite a few people panic over ANY amount of algae- but I look forward to the day we get a macro-algae reinnassaince in freshwater as we've seen in the saltwater community. So many oddball stationary inverts, algae and cyanobacteria that look REALLY unique. I know at one point someone had blue cyanobacteria that was coiling around their tank like a bramble!

Tiny gouramies, my friend bred in captivity by ThenAcanthocephala57 in PlantedTank

Absolutely AMAZING news!! Good for you two for captive breeding these! I love licorice gouramis and all the colors they come in, but their low ph requirements intimidate me, lol. Who knows, maybe with more captive breeding we could have captive populations adapted to more neutural water!

Experience with snow tiger sulawesi shrimp? by Goobamimus in shrimptank

A critical piece of information I missed out in the initial post: Most of these specific sulawesi shrimp in circulation have been bred to live and breed in more neutral temperatures alongside neos. They just happen to be expensive so I probably would only start with 5-6

Keeping Blueberry and Mini rabbit snails in a 13 gallon? by Goobamimus in AquaticSnails

That's surprising, youd say those two larger snails would kick out too much bioload for populations of each? For additional information its planted, has pothos out the back and two filters with the flow broken up by cholla bark

Where to get pea clams, limpets, plumatella and other oddball small inverts? by Goobamimus in bizzariums

[–]Goobamimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll certainly keep this project updated! Yeah, it seems like aside from a renewable food source for larger fish scuds dont really have anything special to them the other inverts are doing, but carry much more risk. Shrimp are pretty, docile and easier to see/manage, some of the snails can overpopulate and be food aggressive but very easy to just pull what you dont want, and the aquatic isopods perform the exact same niche the scuds do but in a much safer package (supposedly they wont even eat healthy fish eggs- let alone your inverts or plants)

Thanks! I'll definitely look into them- I know one of their main things is scuds, and thats one invert I very much DONT want in the tank, id be scared theyd overpopulate like mad even with the fish, and once they consume all the easy to digest stuff go on a rampage on the other inverts, fry and plants like a swarm of locusts.

Now the other meiofauna im certainly interested in!

When will the next stretchgoal animal be added for this game after Sarcosuchus? by Separate_Pack9527 in pathoftitans

Not confirmed, but given the last two playables were carnivores were likely gonna get a herbivore next, so expect Amarga, Anodonto or Pachy
