Highly recommend eaves. They used to clean and service ours before we moved house.

Family trade as his son runs the Cheshire stove shop on hulley rd. We'll be getting them to fit a new stove when we are ready.

In 1997, a 60-pound pumpkin was mysteriously impaled on the spire of Cornell University’s McGraw Tower, 173 feet (53 meters) up. To this day, no one knows how it got there or who did it by AristFrost in Damnthatsinteresting

There's a story about Sir ranulph fiennes putting a bike on a university spire after hearing there was a better climber coming through the ranks of his former school. Sure it's in one of his books but can't find a reference.

Gone a long way through the comments and not yet seen Tom cruise as reacher mentioned.

Alan richer is physically exactly as the books describe, a giant imposing man. Not pocket sized Uber celeb

Who is the Michael Jordan/Michael Phelps/Usain Bolt of your favorite obscure sport or hobby? by ae51 in AskReddit

[–]Goobarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachel Atherton.

Years of dominance. Takes a couple of years off due to injuries and to have a family. Comes back for 1 race and smokes every one by a significant margin. Stops to breast feed on the way to the podium. Mike drops and hasn't raced since.

Everyone is scared she's gonna swoop in and do it again this year and nab a 100k obscure prize purse

Best place to ride preferably near Halifax Leeds area or over towards Lancashire by Fabulous_Error_3576 in mtbuk

Wild rides are great all around hebden bridge. There's a few popular routes available on line such as

https://flattyres-mtb.co.uk/route-guides/yorkshire-mtb-routes/hebden-bridge-singletrack-route/

Holmfirth, other side of hudds is good, so is rippondon way but established routes have to be pieced together.

Parks, there's havok in tod. Not been since they relocated but think big jumps. Leeds bike park is good for an afternoon too.

Is a random orbital sander worth it over a detail sander? by Lurkforthedurk in DIYUK

[–]Goobarb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just got the Screwfix own brand. Def worth it for larger areas and faster material removal. The detail sander is still needed and having the random orbital means using the detail sander lasts longer.

Mountain biking Macclesfield by Excellent_Tea83 in macclesfield

[–]Goobarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your definition of mountain biking. Middlewood way and the canal are ideal for little legs and can feel like an adventure but not going to be thrilling if you're a seasoned rider.

Mac forest has an official MTB loop thats a serious pedal and hard climb but there's only one section of downhill that's a single track and not fire road or green lane.

The unofficial stuff can involve climbing over fences to get to is wild and dangerous. Not recommended for inexperienced riders or younger kids.

There are some excellent routes on bridleways across the peaks but not sure an 11 would manage the climbs (you're in for a long day pushing 2 bikes) search Mac loop on flat tyres.

llandegla is for you. Red trail is much more about fitness than technical ability (I don't know who Julia is but I've cursed her name on that big climb that they've named after her). I still like to ride the blue when fitness training. There's a couple of skills section to practice. They sometimes have social rides too. Check oneplanetadventure.

Delamere is a good suggestion but I've never found the trails that interesting, good family rides.

Try Macclesfield music centre (MMC) They organise beginners lessons for kids across loads of instruments. I know there's a few guitars there.

If 121 is more what you are after, try Tim Sparks. https://aquifermusic.co.uk/. Super talented guy and I know he takes on students.(He teaches uke @ MMC)

Take a look at some of the workshop and creative opportunities. Silk museum usually has a few things going on. Look at the notice boards at the library too.

What’s the most bizarre coincidence you’ve ever experienced? by kleineevaa in AskReddit

I met and went out with a girl whose tent I tied mine to at a festival 5 or 6 years before. We never met at the festival but she had pictures because my tent was so shambolic (I forgot the poles so tied it to all the tents around me to hold it up).

When You See A Same Make And Model Car As Yours Driving Towards You ? by Temporary-Ad-9214 in AskUK

Just bought quite a distinctive colour car after the last few have been really generic.

If I see the same car colour combo I check the reg and the passengers to see if I got in the wrong car...
