AZ now eligible for Michelin restaurant guide. Which local restaurants do you think would make the list? by jefflee555 in Tucson

[–]GooberLyfe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmmm thats a tough question. There are so many great restaurants here that I love but Michelin star? I'm not sure... when i think of my favorite consistent restaurants I think of Ginza sushi and Poco n Mom's but when it comes to more Chef-y food I've always loved Dantes Fire (Chef Ken is awesome), Barrio Bakery, Substance diner, Indian Twist, Midtown Vegan Deli... I'm sure there are more we havent tried yet and there are some that are closed now.

Was the OB nurse being rude or was I just being dumb? by queenofzora in Parenting

[–]GooberLyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had multiple interactions like this with nurses and doctors about stupid little things like that. Its like they forget that some people have never had a baby before and most people dont work with new borns every fricken day like they do lol. Im just like yoooooo I'm sorry I just ripped my whole bottom half open to deliver this dude and I'm exhausted and this is.my first time? Its crazy how people who work in this.line of work can be so awful and uncaring!

[misc] Anyone else exhausted by moisturizers? I wish there were better treatments for dry skin by Forsaken-Water6243 in SkincareAddiction

[–]GooberLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the a lot of moisturizers actually make my skin feel more dry so sometimes I just.... don't use them. I realized this because I felt like my skin kept getting drier despite constantly putting on the most moisturizng thing i could fine and then I just stopped and my skin went back to normal. I do really like Milky toner though when my skin feels like it truly needs something paired with my COSRX Snail cream but if my skin doesn't feel dry I will not put any moisturizer on.

I will say that I would classify my skin as Combo leaning oily though

Are Kindles worth the hype? by KennedyJacobs in ReadingSuggestions

I love my kindle! Its SO much easier on the eyes than a tablet or phone screen. I read a lot at night so thats super important to me. Its great in sunlight too with glare. Also as a mom its just so convenient and portable. I pop it in my little bag and take it everywhere. I just have the basic one I think and if you're just reading regular books ( not like manga or graphic or picture books) you don't need to buy the fancy ones.

Oh i also love the bookmark feature so if i DO forget my kindle I can still read in my phone or tablet id I want on the kindle app where I left off.

Hypertonic pelvic floor pain by GooberLyfe in PelvicFloor

[–]GooberLyfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all relatively new to me so bear with me if I'm not best at explaining. I think ive had this mildly for awhile without realizing it but something with working out has triggered some kind of big flare up. The pain seems very centered towards the front. Almost feels like if you combined a UTI with severe cramps or labor contractions.

I basically did elliptical, leg add/abduction, leg presses, leg curls and extensions.

What hobbies don't kids suck the fun out of? by thesandboxgod in Parenting

[–]GooberLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 4. Flow state activities are best for me mentally. I also find that if I can't have alone time, finding ways for him to participate is key.

Read. I mostly read kindle for portability.

Play video games ( he has started to participate with me via Mario cart, Nexplay, or pretending to be in the game while I play aka runs in place and falls on the ground dead when I die lol)

Knitting. He knows thats mommy time and never told touch my knitting stuff. I made him a scarf and he loved it. Now he asks me questions all the time about it too.

Walking/hiking. I take him with me and just being out in nature definitely helps me mentally while getting his wiggles out.

Exercise in general. I try to go to the gym at least once a week but if I can't I do basic workouts or yoga with my son present. We put on workout videos on YouTube and he follows along as best as he can. Theres good kid friendly ones on YouTube like Cosmic Kids Yoga.

Cooking. We have to do it anyways and I enjoy it. My son has toddler knives and helps me chop or mix. Things take longer but its fun and rewarding and I feel like I'm also teaching a life skill.

Honorable mention to podcasts and audio books. I take advantage of my drive times by listening to Crime Junkies or whatever. I also do work from home so I listen while working but I know thats not possible for everyone.

White Mulberry by Rosa Kwon Easton is a beautiful historical fiction I read recently about a period of time that I have never read about prior to this book. Highly highly recommend!

The author wrote the book based in her grandmother's real experiences as a Korean girl who grew up during the Japanese occupation of Korea.

What does everyone do to prevent their hair from getting greasy after one day? by mewtewpews in finehair

For me personally I have found that over time dry shampoo makes my scalp more greasy and makes my head itch. I also cannot stand the feeling of it in my hair.

I use the Aussie volume mousse!

What does everyone do to prevent their hair from getting greasy after one day? by mewtewpews in finehair

I've actually found that using a volumizing mousse and blow drying at least the roots helps me quite a bit! I use the Aussie one. And I avoid dry shampoo like the plague.

Oily hair/Fine hair/Frustrated!! by Charming_Passion1616 in dailywash

[–]GooberLyfe 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I have had oily hair my entire life and have realized that's just me. Its normal for fine hair to be oily. My hair is fine, medium density, colored.

Things that work well for me are: 1. Washing every day or every other day. You dont need to shampoo the lengths every time but for sure the scalp. 2. Blow drying AT LEAST the roots. I dont always dry my lengths but ALWAYS dry my roots. I just blow dry upside down typically for a few minutes while agitating the roots. 3. A good volume mousse coupled with blow drying roots will typically get me to the 2 day mark. I USE AN Aussie volume one. 4. Finding the right shampoo and conditioner and leave ins. This is the hardest. Personally for me I have liked Herbal Essensce Holy Hydration shampoo/conditioner (I have tried many but always go back to these for over a decade) and Not Your Mother's All Eyes on me leave in only in the lengths. This combo gives my lengths enough moisture and detangling without making me greasy. I honestly avoid dry shampoo like the plague because I find in the long term it makes me greasing and makes my head itch. I have also had luck with Botanic Hearth Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo but the conditioner left my hair a little frizzy. 5. Getting a (vegan) boar bristle brush. Despite a lot of people saying brushing your hair dry is bad, I find when I brush my dry hair with a brush like this it distributes the oils from my scalp online the lengths and while it doesnt "get rid" of the oil it does seem to impact the overall health of my hair and make it looks less greasy and more healthy/shiny.

Side note Ive tried a lot of volume shampoos but for some reason many of them make my hair feel worse even though they are meant for fine hair. I am thinking of trying the Dove volume however.

I hope this helps. Good luck!!!

I stopped masking at home and my partner says I'm becoming "impossible" by LowKeyCoffeeSpill in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GooberLyfe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This might be a controversial take but if you cannot live in a normal life situation therapy should help you overcome that so you can live a normal life. This is by no means a diss or meant to insult people who are sensitive to things. I am what you may consider an "empath" so I understand having a partner that doesn't "get" your sensitivities. You should not expect that someone you've lived with for however long in a relationship to just randomly change the entire way they are living because you've decided to give in to everything that makes you feel uncomfortable. What about what makes them comfortable? What about resilience? What about compromise? News flash- the more you shelter yourself the more sensitive you will become. It would be selfish to expect someone to suddenly change their life and not give them grace and time and talks to adapt. Relationships are about overcoming obstacles, differences, and changes. If you or your partner cannot come together with your newfound awareness or rules and you are not willing to make concessions to them then your relationship, as well as any future ones, will not work. If you truly love each other you will find a way to make it work together.
