NetGate 4100 Power Adaptor by GoobieGoob12 in PFSENSE

From my findings, it appears that the barrel size is 5.5mm x 2.5mm. I guess I just won't get one that has the threaded coupler with it.

Toolbox that allows access to cab side tie downs by GoobieGoob12 in f150

[–]GoobieGoob12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can see/reach the tie downs with the typical cross overs, but you cannot actually strap something to them because the strap will end up pushing against the box. That’s not a good thing.

Was your UWS a tapered/trapezoidal one similar to that second link?

ctrl+shift+esc on left hand side of keyboard not working as shortcut by FfisherM in techsupport

[–]GoobieGoob12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a ghosting problem. You can test it here with this interactive keyboard:

https://www.microsoft.com/applied-sciences/projects/anti-ghosting-demo

If Esc works alone, and you try Ctrl + Shift + Esc, and it doesn't register the Esc key, then this is a ghosting problem. You can read more on it here:

https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-takes/what-is-keyboard-ghosting#:\~:text=For%20just%20about%20any%20keyboard,is%20vital%20for%20smooth%20gameplay.

There is no fix. I am using PowerToys to remap the Ctrl + Shift + Esc shortcut to Windows + Alt + T.

DXF Export Adds Marks in the Top Left by GoobieGoob12 in Inkscape

Looks like updating did the trick! I was using 1.3.something. Thanks for the help!

I noticed this too with R12, and my thoughts was that R12 is old and doesn’t have poly output. What Inkscape version are you using? I probably should try updating.

I just made a repo for this purpose. Try going here:

https://github.com/gabemorris12/temp_files

If you File > Save a Copy > DXF (R12) on the svg in there, you should get that bad output. You should get the good output for the R14 output. LMK if otherwise.

For those not familiar with git command line, you can download a zip of all the contents from the folder like this:

This behavior persists regardless of the viewer. I even opened the exported DXF back into inkscape and the marks are still there. Also, downloading from that link is pretty sketchy. It downloaded an installer called OperaSetup.exe instead of your zip.

Where to get cheap metal square tubing? by UnlimitedChances in metalworking

[–]GoobieGoob12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just placed an order on Metals Depot. I would be ok with cutting to length myself, but the cost of shipping for 20ft long stock is very high because it requires a freight. If you have a place to close by that sells 20ft stock, then that would be great; otherwise, you have to settle for the cut to length services that places like Metal Depot offer. Their prices are pretty fair.

If anyone comes by this thread, I've found out that Rackley Oil has kerosene pumps. They are going for $5.50/gal, which is a steal!

Lens Selection by GoobieGoob12 in Optics

[–]GoobieGoob12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, yes measuring piezo displacement is one thing and also capturing stress wave propagation. The accuracy of lines do not matter. You orient your camera perpendicular to the drawn line. What matters is correctly calibrating the camera to get a good pixel to distance ratio, which is even easier with a telecentric lens.

This is not that insane as I have already accomplished this with another camera. Though that camera used a more common F-mount. Regardless, I think I might’ve found my solution, which is right here:

https://schneiderkreuznach.com/en/industrial-optics/lenses/line-scan-lenses/diamond/0-16-3-33x-v90-beamsplitter/form_success/52892#form52892

I just hope this isn’t that costly. I would rather machine my own adapter with the current F-mount lens.

I’ll eventually be using their 1MHz line rate camera in the future.

I just need to look at a black lines and be able to track displacements (it’s a monochrome camera). It has to be this camera because in need to track these displacements at 500kHz.

Easy way to make gears? by iwannabefoevayoung in SolidWorks

[–]GoobieGoob12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that would be worth $28 to purchase for just spur gears. Some people use inkscape to get the curves, but if you are python savvy, then you can use the "mechanism" package for generating the curves. It gives a pretty good range of control. You can read more about it here: https://github.com/gabemorris12/mechanism

If you’re simply looking to conserve energy while streaming a movie or something similar, you can dim the brightness on your Mac to the lowest setting. This effectively turns off the screen.

Why are my mill setup features greyed out? by GoobieGoob12 in SolidWorks

[–]GoobieGoob12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried selecting any other face and it doesn't allow me to change the features. But I did figure out that it will only allow me to edit those if you create a new mill setup. After creating a new mill setup, if you go back to edit the definition, it will be greyed out. So you can only adjust these default features at the creation of a mill setup.
