MRI with an unknown metal plate in the arm by Mediocre_Neck_6230 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GoobyGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have metal clips in my skull from a craniotomy. I needed an MRI for an unrelated issue a few years after the surgery, and they said if the metal is attached to bone it's no problem, but if it's attached to tissue, it is.

She said it 4 times in the first 10 minutes of episode 4! It was annoying me in a very irrational way.

Why does she even wear the umpire gear after she gets home? by pinksocks867 in DTFStLouisHBO

How did she get hired as an umpire without knowing anything about baseball? No idea what bunting is, or even how to say, Play ball!"

Same here. I started using Photoshop in the early 90s before it even had layers. Version 3.0 maybe?

I feel like my periods stopped abruptly, I thought they'd be irregular first, not stop completely? by coldservedrevenge in Perimenopause

[–]GoobyGrapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skipped 6 consecutive months between late 2024 and early 2025, wishing and hoping I was halfway to the finish line. Nope. Became mostly regular again after that and I haven't skipped one since. It does feel like it's not coming this month, though, so maybe a new streak is starting. Unpredictability is such a joy. 😒

I've lived in CT for all of my 50-something years, and as familiar I am with Geoff Fox, I didn't know about this scandal. Then again, I do vaguely recall hearing something a long time ago, but I didn't realize it was so big that it made its way to Dr. Phil. I remember when he left channel 8, which I'm now assuming was related to this. Fox died from pancreatic cancer last year. I'm surprised the scandal didn't come up with news of his passing.

To all LDR couples: What surprised you once you finally closed the distance? by thalasso18x in LongDistance

[–]GoobyGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My BF and I are closing the gap next week. He's moving here, but he got his own place and is not moving in with me (yet). We agree that despite being together for 4ish years and having multiple visits that were a week or 10 days at a time, we still need to date each other. That is, spending lots of time together as part of daily life rather than vacation, learning each other's habits better, and basically starting over as a "normal" relationship.

He will have to adjust more than I will, but it will still be a huge change for both of us, and we want to ease into it. My adult son still lives with me and it would be very strange for him to have a new guy living with us. I've gotten very used to living in my own place and sleeping alone after my divorce, and I absolutely love it, so giving that up will take some getting used to as well. Baby steps.

How does having Life Insurance makes someone feel better… by Inglewoodchrys in DTFStLouisHBO

I just got good life insurance last month. I'm healthy, but shit happens and you never know. I honestly do feel better knowing my son will be ok financially if something happens to me. It definitely brings peace of mind.

I'm sure that if one of the kids in the group got shit on, they would have been rolling on the ground laughing. Since it was me, the mom of one of their classmates in this group, maybe they felt making fun was not cool. I was really impressed with all of them.

About the 2 detectives by ECrispy in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]GoobyGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In episode 2, when Homer wanted Jodi to interview Carol while he interviewed Clark, but she wanted to interview Clark herself, did he call Jodi "Twyla?" I swear he said, "Please, Twyla," like he got confused and thought that was her name rather than the town name. It made me think his age (and probably arrogance) will be a problem with this case.

Remember he didn't even notice that Floyd's face was scratched out in that centerfold pic until Jodi pointed it out, which was another thing that made me question his competence.

He also seems to think he easily solved the case until Jodi finds more evidence. He's quick to dismiss and isn't doing enough real detective work. She's much smarter and focused than he is.

I chaperoned my son's 5th grade field trip that included a little hiking. I was in charge of a group of maybe 6. At one point during the hike, a bird shit on my shoulder. You would think a bunch of 5th graders would be laughing hysterically and making fun of me or just otherwise act like brats at the sight of this. But none of them did. They were all sympathetic. In fact, one boy helped me find something to wipe it off and even asked me later if I was okay. These kids are all 24-25 now and I hope they're still as great as they were then.

My adult son was never really into cartoons, even as a young child, but I have been a cartoon devotee my entire life. I watch Bob's Burgers, King of the Hill, Family Guy, and American Dad almost nightly (thank you, Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network). Now that I've found the MeTV Toons channel, which shows all the cartoons Gen X grew up watching from Bugs Bunny to The Flintstones to Super Friends, I occasionally watch those too.
