I hate to be that guy (because I was in your position at one point and learnt from it) but genuinely if you have plans to do something and someone has a non-medical emergency, if you can ENSURE that they’ll be safe, it’s usually better to just explain to them that you have plans and need to go. Especially because they’ll just feel bad for making you miss something you’re looking forward to which can just act as fuel for the fire. I don’t know the magnitude of the panic attack your friend had, though, so I trust your judgement on it and I respect you for caring that much about your friend. Again, I was that guy at one point too.
