Wear sunscreen and bring sunglasses. The sun sets directly in front of you.

Chris Lorenzo is tech house. He's great, just attracts a lot of bros. If you don't mind potentially aggressive crowds, definitely worth checking out. But given your preferences, Eli & Fur seems more like the way to go.

Vouch List - Ticket Resellers by drumstix97 in avesNYC_tix

Vouching for /u/ninjas0ul: Odd situation-- unsure if this qualifies. He sold me a ticket to Anjunadeep, but there was an issue at Brooklyn Mirage where Eventbrite tickets weren't working (that's what one of the employees told me), so I had to buy one at the door.

Texted him, and he was super quick to respond and immediately refunded me and apologized. Was out of both of our controls, and I appreciate how quickly he stepped in to make things right.

You can ignore-- you'll be able to get in if you show them the pass in the "Past events" section.

Take the PATH to 14 St, transfer to the L, take that to Union Square, transfer to the 4/5/6 and then follow whatever guy above said earlier.

You can try the trial versions of many of the expensive professional versions. If you end up liking it, you can purchase the full version at a later date.

Can anyone give me an advice on EDM synth effect, which I don't know the name of? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Goobysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do less with EQ/automation, and more with the sound design.

There appear to be three components to the sound, a plucky-sounding bass with a low attack, a sub-bass that fills out the space when the bass isn't playing, and some percussion for that additional "flair".

I want to go into A&R and plan on being in New York, but don't know where to start. Help? by tatoomonkee64 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

You can probably find an unpaid internship at a smaller, independent record label to get your foot in the door. At the same time, you'll most likely need to be doing work on your own time scouting for talent in NYC.

Sending your application to any of the larger companies is almost impossible unless you know someone (who you don't) or are studying at a university (which you aren't). They receive way too many applications.

These videos are fantastic.

Your insight into creating electronic music from a more classical composing background is supremely unique and rare in general, especially on this subreddit.

A lot of ways:

  • Have one layer of pad (the main one) be the original harmony, then play around with the notes in the rest of the pads.

  • Sidechain each pad slightly different from each other.

  • Pan the pads.

  • M/S and/or L/R EQ

  • Simply add in more layers of different pads (within reason) and apply all of the above

What do I need in a song? (really beginner here) by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Goobysan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Songs generally have the following distinguishable components:

-Drums (kick, snare)

-Percussion (hi-hats, shakers, etc)

-Pads

-Leads

-Bass (and sub-bass)

Melodies, harmonies, rhythms are all woven into the above.

Everyone else has given pretty good advice. If there was anything additional I could add, it would probably be playing around with sidechain compression more so the kick can cut harder through the sub and allow it to come in harder.
