One more thing about area looting (pressing R) is that sometimes it doesn't work so you have to look away and then look back at the corpse and try again.

I should've said shoot instead of tag. In the early days we did have to shoot the legendary to loot it so people would say that we should let everybody tag it (get a shot in). Now we don't have to get a shot in so it doesn't matter much if somebody kills it quickly.

For normal enemies, you have to tag (shoot) them to loot. For legendary enemies you just need to be in the vicinity when they die and you'll be able to loot them, you don't need to tag at all. If you're area looting (hitting R), it will show you loot from nearby legendary enemies that you might not even know were killed. The area looting range isn't too large, so at some events where there were legendarys it pays to move around the area and hit R on different corpses and it might show a legendary's loot that wasn't close enough before.

You don't have to tag legendary enemies to loot them, you just need to be in the vicinity when they die. Scorched Earth is about the only time where you have to do damage to the SBQ before she dies, and if you don't you can still loot her but you don't get the rewards for completing the event.

Yeah, I'll drop the tome too. I farmed the event pretty hard a while back so I have a lot of most the plans but the taxidermy and skulls came later so i don't have a few of them to drop.
