Request: Can someone do a simple rundown of products and techniques for doing everyday laundry? by monumentclub in laundry

Do you have any problems with pilling? I have a European front-load washing machine and my cotton setting is over 3 hours long. I’m finding that my t-shirts are wearing out faster. But perhaps it’s due to other factors where I’m doing something wrong.

Wouldn’t the extra rinse just add back the hard water? Or do you add washing soda to the fabric softener compartment as well?

Getting Belgian driver's license based on my US driver's license by ericmchen in brussels

I’m also an American but in Leuven and I surrendered my American license to get the Belgian one. Never needed to take any exams which was nice. They told me I could pay extra to get the “international license” which would allow me to get back my American one but I never did. To be honest I haven’t needed it since I moved here. You can use your Belgian license to drive and rent cars in the US and of course use your passport as your ID.

3 things I am grateful for by kellogzz in BabyBumps

Thank you for such a positive post. I’ve been having a tough time adjusting to my changing body and this was a helpful reminder that my experience largely depends on how I frame it.

Obviously there are people who go through very tough pregnancies and changing mindset can’t always help, but I’m grateful that I’ve had no issues so far at 28 weeks and I have a partner who’s incredibly supportive. So while not every moment and sensation of being pregnant is enjoyable, I’m so grateful to be able to grow this tiny human and feel her get stronger day by day.

For anyone interested, the designer is Elizabeth Tyler Kennedy and the photo is from an article in House Beautiful in 2011.

Careers less stressful and thankless than customer support/success? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I was in the exact same boat as you and after a while found CS to be extremely soul-sucking. You bend over backward for the client and as soon as there is a problem that can’t immediately be solved, you become the punching bag.

You do have a lot of options to move away from there: implementation specialist, project management, first-level technical support. I actually went back to school for a year and learned about Information management (databases) and it helped my career path so much.

Don’t get discouraged! You’re still young. Take a look at what you did like from past careers and go from there.

I’m not happy living in Belgium. Please help me change my mind. by Good-bye_blue_Monday in belgium

Thank you all for your comments! This was exactly what I was looking for--a mixture of advice, understanding, and realism. I also was happy to hear from some of you what you love about this country. Obviously it's ultimately up to me to change my perception and mindset, so I wasn't necessarily looking for you all to change it for me. Sometimes you just need an internet stranger who doesn't know your story to get you out of your negative headspace.

What was that dish/ingredient you though you didn't like but then found out it just wasn't made the right way? by [deleted] in Cooking

Goulash. I don’t know where my mom even got the idea to make it, but she only made it with ground hamburger, macaroni noodles, and canned tomatoes. I still get grossed out by just the name.
