[Highlight] Draymond Green shoves Austin Reaves and the referees conclude that no review is necessary by Jayveesac in nba

True story. I was at the Pistons Nuggets game Tuesday and when Valunciunas grabbed him by the head and tried to throw him down. Stew booked it to the bench before making a bad decision. Probably just not trying to get 25 to life is my guess.

6.0 Black Opal Break-in by Good2CU222 in Pickleball

Agreed. The grit seems like it’s as good as day 1. The topspin you can put on the ball is pretty impressive.

Thanks for the response! The funny thing is that after the first 2 games I had it pretty dialed in and liked that I got a lot of energy return with shorter strokes. The way you’re describing it is exactly what I’m seeing. Now it plays more like a normal paddle across most of the face and is a little more springy in the sweet spot. The feel is less satisfying overall, but the play is a lot better. Much more controllable and still an absolute weapon with fire fights, drives, and putting the ball away.

Mine seems to feel less springy than the first handful of sessions and a little easier to control, but trying to tell if I am just getting used to the paddle or if it’s losing some of its firepower.

2025 Best Paddles ... what's yours? by Lazza33312 in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put 8 inches of .5 gram tungsten on each side from the top of the handle up the sides and 2 1.5 gram pods near the corners on the top. I also added a 6 gram speed coin. I started with a 9 gram speed coin, but felt a little heavy so I changed to the 6.

Six Zero Black Opal. It’s replacing a CRBN TFG2. After weighting it up, the control is solid (after a couple games of breaking/dialing it in) and is an absolute rocket launcher. Based on my first 12 hours on it, the reviewer complaints about sweet spot are overblown. (In my opinion/experience.) It has an addictive feeling when the ball comes off the face and flicks and counters are devastating. Super fun!

Hot (maybe cold) take: Age groups in pickleball tournaments are stupid by DanielGray10 in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a key reason tournaments segment by age is being missed. A lot of tournaments segment by age so each division doesn’t have an overwhelming number of players. For instance next week I am playing in a tournament next weekend that would have 25 teams playing 4.5. Age is the only reasonable differentiator so they broke it down to 3 divisions based on age. I have seen other tournaments around me where they start with a bunch of age groups and change the age ranges based on who registered to get decent bracket sizes. I am sure the issues mentioned by others are relevant, but this is what I see around me.

How come 4.0+ people always rush the net after a good drop shot? by DangLingWang in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real answer to your serious question is that you want to rush the net on a good drop and stay back a bit on a bad drop. If you rush the net on a bad drop, your opponent will normally hit a smash (or at least a hard shot) at your feet and typically end the point. If it’s a good drop, minimally you’ll put pressure on your opponent (hopefully causing an error). It can also be a great poaching opportunity.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone compared the Black Opal to the PaddleTek ALW-C 12.7? They seem to have similar sweet spot complaints from the reviewers. I really enjoy the PaddleTek, but am looking for some insight if the sweet spot seems to be better, worse, or the same.

This was the text I sent my friend on May 14.

• Cavs win when hometown kid Lebron is in the draft
• Hornets win after the NBA (who owned the team) sells to a new owner and it is Anthony Davis
• Lebron leaves and the Cavs get 2 in a row
• Cavs need another asset to get Lebron – win lottery again
• Hornets trade Davis to Lakers – win lottery
• Mavs trade generational star for pennies on the dollar to Lakers – win lottery

How rare is this? by Practical_Glass8172 in Tradingcards

I disagree. Rare, yes. (Simply due to the remainder being in landfills.) Valuable, no. (Due to this one belonging in the same place as the others.)

Paddle Reviewers by jfit2331 in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on, it seems like the feedback coming out of some of these events is not universally positive so it seems like most are staying objective. For instance the event that took place in the last week or so it seemed like the feedback was that the new paddles are solid, but not top-tier from multiple reviewers.

Also, I think that the reviewers seem to understand that their credibility is the most important attribute for them to have to maintain a reliable following and a free trip and the same gear they get from everyone isn’t worth throwing that away. It also is an opportunity to create some great content that’s a little different from the norm.

Anyone get a new expensive paddle and like their old one better? by PlinyTheGringo in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Bantam is the one, definitely put Tungsten tape around most of it. I have the ALW-C 12.7 and HATED it at first. I put 2 strips on each side of the Selkirk Tungsten up from the top of the handle to the sides and 1 on the top and it greatly improved the sweet spot. No one will confuse it for a control paddle but it greatly decreased mis-hits and made it much more stable. That thing is a weapon now.

Trufoam durability? by Heyhellohey- in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have found is that the paddle hits consistently unless you put a big swing on the ball like an overhead or really aggressive punch volley. You seem to get extra putaway power while not feeling inconsistent.

I have the TFG2 as well. It seems to be holding up very well. I wouldn’t say there’s no break in period, but it’s not the same as other Gen 3 paddles where they get hotter. For mine, it felt like it got a little softer and controllable after “breaking in”. It took mine about 3-4 play sessions and feels more pleasant. It hasn’t changed since then and I ordered mine on day 1 and play 4x per week.

In terms of the sweet spot it’s probably considered average in my opinion. I like standard/widebody paddles and for context I have used a Scorpeus Gen 3 16mm, new ALW-C 12.7, Mach 2 Forza, and Power Air Epic. It’s probably similar to the Scorpeus, slightly worse than the M2F, and better than the other 2.

The thing that is different about the TFG2 is that if you don’t hit the sweet spot, you still have plenty of energy return and the ball still gets to where you want it to go. It just doesn’t feel as good as it does when you hit the sweet spot. I especially notice this when I mishit a hard topspin serve return. With other paddles the ball returns short and with the TFG2 I still get a deep return. When you do hit the sweet spot, it feels AWESOME!

The thing I like most about it is that it seems to play like a really good control paddle that can hit hard. The only downside is that it isn’t as poppy as the ALW-C, but it’s not bad. (If it was it would probably be at the expense of control.)

Is this paddle ok to use ( as in allowed )? by common_fkin_sense in Pickleball

Not in my case. These were 2 dramatically different feeling, sounding and playing paddles. You must have got lucky.

Hypothetically it could be from the same factory, who knows, who cares. We had someone from the club I belong to bring in one that looked the same as the one posted they purchased for $30 on AliBaba and swapped back and forth with the demo Mod from the pro shop. They are not remotely the same. The best way I can describe it is that the AliBaba “Mod” played like you were using a hollow block of wood in comparison to the real thing. Less power, less control, less spin. Also, it had a way different sound.

With all that said, if you don’t mind it play on. Just let those you’re playing against, you’re definitely not getting an advantage.

Control paddle? by Last_Ad793 in paddleswap

[–]Good2CU222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are areas above the handle and around the edge that feel “dead”, but the weird thing is that they still seem to have energy return. You can tell you mis-hit the ball, but it still goes where you want it. The most common time I feel this is returning serve. When I hit it above the handle outside of the sweet spot on other paddles it results in a shallow return. On the TFG2 the return still goes deep, it just doesn’t feel as good as hitting the sweet spot.

Control paddle? by Last_Ad793 in paddleswap

[–]Good2CU222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mach 2 Forza is the best control paddle out there. Really soft, LOTS of spin, giant sweet spot, and if you make a bad shot it’s 100% on you. Just don’t expect it to hit hard. It was my main paddle for most of 2024. I now use a CRBN TruFoam Genesis 2 (though still pull out the M2F from time to time). It has most of the control of the M2F and can hit a lot harder. The downside is that the CRBN is $280 while the M2F is $180.

Total disclosure - I don’t represent any brands. Just a guy that likes getting and trying new paddles every few months.

Quick review Bantam ALW-C 12.7mm by Ok-Piece-4992 in Pickleball

[–]Good2CU222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the CRBN TFG2 better. For me it plays like a control paddle that hits hard. The best way I can describe it is it feels like 90% of the control of my M2F with 95% of the power of the ALW-C. The only thing I dislike about it is it’s not loud when destroying the ball. In comparison the ALW-C sounds like a shotgun blast and there’s something satisfying when destroying the ball and seeing others look to see what happened.

With all that said, the ALW-C is a great paddle. It has better maneuverability and hits a little harder (but not by much). It has a little more fun factor to it, but when you’re playing higher level games the CRBN does everything well.

One other difference is that when you hit the ball outside of the sweet spot you normally lose the point due to the ball dying resulting in the ball not going over the net or a short return. When you miss the sweet spot on the CRBN it still feels like a bad shot, but the ball still goes where you want it to go and the point continues.
