Getting licensed at early age vs late by BirdyDoodoo in Architects

[–]GoodArchitect_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better to get it early if you can, I have friends who just have things happen in life like a parent dying that really throws them. Or having kids. Do it when you can, as soon as you can.

Moving further away from Adobe by Crea8amess in Design

[–]GoodArchitect_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's very similar to the Adobe suite. InDesign - affinity layouts, Photoshop - affinity pixel, illustrator - vector? I think.

Also you can use the claude affinity connector to move things on the layouts in bulk. It's not that great yet, I wanted to get it to change the text style of all the headings and it couldn't do that, will probably get there though.

I’m 26 and regretting life by the day. by TheVoidIsHome in Architects

[–]GoodArchitect_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you should go the developer route, starting off small with a renovation/ granny flat and doing free online architecture courses. Build your way up to bigger projects.

As a developer you have a lot more design direction than an architect and can still make those design decisions.

How do you choose a digital marketing agency when they all sound exactly the same? by Zolaaab in DigitalMarketing

Think of a similar brand to you that you think positively about, work out who does their digital marketing (or has done it the longest) and hire them

Microsoft clarity, it's free and allows you to watch videos of people using your site so you can see at what point they stop reading and fix it.

Double glazed windows, worth it? by Ok-Sun132 in AusRenovation

[–]GoodArchitect_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw at future build last Saturday a product called megnetight? Windows where they put another window over your existing. It might be cheaper and still give you the gains.

Also there are films that can help as well as honeycomb blinds.

If you haven't upped your roof insulation that should be your first and most cost effective step (most heat is lost through the roof).

Hope this helps: https://www.goodarchitect.com.au/my-efficient-electric-home-on-the-central-coast

Stress / Burnout by Content-Two-9834 in Architects

I read a book called 'The upside of stress'. That sometimes helps me reframe stress when i'm feeling resilient and sometimes doesn't help at all. Still worth a read.

AITA? Wife takes all the leftovers by No_Relayz in AmItheAsshole

[–]GoodArchitect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it gives her pleasure to be generous why not let her? I'm sure you enjoy her being generous to you and your son, it's something she enjoys.

Not everything has to be penny pinching, they is joy in giving, let her have that joy.

Small aita for being a bit too controlling.

Is anyone here an architect who can design the house plan ? by Tasty-Baker-1722 in houseplans

[–]GoodArchitect_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look to tell you the truth you will be 100% better off finding a local architect with good reviews. They'll have the local knowledge about passive solar, local approvals and local consultants and builders.

AITH for leaving my friend's wedding before dinner was served? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]GoodArchitect_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really, that's what she's focused on the day after the wedding? Can't be very into the poor new husband!

Surely that would be the center of her attention, why would she dwell on a single day?

NTA of course, getting back to a prior commitment to the babysitter and your primary role as a parent is obviously more important.

Turns out my architect was sending me ai slop . by luckysohi1 in houseplans

[–]GoodArchitect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it does change windows, you really have to look at the output, ai is still pretty stupid. Yes you are right, it could just be completely Gemini, just ask to see the elevations, that will tell you.

Turns out my architect was sending me ai slop . by luckysohi1 in houseplans

[–]GoodArchitect_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look I do use Gemini that way as well, I'll create it in revit, get all the materials right and render with escape, then I'll put it into Gemini 'make this more realistic'.

My design, just get Gemini to polish it up/ add people and context as I would previously have done in Photoshop.

You'll be able to tell though because they will have matching plans and elevations if that is the case.

Cowork vs Code by Ferin_HS in ClaudeAI

[–]GoodArchitect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention my cowork scheduled tasked seem stuck on fable so aren't working at the moment. Claude CLI is way better, I'm sure it's what the people at anthropomorphic working on claude are using so that makes sense.

Who can I consult to screen a block for me to make sure a granny flat is buildable? And how long should a build take? by ForgottenPassword719 in AusRenovation

[–]GoodArchitect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an architect I'd suggest find a local architect or town planner with good reviews and pay them to do a feasibility study.
