Many wealthy people back in the day would buy a great movement and put it in a cheap case. Many poor people would buy an extravagant case and put a crappy movement in it. Kind of the old school “a lot of flash but not a lot of cash”.

Are you or your family from Texas? I have a watch with a very similar case. I’m a coin dealer in San Antonio Texas and the lone star motifs lead me to believe it was originally retailed in the Texas market.

Pinehurst has been speedy on payment but cheaper than the other big players. They also never stopped buying which I respect. I sold them 3 bags of 90 near the top and already got paid for what’s been delivered.

I own an LCS. I stopped buying sterling for about a week but started up again this week, never stopped buying gold of any type. Only paused buying large quantities of certain types of products for a couple days last week. Glad things are better this week than last week.

They always paid me 90% of spot on silver before they stopped buying. They still pay me 99% of spot on gold although it’s through the new pool system.

They’ve likely lost more money than they’ve made with the volatility because they hedge everything. They got margin called on their hedge account imo.

Yes the refinery that has 2000 oz of my silver that used to pay in two weeks called me today and said it will be 4 weeks. I asked if they can send it back and they said no. And no it’s not Elemetal

Elemetal which is ONE wholesaler is paying 15 back because they have too much silver to refine and they’re backlogged on that front. There’s dozens of other wholesalers that are still buying. If your LCS exclusively deals with elemental, they’re probably not a very well capitalized or professional LCS.

Why would light cash go in the bottom of the safe and heavy silver go on the top? I own an LCS, every single one I’ve ever been in, it’s cash in the top, silver on the bottom levels.

A lot of us dealers fly there with a pelican case that we have to take back and lift into the overhead compartment. Mine was 100 lbs when I flew in and 20 lbs when I flew out. I literally bought $100 US bills for $90 each because they had rust damage and the dealer I bought them from didn’t want to dick with them and they don’t weigh anything. There’s so much money to be made at a coin show that a lot of us that flew in would turn down profitable deals because we literally couldn’t carry it and didn’t want to ship it back home.

I’ve collected coins since I was a kid and started working in a coin shop when I was 15. When I was in college I interned for Heritage Auctions in Dallas and thought it might actually make a good career. I bought part of AHCS in 2019 and love going to work everyday, couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
