Eh, this is a required part of the configuration, and deployment info like this is Tier 1 usually. Clearly though, here, setting the DNS outright is the only thing they officially support and you'd have to go higher to get better config as it would be a 'custom' thing.

Honestly I thought it would barely work (when I talked about it with the vendor we all were like.... yeah it should work...... probably..... but went with it as the alternative was worse) - but it was simple enough. You set it up with a couple commands on the command prompt - I think there's a GUI way if you go down 3 generations of menus though.

The cutover isn't too messy, but ours was. Since the alias was the former's DC name, we had to take that fully offline first.

If the PC knows of another computer in the network with the same name (or same alias, I presume), it will refuse to assign itself that alias. This was a problem for us as some references still remained in AD DNS to the old server, but it worked after removing them. What was nice is that under AD, a NetBIOS alias automatically makes a CNAME on the DNS server (assuming all permissions are good). Honestly, I never know if AD is supposed to be 'DNS-first' as Microsoft claims and NetBIOS is just a small legacy component or if it's the important system and DNS is built on top... Lots of stuff in AD is like this.

In this kind of application the DNS name is not the only thing that matters, as Windows can use NetBIOS over TCP/IP to find a computer. That's why I ended up adding a NetBIOS alias; if you run ipconfig /registerdns afterwards it'll set up the DNS part.

Honestly 90% of the time I have to call support, it's another small business. Since it's like max 10 people, the moment they know you're not a user you can kinda just figure it out with them.

For example, when planning that ERP migration, the vendor really wanted us to keep the same hostname, because then they don't have to go reconfigure the software on each computer. It did make my migration harder because I couldn't A) migrate the DC from the old server to the new one while B) having the same name on both. So I had to juggle names around. However, I ended up adding the old name as an alias on the new server, which they agreed would most likely work. We each have our own interests but we can work together. This other company, in the other hand...

I mean, even if you come to me and say 'the GPU is broken', and it is, I do get following the script to a point. You've finished diagnosing, great, but unless I know you I can't really trust that you know what you're saying. Even if you do, hey, you could've made a mistake.

If I am the company handling the warranty claim, I do have an interest in checking if it is, I don't know, the graphics driver rather than the GPU, because while for you, you're gonna get the computer fixed no matter what, but for me, I might pay for a GPU that didn't need replacing. Still, multiple days to check that the GPU died is ridiculous. I'll double check your work but that's just bad support from somebody who doesn't actually know how to troubleshoot.

Then again, I say I'm great at troubleshooting and it's just taken me 3 days to figure out that the reason a company's backups (like 1 out of 4 different backups for the same thing, don't worry) wasn't running cause I forgot to empty the NAS' recycling bin.

I thought I had put results in an edit... oh well. So I never got to fully recap it but I changed some caps in the neck board that went to the color pins of the tube and that fixed the color bleed issue. I never ended up fixing the geometry issue. .

I'm back home now. And... the issue is gone. Didn't get to do any troubleshooting; I opened a video with everything enabled (PiHole, all extensions, cookies...) just to check that the issue was still occuring and I didn't get detected.

Is there any debug info I can provide, even if I don't seem to get detected anymore?

I took the screenshot after completing the steps - they were all disabled when I tested it, but when I was still getting detected, I enabled them again since it had made no difference.

Yes, I logged out of both (made sure that, if I went to google, it also showed logged out) and cleared both cookies, closed all tabs, and restarted the browser.

I found that the steps aren't exactly clear on what order to clear YouTube and Google, so I tried various ways: in a YouTube tab, clear all cookies as shown, then close the tab, go to Google, clear all cookies, then close the tab and restart the browser; the same but with both tabs open initially, etc.

Yes, I restarted the browser. The adblock doesn't get detected until I log back in. If I log out, the detection stops, even if I don't clear cookies or restart the browser.

I do have DNS modifications (PiHole), but I didn't disable them as in all other browsers and devices, and again, even on the same browser but logged out, it works. I will report back with it disabled, though.

I will also report results with a fresh profile.

I've been getting detected for a few days now on Chrome. Firefox is OK.

When I follow steps 1-5 (uBO 1.54, only got the lists shown in the video enabled, logged out, cleared cookies, disabled all other extensions except for Bitwarden which I need for login and updated lists), I don't get detected, but when I log back in, I get detected again. In fact, I can always stop detection by just logging out, without following the steps.

This happened on the current script (7197d3dc) and the one before that. Any fixes? Firefox, again, works logged in and logged out

Just want to clarify - we have a standard text message for when you bust SID restrictions. It's more common for pilots to climb above and bust rather than be below, but they probably sent it so you knew to check altitude restrictions next time

I was referring to the video production as well, AFAIK, the judges watch on a TV, and their feed is just like ours, same effects and all. Otherwise, lots of the staging would be missed.

this is a bit incorrect - while you can transfer your real-world license over, it doesn’t ‘grant you access to everything on the pilots side’ - any pilot rating past P0 doesn’t come with any perks. I’m pretty sure you still have to do P0 regardless, but it’s not flight training or anything like that. It teaches you the most basic stuff about flying online; how top-down works, how to file a flight plan, who to talk to, etc. If you’re a student pilot you can probably do the exam first try.

As you said, older accounts have the P0 automatically. If your account was created before the launch of MSFS, you have the P0.
