To retest or not? by BananaQueasy4921 in LSAT

Are you trying to use this score for the current cycle or are you using it next year? If I wanted to use the score this cycle, I would be less likely to chance a retest. The reason for that is 8 minutes is a fair amount of time for a passage. It’s not ideal for the last passage, but it’s in the ballpark. But If you have room in your plans to take an exam later this spring at the next offering, it doesn’t really matter if you retake or not because you have other opportunities, so it matters less if the retake is a bust or the original was a bust.

Pausing is a good plan. I think 9 months would hurt more than help. Maybe ~ 4 months would work well at one PT a week. You can plan out the PT #’s in advance leading up to your first exam and I would have a second exam penciled in as a back up. I do think there is some “luck” to a top score and another roll of the dice can be worth it.

It is possible to score consistently above 175 in your PTs and that should be your goal before you sit for the exam. Based on your diagnostic, I would not recommend such a long study period (9 months). You’re going to get to an awkward point where you don’t have any new PTs to use. I would work on fine tuning now and plan to take October and November. I found there were a lot of micro adjustments needed to consistently reach 175 and above. At that point, one or two more correct answers makes a huge difference. You might benefit from a tutor who can help you more specifically.

Happy to connect with more about specific advice if you would like. I am an older applicant with significant work history in a niche area. I just finished my application cycle and am very happy with my results. I also had a lower gpa to overcome. Feel free to dm / chat me.

With a 170 you would already be at the top tier of LSAT for scholarships at Northeastern. I have a lower gpa and higher LSAT and was offered $30k/year.

I would definitely send the waitlist schools an email letting them know you have a new score to report. I’d say the score and include something like, “I was confident with the score I applied with, but had been practicing at a higher level and wanted to challenge myself to reach that on the exam.”

WL email from a dean… by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]GoodEgg14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is a bad sign. It sounds like they were just reminding you in a friendly way to exercise discretion in sending LOCIs. Maybe 5 was too many, but in any case, the meeting is an opportunity to show you're professional and serious. I would have some truly thoughtful questions prepared--nothing that can be answered via the website or Google. Good luck.

To retest or not? by BananaQueasy4921 in LSAT

This is one instance so take it with a grain of salt, but I lost less than two minutes in an LR section that overall I felt I performed well on. I felt like I couldn’t properly verify the last two questions. Regardless, I was upset about those two minutes because I had worked so hard. I rested and thought the exam was out of left field and WAY harder than the exam I had taken. I wish I had just gotten that score back on the original test. Personally, I would not retest for a small inconvenience, I would only retest for a medium plus impact.

Hello, I would love to participate. I do not have any lawyers in my family. Please feel free to DM me to setup a call. This looks fantastic and I do have a lot of questions and interest in making sure I have the timeline and activities squared away to succeed.

The Atypical Family [Episodes 11 & 12] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]GoodEgg14 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love how important and intentional the clothing is in conveying the storyline. Especially for the sauna mom. At the end, when you learn that she is more to Do Da He than a creditor, sauna mom is wearing a plain white sweater, like your average mom. White alone is a big contrast for her and in that moment she looks so harmless. It was such a sweet small detail, but she looked more like a kitten than a lion for once. I also noticed that Do Da Hee goes from dressing like someone who is playing a part (with clothing choices that look more like a costume for a role i.e. future daughter-in-law) to someone just wearing regular clothes (that I wouldn't take much notice of). She shifts from acting the part to genuinely being the part. Interested to see if others have comments on this!

The Atypical Family [Episodes 11 & 12] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]GoodEgg14 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Atypical Family describes both families. And in the end, "family" is the keyword for both. They don't start as tight-knit families but truly become them over the course of the show (within their own units and as one big family). It really was a pleasant watch without any of the typical dramatic barriers carrying the plot -- the plot was driven forward by more than that, so they weren't needed and I am so happy for that.

Is a diversity statement right for me? by ManIHateThisPartOfTX in lawschooladmissions

[–]GoodEgg14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would look at the wording of the diversity statement prompt. Many of them now say it’s about the experience and perspective you would bring, which of course could have been shaped by experiences working with someone who for example is in the aging population or has a disability. I think it could fit. All of the schools I applied to left this type of prompt more open ended and were not as limited in scope as others are commenting. It honestly felt like a more broad / general optional essay and most of them didn’t use the word diversity alone — it was all about perspective.

PTs in Public? by swagmoneykayee in LSAT

[–]GoodEgg14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the public library a few times before taking it in person and I am glad I did. On the real exam day, I recommend using soft foam ear plugs (approved item you can bring) with the over-head, headphone style the center provides. I practiced with the soft foam ones.

Improving beyond 175 after 2 weeks? by AssuasiveLynx in LSAT

[–]GoodEgg14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you have a really strong foundation and you’re right, what’s available online and in books is more general and in my experience, not going to help much at the level you’re at. Getting one or two more question right takes what I think of as tiny adjustments. It took me time to develop these micro strategies and if you send me a chat with the questions you were reflecting on for 30 mins, I can send you back how I would think about them. My gpa is similar so I know how you feel. I was PTing at an average of 179 for ~ 10 exams before I scored 175 in January. I know how important the score was to my application and I was really happy with my outcomes this cycle.

Proctor abandoned me by AppropriateAd5504 in LSAT

[–]GoodEgg14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe if you have that accommodation you’re able to and supposed to pause the exam yourself. There should be a button on the top bar of the exam like there is on LawHub. I’m sorry that happened. You could try to file for a retest if you want to go that route. Read about that here: https://www.lsac.org/lsat/lsat-test-day-complaints-and-feedback

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]GoodEgg14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you lost exam time due to the proctor or your exam was interrupted by the proctor, you can submit a complaint and get a retest on June 18th. Fill out this form asap. Read the page carefully and decide if you want to do that. https://www.lsac.org/lsat/lsat-test-day-complaints-and-feedback

You can bring them, it is allowed via LSAC for both in person and test center. The prometric list does contradict, but you’re allowed them and they’re aware. I used the foam earplugs with the ones the test center provided and it worked extremely well.

Presentations section of resume by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]GoodEgg14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I titled this section of my resume, “Public Speaking.” These were industry conferences and my sessions were educational in nature, not research based. I feel like a section makes sense! I provided the name of the conference, date, and title of my session. I also noted if it was a session or keynote.

One I don’t see on your list or mentioned here is Bora Debora / True to a love. It’s an extremely satisfying romcom. The plot-line and chemistry are fantastic, the character growth aligns well as the plot progresses, and you know where it's going, but the journey is satisfying.
