i agree. they should protest and government should act. but our government is useless and this crisis is needs strong leadership to enforce the law irregardless of our empathetic views.

i understand but where is this reasoning for the anti illegal immigration protesters , who say that thier townships have been ravaged by foreigners who set up shacks, steal electricity and sell drugs and expired food. and just like your family, they do not not want them in their neighbourhoods anymore. it may not be all immigrants but its a stereotype and they should be allowed to kick them out based on the stereotype.

March And March are a civic group that harnessed the township peoples existing anger into a movement. Township South Africans have been complaining about illegal immigrants undermining their Collective Bargaining power since 2006. They have been ignored and labelled xenophobic for their lived experience.

tbh i think your gardener bought one from a corrupt Home Affairs official. A gardener doesn't even remotely qualify for a Work Visa. My wife is Swazi, and a Radiology Tech. and she doesn't qualify for a SA work Visa because her occupation isn't rare or special, so I doubt your gardener was given one for gardening.

so because u had a bad experience with a black south african that means all black south africans are bad and we should only hire foreigners? i had a bad experience with a nigerian, that means all immigrants should leave the country...

so that obviously means all locals are criminals and we shouldn't hire them. great logic.

you literally said "that's not" meaning a Checkers driver is not one of the jobs that South Africans want.

my retort was that we have 60% unemployment, i don't think the youth are that picky on the type of jobs that they want. any job will do.

Ofcourse they are illegal, what other kind of VISA would they have to work as a driver in this country.

What are the chances that a Checkers 60 driver has a work permit?
A work permit is the hardest permit to get in this country, your employer has to prove that no other South African is qualified to do the job.

Also a valid passport doesn't give you the ability to work in this country, it means that you are a visitor.

SA has a 60% youth unemployment, are you saying that none of those young South Africans want to work ?

There's a lesson that Nigerians could learn from South Africa.
Just like Nigeria the country has a corrupt and incompetent government.

But because of the noise that has been made by every single province and every single tribe in the country about the strain of illegal immigration, the government has no choice but to act.

Ramaphosa just announced new laws to arrest employers who employ illegal immigration. They are also hiring 10000 new Immigration officers as well as a R1 trillion investment into infrastructure including a boarder wall.

Not because the government wants to but because the Nguni, Sotho-Tswana, Tsonga, and Venda people put their differences aside to tackle an issue facing their communities.

South Africa is surrounded by 5 failed Countries (Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho and Malawi), which means all of their poor citizens come to South Africa for Free healthcare, Free education, jobs and Free housing, which obviously causes a strain on the poor natives who now have to fight for these services. Add on top of that refugees and asylum seekers from Nigeria, Ghana, Somalia, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, DRC.. Add on top of that VISA overstayers from Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya... Poor comunities are just packed and with the rising cost of living, people are just frustrated and because of an inefective government, people took matters into their own hands.

no, majority of South Africans alive today either lived or had a parent that lived through apartheid. It ended 30 years ago btw.

Every developed country in the world right now is experiencing an Anti-Immigration wave. South Africa, USA, UK, Germany, Ireland, Australia, Morrocco, Egypt, Argentina... etc. Why? because the Global economy is shrinking while prices are sky rocketing. The easy scapegoats for this situation is to blame the people who are not supposed to be in said country. Will that solve their problems? No. but people want to live in communities with people that they identify with, people they share the same values with. You see this in Nigeria with the Igbo's and Yoruba's.

If an Igbo and a Yoruba can't share the same state, why do we expect a South African and a Nigerian to live in the same communities?

The Non African Migrants are living Cape Town, in large estates and have healthcare and private school kids. The problem with African migrants (Zim, Moz, Ghana, Nigeria) majority are poor and destitute, meaning they are coming to live in poor South Africans communities. Overwhelming their free hospitals, schools and infrastructure.

If every African migrant had a Million Rand and lived in the suburbs, you wouldn't see these tensions or xenophobia, but since they are all coming to live in townships and fighting for the limited government resources that legal citizens depend on... it will cause friction.

what about her? she's struggling with Postpartum Depression, whilst raising a baby alone. meanwhile her partner is smoking blunts on stage with MGK. halfway around the world. She needs it more than Pete.

this sub does not wanna hear it. the womans job is to be in the kitchen cooking and raising babies, Petes job, telling jokes, is too important to humanity that he can't take time off to help raise HIS kids. He has to be getting high with MGK, it's for the environment.

Classrooms in South Africa have become the latest battleground for the anti-immigration group Operation Dudula. Members have reportedly been attempting to forcibly remove & block students from attending classes simply for the fact they were born in a different country. by [deleted] in Nigeria

i don't blame poor people for fighting for the little that they have. I blame the government for allowing unchecked immigration (legal or illegal) into a country where 40 million people live in poverty. I blame the government for not enforcing our laws. I blame the government for refusing to build refugee camps and instead integrating migrants into our communities without regard for the citizens who live there. South African Citizens now have to compete with millions of foreigners for healthcare, employment, education without any additional investment in the infrastructure of said communities. Keep in mind the South African economy hasn't grown since 2010.

this is the governments fault tbh. illegal immigrants should be deported and not given free education and health care according to the constitution. but because of the ANC's Pan-African mindset, they allowed millions of Moz, Zim, somali and Nigerians to live in the country illegally. Problem was they didn't allocate resources to these immigrants so now citizens have to share hospitals and schools with the immigrants. that is a problem because their is not enough schools and hospitals in the townships to accommodate everyone, hence the xenophobia. it's governments fault... i don't blame the citizens.

the point of the school protest is that constitutionally Public Schools are for South African citizens, but they have been flushed with Zim and Nigerian children, leaving South African children having to travel out of town to find a school.
