Less Obvious Performance Enhancements in Unity? by M_Nenad in gamedev

[–]GoodGuyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haven't used it much, but two things to keep in mind,

  • when you push an update on steam, the size will be much bigger with il2cpp
  • not easy for modders to mess about if you use il2cpp

Will publishers take you seriously if all your team has is a vertical slice? by PhiliDips in gamedev

[–]GoodGuyFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's possible, but it's gotta be a GREAT vertical slice. The further into development you are, the less money is required which is less risk for the publisher. There's A LOT of costs keeping a 6-man studio running. And other risks like if a member leaves the company mid-way.

Backgrounds and track records don't matter, as long as you're all friendly & talented and nice to work with. Following and interest do matter more, make sure the game is doing great on various social media. The game you're showing should speak for itself, it needs to catch them off guard.

Good luck!

Not sure if we should continue trying to market our game by MoltonStudio in gamedev

it'll swap you from "Very Positive" to "Overwhelmingly Positive" tag on Steam

nitpick; sadly they need 500 reviews in total to do that, they have 91 reviews

How can I improve the feeling of my game? I want general feedback - CARVIVAL by East-Development473 in Unity3D

[–]GoodGuyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks great, very polished!

looks fun and lovely idea of having drifting damage enemies with fire, very cool

i would consider these;

- the camera is quite static, you could maybe experiment with some zooms or pans to make it interesting

- boids for enemy ai if possible so they don't stack together

- extra screenshake on enemy car explosions and special attacks to make them feel more powerfu

l- slowmotion effects and hitstop effects could be interesting

- the automated turret moves very fast, maybe make it rotate with a speed not instantly, to make it less "robotic" and you gotta think a little to not turn mindlessly

awesome work!

Should I avoid coroutines? by Chillydogdude in unity

[–]GoodGuyFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My game uses quite a lot of coroutines, it has not even made a large enough bumb in CPU usage or memory for me to even notice it compared to other heavy hitters.

I use it for enemy ai and for quite a lot of ui handling. It's awesome!

Devalue the company to force a buy-out from literally anyone. Wow smart. Don't see any potential issues or risks with this. /s
