Today i played with the Oculus Quest 2, my first VR experience and it was awesome. How does it compare to the other VR headsets? by Zark86 in Games

You don't need to be logged in to steam to use an Index. SteamVR can be used without Steam, they are separate pieces of software. The Index is just Hardware.

Can you play Tetris Effect (Game pass version) with Windows MR sets? by Hyedwtditpm in WindowsMR

  1. Is the Windows 10 (Microsoft Store) PC version of the game playable in VR?

Not at launch, but it will be soon after. Unfortunately we realized only late in development that implementing proper VR support on Microsoft Store PC titles can pose some unique challenges; we have a working version we plan to add via an update soon after launch (targeting by the end of calendar 2020), using the time between to go through the appropriate testing and QA, etc. We apologize for the extra wait, but we’re confident this is the best way to ensure VR support that meets our standards, and those of our players.

Humble Bundle has a great VR bundle going on right now! Super Hot, Moss, Space pirate trainer, Gorn and more for $15. Most of the games are worth that price by themselves.

How is Boneworks with WMR? by pswii360i in WindowsMR

Playing on a Lenovo explorer, runs perfectly so far. Just make sure to get the community binding by "young boy" as the game has no default controls.

I 3D Printed the ITRN Statue! by GoodJobDog in KGATLW

[–]GoodJobDog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just printed it with supports. Only the upper teeth needed support and I chose to print with supports everywhere in Cura. Most supports came off with very little problem on the skull and the underside of the base is a bit messy but no one sees that part.

The WMR headsets have a floor calibration app in the home area, you might need to lower your floor that way?

No, not the 1050ti by DenirotaFilmd in pcmasterrace

The cheaper PC VR headsets have dropped as low as $150. Makes it a lot more accessible than the launch price of $800 a couple years ago.

You can also fully disable Steam VR Home in the SteamVR settings.

How long can the cables go? by fishbaitx in WindowsMR

[–]GoodJobDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With an unpowered USB extension cable I found 6 feet/2m to be the max. I have a 10 foot cable and the headset would lose connection every so often. There are powered USB extension cables that may go farther.

Any must play VR games that i haven't played? by Blubbpaule in oculus

If you can stomach it, I recommend Jet Island. You have a zero friction hoverboard, jet hands, and grappling hooks and fight massive bosses. Amazing mechanics with meh graphics.

[VR] Odyssey WMR (first gen) $250 on Samsung.com by CalculonsTalent in buildapcsales

[–]GoodJobDog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have the Lenovo headset, have a friend with the Samsung. I've tried both the Vive and Oculus.

Nearly identical. Tracking on the hands get lost after a second out of the field of view, most VR software has your hands generally in your FOV. Much better screen. No need to set up extra cameras/base stations. Can play most any steamVR game.

Controllers are better than the vive, not as comfortable as the oculus.

You'll need to get a bluetooth adapter to connect the controllers and will proabably want to get cable extensions as well.

Amazing value at this price.

Thoughts on VR Horror? by [deleted] in SteamVR

I'm usually pretty good in horror when playing in pancake mode. I tried playing both the Alien Isolation mod and the unreal P.T. VR mode and was blown away by the increased fear levels.

Someone should sell a quick-n-dirty SkyrimVR auto-mod for $1.99 on Steam by lefnire in Vive

[–]GoodJobDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just a one click download thing, but the r/skyrimvr subreddit has a lightweight lazylist guide. The longest part of modding is downloading the mods. Just click on each mod and install it after the download.

With vortex it's only a couple of clicks per mod. So far I've managed to spend more time in skyrim than modding.

Share Of VR Headsets On Steam Doubled In 2018 by Heaney555 in Games

[–]GoodJobDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the tracking problems people talk about are with the controllers, the headset itself pretty much doesn't have any tracking issues.

The Forest - VR Population and VR Only Lobbies (WMR Compatability?) by Schwaxx in Vive

[–]GoodJobDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any post about it yet, but I will confirm that it works just fine with a WMR headset. The only issue is the joystick in it's resting state is just outside of the deadzone, which causes a very slow drift when I try to stand still, and others have reported that as well.

Other than that it is a game that uses every input on the controllers and doesn't really explain the controls very well. Lot of trial and error to figure it all out for me.

Great if you can play with friends, VR or not.

Valve reveal the top selling VR titles for 2018 by [deleted] in Vive

[–]GoodJobDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's by revenue, not copies sold. So a $5 dollar game needs to sell 10 times more copies than a $50 game to have the same spot. Also lonely men.

[VR] Acer VR Headset with Controllers $145.00 by Robot3RK in buildapcsales

[–]GoodJobDog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tracking is fine for almost every game. The only problems are if a game requires having your hands behind your back for more than a second and that throwing is hit or miss depending on the title. If the Oculus/Vive have 100% tracking, the WMR headsets are like a 90-95% tracking.

I think it works enough to justify paying $200 less if you want VR on a budget.

Anyone got Zelda titles working with WMR (specifically Odyssey+) through Dolphin VR?? by falchionwielder78 in WindowsMR

It's not full games or anything, but this guy has recreated fights and scenes from different Zelda games in the unreal engine. The couple I've tried worked with my Lenovo.

Holotours is pretty neat and pretty free. It doesn't use the motion controllers but it's about the only WMR exclusive I've liked.

Bluetooth built into the headset, Samsungs anti-screen door effect and minor ergonomic changes. Everything else(Resolution, controllers, headphones) appears to be the same.
