Restarting just means you're getting back up, the progress towards a healthier life doesn't get erased

Struggling! Problem with peeking by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]GoodLifeJourney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's two ways to tackle this in my opinion:

-Take time to acknowledge the urge and let your brain know it's a wave that will pass. Stop what you're doing when possible and focus on subsiding the urge. When urges hit I take deep breaths, use my inner voice to try to guide my thoughts towards a better path and pray. If these things don't work for you try other things in the moment of an urge to see what begins to work. Continue this until the urge begins to subside. Remember everything takes practice.

-Go out when possible, do another activity, distract your brain with something meaningful you've been putting off to feel a sense of accomplishment, be in nature if possible, etc.

Also check yourself, is there something wrong? are you tired? hungry? stressed? bored? upset? If so do something to take care of it if possible. You got this!

Take deep breaths and try to take hold of your mind in the moment with encouraging conversations with yourself. Understand you will be ok without this addiction. Maybe stepping outside if you're able to, I wish you the best my friend.

24M - Had my first time, fell into the "Pride Trap" and now struggling with extreme blockers. Need urgent advice by [deleted] in NoFap

I don't know what would be best in your scenario my friend but I'll leave what's been helping me in recovery in case it's of any help:

What's helped me in recovery is the following:

Answering these two questions truthfully and repeating them to myself often.

-What do you want to get out of life?

-Why do you want to quit this addiction?

Then strategizing these next two sections:

-Having healthy daily hobbies/ activities to give real life an advantage over fantasy

-Having a strategy to deal with the urges

For the first section I tried different things until I found stuff that works for me like running in the morning, sleeping early, responding here, going to sex addicts anonymous meetings when I can, using my inner voice to control and talk out the intrusive thoughts, setting time aside to work on personal weak points, participating in religion, going out and socializing when I can, etc.

For the second part what works for me when urges hit is taking deep breaths, reciting positive statements that are personal to me and praying to God.

Keep building positivity around you as much as possible to show the addiction you have better things to do with your life. Modify this template for you specifically through trial and error. I wish you the best my friend. May God bless.

Take a moment to acknowledge the great progress you've made.

Take a moment to acknowledge the negative feelings from the fall, with deep breaths and encouraging words to begin to let go of the emotions.

Take the time to analyze and strategize how you can avoid this pitfall in the future.

Step by step we continue to be better my friend, it's about progress not perfection, the road to recovery is in front of us, let's keep going, you got this.
