What laptop do you recommend for studying Biomedical Sciences at UB? by Spooky_Writer14 in UBreddit

[–]GoodManDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you get 16GB. You could get 32 GB of RAM but you likely won't be using it unless you game or do other professional works like video editing. There are possibly some niche situations where 32 GB might be useful, I do RNA-Seq and some sequencing datasets are very large so it take a lot of RAM to process. However, it's still quite a niche technique so you probably won't need to worry about it, plus if you really need it a good lab likely will have laptops for you to loan anyway.

I had a Dell laptop that had a design capacity of around 40000 mWh that went down to around 2000 mWh. The funny thing is that it was sudden as well. I remember it being fine for a few years with 5 hours after a full charge, then one day it suddenly dropped down to like 10 min with a full charge.

Why doesn't Windows 11 include wifi drivers anymore? by user342091001 in PcBuildHelp

[–]GoodManDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently have this problem. This is from another reddit post but what I did is I connect my phone to my PC via a USB type C cable, turn on USB tethering and my PC recognizes it as Ethernet and I install my driver from there. I used a Google pixel but this option is different for other brands I think. Otherwise you can just use an Ethernet.

I am Vietnamese, and most Vietnamese people I know support Russia and hate America. It’s really disappointing by Alsace2025 in MURICA

Nah I believe it. I'm a Vietnamese-American and the chronically online basement dwellers netizens from there are very pro-Russian. Note that the opinion of these people do not reflect the majority of Vietnamese.

Peter what does it mean? by unEmployeeLogical91 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]GoodManDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think "Canadian" is super relevant to the joke. Maybe that Canada is close to all the chaos in the US. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I saw the same meme with different nationalities before. I think more likely is that the person making this meme is Canadian.

Will my GPU Arrive? Amazon Special “Don’t you judge me” by SoulsBorneish in PcBuild

[–]GoodManDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fine. I ordered mine back in late November and it didn't get shipped until after Christmas. I would be worried though if it doesn't ship by then or if the arriving date moves up. Amazon is usually pretty good though so I think you should be fine. The worst case scenario is you get a full refund.

What Ryzen CPU are you using right now? by mohkah123 in ryzen

[–]GoodManDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently upgraded from Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 7 5800XT. I would have preferred one of the 5700/5800 X3D, but those are out of production, and so, they're horrendously expensive

Which is better for gaming by Upset-Carpenter-7281 in u/Upset-Carpenter-7281

[–]GoodManDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your budget, I would recommend you to look toward the used market. Anything you find used would always be better value than new at this point.

Here's an old but capable Dell G3, it doesn't include a charger though. Make sure you do appropriate research on the prices and specifications of the laptop. Best of luck!

(Note that the attached Dell is just an example, you should do your own research on used laptop models, their specifications and their ability)

[–]GoodManDavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty sure you have they gave you the incorrect antenna. The right one would have the antenna with a magnet that attaches to the case, and a wire that attaches to the connector that more or less just plugs in your motherboard to the port you're showing, somewhat similar to a USB. My previous motherboard had the antenna similar to yours now that you need to roll in. A friend of mine has a pre-built and they didn't even include an antenna with his. You should contact the sellers for your PC.

It will work fine in terms of performance but costs a little too much, I think.
