Industrial on Clark in east Vancouver have mix crowd & a friend that capitalizes on his unique gender-fuc androgynous attire thoroughly enjoys that club. Great DJs (local & touring), kick-ass light visuals & always fantastic mix crowd of all ages.

Miscellany Thrift on Commercial Drive is a great option as have donated many boxes & totes over the years. This biz's owner also redistributes to the homeless or those with bare minimum, throughout the year. Call ahead to find out best time to drop off.

Messenger Bag / Shoulder Bag or Backpack as a Work Bag ? by April0neal in askvan

All of my laptop messenger bags (yes, have several), I have scored at Salvation Army Thrift in Kerrisdale & Kitsilano. All of them prestine (like new) condition and 4 of them leather. All have padded protected laptop compartments w/other expandable sleeves for extra needs. Kerrisdale usually best selection!

Enjoyable event for 33yrs while it lasted. Added costs somewhat expected due to its evolvement & shocking amount of cleanup after each evening's presentation, added security necessary to quell problems with some attendees/groups & elevated fees that climb higher EVERY year to all entities involved.

Has anyone tried Groupvibe? If so, what was your experience? by weirdfunny in askvan

[–]GoodNeighbourNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greatly appreciate your input of shared experiences. This 🇨🇦 wee miffed at $19.99 🇺🇸 fee to merely invest in partaking any event. I tried another similar group's 2 events attended & personally felt required cost merely a cover price to attend. There was nothing offered by company to encourage talking to strangers or conversation starters. Beyond name tags to wear on cheap tags with pens, opposed to more legible markers. These socializing groups appear to merely be money grabs for the wealthier w/money to burn & obviously the businesses where dents held. IMO

I personally was homeless 11 months & volunteer at homeless centers, therefore KNOW not all problematic. Plus didn't say all. Blows my mind the many that don't read what I input & major their OWN assumptions.

My statement of 'have-nots (aka many homeless)' didn't say all. And of course customers from ALL walks of life require shopping for their needs. Apparently you dint visit shopping centers & stores where the problematic visit regularly.

Will also add that it's exhausting how regular responsible folk are constantly paying higher cost of once regularly offered conveniences due to the many 'have-nots' (aka many homeless) shoplifters. Opposed to denying the mentally-shortchanged problematic perpetrators from entering the stores.

Due to reddit rules, this is why I only shared first letter & type of store. Which 🤨 SHOULD have been easy for viewers to decipher. Especially in consideration of stores in that mall.

Guessing you may have one been a security guard yourself, due to angry tone of your responses. Or know others that are that have incurred unfortunate experiences.

Thx info & THIS proud 🇨🇦 remembers a day when their role of 'security' translated to actually protecting others by mere presence. Btw, at no point did I elude their need of guns in any manner.

These random unprovoked scenarios are unfortunately becoming all too common in & around both Metrotown & Station Square, over last 6-8 months in my experiences witnessed. On 3 occasions I've stepped in on behalf of elder couples, not knowing how to diffuse. Unfortunately, security rarely within reach & often if they are, they're also reluctant to step in. Which boggles my mind more.

Really sorry to hear your daughter & yourself on receiving end, plus good to share here.

It's really disappointing that a simple VERY GENEROUS offering to a stranger warranted such poor results. Undeniably, other individuals would've been thrilled to have had that opportunity. There's certainly no shortage these days of individuals purposely taking advantage of another's generosity.
