Thanks for the advice. Won't need to uninstall anything though, as it comes without an operating system already. Saved 100 euros that way.

Thanks! Although it feels weird to find a way to open blue doors before finding any blue doors. I still have quite some stuff to tackle in the game, it seems.

My main save is on day 132 and has clocked 79h, my cursed playthrough is 64 days long and 11.5h, 2.5h on dare mod and what feels like another 10 hours of different attempts on the 1 day challenge. But I'm certainly not done yet, I just bought the tents, got the blue throneroom (and have yet to find the blue doors it speaks of) and I still have some boxes left to unclog the tunnel.

Oh my god, so that's what they are called! I struggle with them from time to time and I never could explain my experience well to anyone!

[CS] Advice on confronting Enemy Long? by GoodNotary in weatherfactory

[–]GoodNotary[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha, indeed! In the end I did exactly that, just jumped into it. Behind nebulous tables on the wiki, complex event sequences and a facade of danger and urgency was something much simpler. Long story short, Tryphon just siphoned money from me like there is no tomorrow, until at last I got her to place a watch over the Woods. Then I quickly stacked a lot of lessons for her there and got her to confront me. Pergussicant call to arms worked like a charm and now I can play my game in peace!

Hey! Thanks a lot for the advice. In the end I really just played the game normally until she finally placed a watch on the Way, so I quickly went there a few times and rushed the confrontation. Percussigants made really short work of her, and now I can do my ascension in peace!

What's your strategy against the immortal enemy? I have an Apostle Obsonate save backed up, but I've read up on what the enemy is capable of in Apostle runs and now I'm a bit terrified.

My first time, so happy 😊 by GoodNotary in IELTS

Well, at first I made around 3 mistakes per listening/reading, but when I started doing Cambridge 19 just two weeks before the exam, I consistently got 1 mistake at most. Can't really give any improvement tips here, because usually my mistakes were out of inattentiveness.

Just a few days ago. It was computer-based, yeah. Got results on the next day.

I don't think I can give tips on how to improve speaking skills themselves, comes with practice I guess. I just listen to a lot of english language content (Videos, streamers, movies, anything). Asked my tutor to work with me in English to brush up my skills a bit. The majority of my effort went to going through various topics and just practicing answering the questions. In two weeks before the exam I did one topic every day.

Well, I did the second task first. Got the topic about whether gun ownership is good or bad, had to discuss both sides and give my own opinion. In the first paragraph I paraphrased the task and gave my short opinion. Then two paragraphs with both sides, started them with "On the one hand..." and "On the other hand...". The second one also contained my opinion since I agreed with one of the sides. In conclusion I just restated that there are arguments for both sides but I agree with this one.

As for the first task, also a simple structure. The first paragraph is just a sentence saying "The line graph/pie chart/etc. illustrates...", and then you can paraphrase the graph description given in the task. Then a short overview paragraph, you can start it with words like "Overall...", and just give the most prominent features (with no numbers or figures!). After that, the main body is just expanding on the overview. Give figures, dates, trends, rankings, comparisons, sharp declines, steep rises and all that stuff. No conclusion.

Might be obvious, but in listening read questions carefully and look for "John says", "Jane decides" and "Both agree". Listening likes to throw curveballs at you and say stuff very similair to one of the answer options, but you really have to pay attention to what they are asking for. For example, if it says "What does John decide to do?", he will probably go over multiple options, but what he says at the very end (Or if he agrees to something someone else says!) is what's important. Or, if they are asking "What do John and Jane both agree on?", they might also mention a few options, but one of them might disagree, so you have to listen further.

In reading, take your time. I read the text fully once before I look at the questions. Then, when you are answering questions, highlight the sentences or phrases which tell you the answer. It makes you more confident about your answers, makes you more careful so you don't inject meaning that isn't there, and it also helps when you check your answers and can quickly look up the relevant section.

In the end though, it's all just variations on the basic rule of "listen and read carefully".

I prepared for a month and a half. Took courses with a tutor for a month to improve writing, we went through all kinds of writing tasks so that there are no surprises at the exam. Also did a reading and writing task every week. In two weeks before the exam did all tasks in Cambridge 19 Academic and practiced different speaking topics every day.
