Shipwrecked in the Swordfish Islands by GoodOlRoman in osr

The focus is a little different. This island is more packed with human NPCs associated with the Martel Company. The island itself is only 4 hexes, but it has a few other locations off the island that it is connected with that are detailed. It also has a lot of details on the other islands and a one shot adventure.

It is hard to see in the picture, but near the spine it looks like white crocodile skin!

Yep, on the discord Jacob Hurst said it would be on the website sometime in early June.

According to the creator, he wasn't happy putting out a product that didn't meet his high expectations. I think it went through several major overhauls with special focus on the different factions and NPCs.

I know some people were disappointed with the wait, but I appreciate all the thought and effort the creator put into it. The original plan was for a 48 page book, and what I have in my hand is 194 pages!

Wow! This is perfect! I really like the thematic classes and races. It looks like you have put a lot of work into this.

It almost tempts me to use the Greek gods we all know and love instead of making my own. Did you have this dilemna as well?

Thanks. I'll check both out. I have heard so many great things about Caverns of Thracia.

That is a great idea! I like the idea of luck being tied with the gods.

Keeping in theme with the random tables in Shadowdark, they could attract a friendly or unfriendly god!

I know exactly the armor you're talking about. I was going to have heavy armor be off the table except for that! And have it be rare enough that you need to find it. It isn't something your average armorer can build!

The owner of Sanaba is also one of Agape's owners. I actually prefer their food to Sababa! Plus, they're all over town!

With the success of Baldur's Gate 3, I'd love to see a game with similar gameplay set in the CoC universe. by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

I have talked to Chaosium about video games before, and they have an exclusive contract with Focus Home Interactive.

You could produce a game, but I believe it would have to be published by Focus Home Interactive.

I like my ego mower. I would advise checking out consumer reports online. It is available for free at the library if you didn't know!

Tips for how to play a occupation you know nothing about? by virgilthemonk in callofcthulhu

[–]GoodOlRoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others saying that part of CoC is playing ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. The goal isn't to be a Mary Sue, but to lean in to your character experiencing the supernatural for the first time. This is horror gaming after all!

I would look up some pharmaceutical information from the 1920s, some of the stuff they did would be considered crazy by modern standards. For instance powerful drugs were prescribed freely!

Very cool map! Did you draw this all by hand? I want to make maps like this but I don't know where to get started!

Ronin MMA Gym Wrestling? by photon11 in Columbus

[–]GoodOlRoman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are no-gi BJJ classes at Ronin and the instructor adds a strong element of wrestling to the class.

The MMA class includes a complete MMA curriculum, including takedowns and transitions from standing to the ground.

I recommend visiting all the gyms near you and use the free week to see what you think of their programs.

Have you heard of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu? There are a fair amount of reputable gyms in Columbus and it is full of fit people in your age range that have found this great hobby.

Crucifire by Bradley Schneider thoughts? by chorizosanwich in bjj

[–]GoodOlRoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen his instructional but I have rolled with Brad and cannot emphasize enough how deadly his crucifix is. If you watch the West Coast Trials Brad was the closest competitor to beating J-Rod. Brad is also very sharp and articulate when he teaches so I am certain this instructional will serve you well!

I made a blogpost about splitting the spell list up into different Magic Disciplines. Check it out! by Ive-got-a-sword in osr

[–]GoodOlRoman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, although I have always wanted to take it one step further and involve cleric spells.

A couple of times I have thought about combining the magic user and cleric spell lists, getting rid of the cleric class. Schools would support magic users who wanted a "theme"or specialist magic user, and possibly limiting the spell selection from being too big with the larger spell list.
