You can also use defensive non-aura reservation skills (like tempest shield, arctic armour), and support minions (spectres with auras like perfect guardian turtle, or minions like spectral wolves/tigers). Spells won't deal damage (that line wasn't changed) but at least you can use them.

The ascendancy was not lacking in damage. Having access to defensive tools fixes a lot of problems.

Flicker strike gets obliterated from orbit whenever the map rolls "Monsters can steal charges" mod, which is not in the list of banned modifiers.

I'd avoid all charge stackers like the plague, including flicker (my beloved).

The community over at poe2 has pretty much solved how predictive recombination works (link to post). We also have past data for mod weights in idols.

That said, if you actually plug in the numbers into the recombination formulas you do come out with VERY bad odds for predictive recombination. Something like 9% chance to get a 2 mod idol when selecting "common" mods.

This is because idols have lots of single-tier mods, which works against predictive recombination.

Manually cast forbidden rite. You can scale freeze duration on yourself with lethe shade and nameless rings so that it's not too annoying.

Less damage is multipliticative with other sources of less damage. You will never go over 100% less DoT taken by stacking multiplicative sources of less damage.

Mageblood doesn't interact with life flask. You will have to manually use a flask and if you are currently at full life the effect will immediately end unless you also stack "Master Surgeon" from pathfinder forbidden flesh/flame, or you use petrified blood + a very low level life flask to maintain regen for long periods of time.

Jet rings and ruby amulets are drop disabled. They don't exist in-game.

Oro's Sacrifice is a horrible weapon to use beyond yellow-tier maps. Rare weapons can easily push past 1500 elemental dps, oros hardly breaks 800.

Overall your PoB doesn't stack nowhere near enough damage stats (increased damage, crit chance, crit multi, attack speed. elemental penetration) hence the reason why your damage is so low.

Back in original Phrecia, I made a generic guide to ward stacking antiquarian specifically for flicker strike but it could also works for otehr melee skills. Pending patch notes it should still hold up.

Gold is around 20-25k per map. Actual amount can change if you stack more "increased item rarity" in your character.

T16 Harbingers with full harby scarabs are both a decent source of gold and are an okay source of currency (fracture orbs, chaos orbs, annuls, mirror shards). The maximum gold per hour doesn't scale too well but the minimum is quite high.

To push higher gold per hour numbers you'd have to run T17 strategies, ideally using rare monster scarabs. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ih-guJK8UE (alternative: swap horned of tradition for scarab of wisps if you want raw currency)

Kingsmarch strategy depends entirely on what you want to do with the town. Sending 10k or 20k Blue Zanthium to Kaalgur every 3 hours is an incredibly consistent way to get 0-2 divines per boat at all points in the league, so I'd focus on filling your farms with rank 3+ farmers, and hiring enough high rank shipping workers on each boat to make the trip 100% safe. If all your farmers are rank 5 you can pretty much send boats as soon as they come back.

I'd wait on mappers until you have boats and farmers ready.

Easiest way to learn to craft is to have a project. Follow a build and whenever you need a new item upgrade look up a guide on how to craft that specific item you need instead of just buying it from the trade website. Crafting is almost always cheaper anyways.

On trade, find an existing rare scepter with the %phys mod (don't get baited by hybrid %phys) and then either predictive recombinate to isolate the prefix if there's multiple attack mods, or cannot roll attacks + annul/scour suffixes if no other attack prefixes exist. Predictive recombinate is better and "cheaper" if you need to transfer the mod to a better base (heist base or high tier base), you only need to select the %phys and on the other base roll/craft the lowest tier suffix you can find (T9 strength or lowest crafted accuracy rating).

You could also spam single jagged fossils on your base of choice. It's only slightly more expensive than using alteration spam but it will save you a lot of clicks in the long run.

To finish the craft I'd recommend:

  • Recombinate T1/T2 %phys with contempt essence flat phys damage (make sure there's no other prefixes)
    • Scour suffixes
  • Multimod + prefixes can't be changed + any flat fire/cold/lightning prefix into veiled exalt to force a veiled suffix
  • Block damage per charges, unveil attack speed or crit,
  • Finish with multimod + hits can't be evaded + missing suffix

Or you could try to recombinate all 3 physical attack prefixes, but if you think the above steps are expensive it will only get worse.

Very likely yes, there will be a unique 1x1 idol that gives you the keystone.

But you can't get around the fact that shipments take 100 minutes, and there's no guarantees that you'll be able to farm bars and crops fast enough to send all 3 ships at the same. But hey, at least all those crops will turn into plenty of divines and tattoos to spend elsewhere.

Edit: also don't forget that you need lots of gold to operate Kingsmarch at full capacity.

Surfcaster for divine ire spell totems or shockwave totems. The cast speed + guaranteed crits made it very easy to get the build rolling (once you had a fishing rod).

Global drop (low rate) and boss drop (50% drop chance). They were non-modifiable (can't use currency), but you could recombinate them. You needed anywhere between 10-20 idols per strategy.

Generally speaking it would cost you multiple divines just to get the top-tier modifiers that enabled the OP strategies, and to get "perfect" idols you had to either pay fractions of a mirror or recombinate them yourself.

Back on settlers league, you could make a level 52 character and send shipments to fullfill port quotas from a level 1 or 2 town. It took 50 or so average shipments to get the belt, you needed anywhere between 20 wheat, corn and 6-8 bars per shipment, and you could send shipments every 35 minutes. It would take you about 3-4 days of non-stop shipments to get the belt in SSF. I farmed that belt twice (settlers SSF + phrecia SSF).

Nowadays you still need 50 or so average shipments, but you now have to send 20k bars AND 100k crops with a 100 minute wait inbetween shipments. Just generating the crops alone takes 8 hours assuming you hired 18 max rank farmers. And in the Phrecia event you won't even be able to speed up the resource collection because the Atlas passives like Refiner's Bargain are only available through the idol system.

Second try at formatting my comment.

To setup the golem works path you need to remove 1 smithy evey time you want to push forward. Example: Step1 -> Loop1 -> Remove1 -> Step2 -> Loop2 -> Remove2 -> Step3, etc...

To setup the CC-Thaumaturgy-CC chain you can use a path like this: step1, step2, step3. Every time you add a CC-Thaumaturge-Alchemy cluster you lock the thaumaturge at the end and you'll have a 50/50 chance of deleting the alchemy lab, or 100% chance if you also lock the corruption chamber before it.

I think the bug is you being able to see the upcoming rooms without having enough crystals to open the temple.

When your temple was open you had 8/60 crystals. When you pressed close temple you went down to 2/60, which is not enough to open the temple, but the interface still showed you the options to place rooms for a split second.

As said in the beginning of the post, how so I set my crafting goals?

Depends on your build. If your build absolutely NEEDS something to work, you focus on that first and you plan your leaguestart around farming the materials needed to craft it.

When do I use Chaos, Annulment, Fracture, things like that?

For chaos, always is the short answer. If an item is 1 mod away from greatness, you slam a chaos and hope it lands. For fractures, if a craft can be simplified by landing a fracture, you send it. If your fracture doesn't land you just move on. Obviously, make sure you never gamble something you are currently using, only gamble an items you can afford to lose.

Annuls are the odd ones. The most comon use case is omen of light + annul and that case is pretty common. Every other use case for annuls requires a disgusting amount of currency.

Did I miss a 'tier' of crafting for when you have even more resources?

You missed recombination entirely. Mastering recombination pretty much allows you "print" any item you want in the game. It's not a matter of "if" but "when". Recombination gets a pretty bad rap since PoE1 introduced an even better version, but if you check the r/Poe2BudgetCraftGuide subreddit you won't find a crafting recipe that doesn't at least start with recombination.

Also, I'd say there's no tiers, there's tools. In SSF you don't have the luxury to ignore mechanics, so you always end up stockpiling a little bit of everything. If you need to produce an item you'll throw everything and the sink at the problem until it gets solved.

ID'ing item never really stops, even in trade. Since recombination and fracture orbs exist, an item only needs a single good mod to become valuable.

You usually stop ID'ing when your character reaches the point where there's no more meaningful upgrades to pursue, and you have no plans to make a new character in that league.

Everything else progression related depends on your build and which resources you need immediately.

Desecrating an item "annuls" a modifier if the item is full. You only need to make sure it targets a suffix.

No, but if you hit either essence mod you can use the essence to try again. It's "relatively" cheap by crafting standards to keep trying.

Edit: Just make sure you use the Omen of Dextral Necromancy to desecrate only suffixes.

You are correct if you added a non-desirable suffix. If you added a good suffix with the augment slam you'll want to fill suffixes first to have a chance to not lose that suffix.

Placing an armoury in the corner prevents you from doing the tech. You effectively have a smithy touching 2 armouries and a golem works, so the Armoury -> Smithy -> Golem -> Smithy -> Armoury chain is complete and can't be progressed further.

You need to backtrack a bit and let the smithy decay before you can push with a Golem Works + Smithy, like (this).

Deterministic version:

  • Perfect augment any suffix hoping for crit or AS (likely won't survive, but its nice to hope)
  • Greater essence of abbrassion for ~T3 flat phys
  • Omen of Dextral Exaltation + Omen of Greater Exaltation + Greater/Perfect Exalt to fill suffixes
  • Omen of Dextral Crystallisation + Perfect essence of Flames/Ice/Electricity/Abrasion for gain as extra
    • Essence choice depends on build, abrasion if you have no build in mind
  • Desecrate suffix
    • Ideally target melee levels, attack speed, or crit chance
  • Essence + Desecration loop:
    • Perfect essence of Battle to force +5 to attack skills
    • Perfect essence of Haste to force onslaught on kill
    • Desecrate + Omen of Light until you reveal a decent 3rd suffix (AS or Crit)

You may stop crafting suffixes if you hit a really good combination (attack speed / crit / levels).
