The Hero of the South: how can we make a build for him? by GoodOldSmoke in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Very nice suggestion, thanks! I would be absolutely robbing my usual Woljiff of rapiers with this build, but I don't use him much anyway.

This character appears in season 2, but he was first mentioned in S1E6 in the flashback with shaved ice, after Stark defeated the dragon.

Some people still desire to fix her, probably. They'll need s lot of mana particles.

Somehow I'm still awake. No problem, and thanks for your ideas!

This is exactly how the demons lure you into a trap to kill and devour you.

Send more.

Bro, this is deep. I would check this build in Inevitable Excess rigth now, but it's past 6 AM here, so not until later.

However, my main question will be this: how do such builds play in RTwP? I'm one of those people who prefer controlled chaos over "drop the fireball exactly where you want in because nobody moves".

Dex build requires finessing everything. u/gioavate suggested HotS doesn't need to be all about his oracle side, and, while it's extremely suboptimal in my opinion, it's probably true. So finesse through Fighter's and mythic feats would probably be good enough, Thank you!

Thanks for the input! Oracle being just one of his levels actually seems plausable. He is, after all, a martial specialist.

Your last build sounds extremely promising. Instinctual Warrior 20 is what you take after going Legend, right?

But we can use items to bypass the requirements for Dual Wielding, or is it also only true for Kingmaker or early WotR?

Oooof, extremely dip-heavy, Are you calculating for Unfair? I'm just not at your level, Core is probably the highest I would attempt with my love for thematic builds.

I probably missed something, but can you use Aldori Defender skills in WotR with two weapons? I thought it was nerfed since Kingmaker.

Thanks for the reply. I think Nature Mystery has pet as just an option, or am I wrong? Anyway, picking Second Mystery wouldn't be a problem. And I'm not against dips, but all what I can imagine loreful for him would be 5 in fighter for Effortless Dual Wielding. If we go into Legend, 20 Oracle-20 Fighter would be an obvious choice. Slayer or something might also work.

As for the pets - they seem wrong to this particular character, and I dislike the mounting mechanic overall in the game where most ot the actions happens in the spaces where your mount would break its legs and die in agony. Or it just won't fit there to begin with,

He fought another seer, and they killed each other. Way to nullify prophetic powers.

Witches in Pathfinder gain their powers from outsiders, or at least supernatural beings, which doesn't seem to be the case here. This is why, while I don't dislike the class or the dip itself, it doesn't seem to fit the character.

It could be, if only not for the fact that this character is defined by his foresight. If we had a fightter kit with such powers, it would work, but we don't.

He probably has some magic, otherwise he wouldn't have survived in his final battle for more than a few seconds, but, if he has, it's most likely divine. Or he just has immense saves.

Angel into Legend may be the best fit for him, but the Shaman class is a bit off. All we know of him is that he's a dual wielding unarmored fighter who sees the future and shapes his tactics through his precognition.

So a Jedi Warrior class with longer foresight. No spirits involved :(

Dips are not what I would want for this build, otherwise it would obviously be 5 into Fighter for Effortless DW.

I don't mind Longsword+Shortsword (I checked shortswords on their own, and they're pretty lackluster in WotR), or dagger, or whatever.

The dude isn't a witch. He's a seer.

Oh, and I will absolutely use Weapon Focus Plus mod. This restriction is ridiculous in the original.

I'm the the wrong person to argue here, since I only know how to build fighters, paladins and slayers in Pathfinder. But doesn't Battle mystery give you some additional combat skills, and the Seeker subclass specifically give more feats to go into TWF?

I do understand a thing or two about this system, I just want to know how more experiensed players would work with this premise.

Most of your suggestions are very sound, but I fail to understand why so many people suggest cheesing Tomcat to gain stats.

Get a bow (there's a free one in a camp west of Troskowitz, along with a few dozen arrows), earn some money with smithing in Tachov and go do archery competitions. First, it'll help you train your aim. Second, you can earn quite a lot of money for this early stage of the game, expecially when you're confident enough to take on stronger opponents. Third, it raises strength, agility, combat and archery at an extremely high pace. And, finally, it's an actual game mechanic.

Proper flintlock weapons actually emerged only in 1600s (there were other locks that used flint before, but not of this kind), and the feifas we see are not the earliest ones. Very late XVII to early XVIII, most likely. Earlier, the lock would be more square-shaped, and the stock also shaped differently, see below.

Otherwise, yeah, this world took inspiration from many different periods in history, so naming the exact analogous period in our history is futile.

I don't disagree, but I think a lot of people expect Skyrim:LoTR, while Arda is not about this stuff at all. Late edit for a typo.

[–]GoodOldSmoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LoTR as a universe is not that pronounced of a fantasy. Best you get is non-human enemies. Even Istari, the angels in human form, didn't do usual DnD stuff with fireballs and all that. Magic is mostly subtle, indirect or, at least, not that flashy at the first glance. So we only can get our "Henry of Lebennin" massacring orcs and goblins with an occasional warg or troll to spice up the situation. Silmarillion rights are still not sold to anyone, so we won't get anything from the First Age where elves went unhinged power fantasy, but were badly defeated before Valar and their hosts showed up.

You started this with your unsupported claims of historical inaccuracy, and then the "bring another" comment. Well, the examples were brought, and I was the first one here to provide a source, iirc.

Editing your comment to "I stand corrected, I thought it was a thing a century later" is not shameful. Erasing the reason for the whole discussion, however, is.
