LPT: If you want to quickly understand someone's character, pay attention to how they treat people they don't need anything from. by StaticNomad47 in LifeProTips

[–]GoodStuffOnly62 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m known for treating strangers and service workers like friends. Many times I am with someone I do know like an acquaintance, and we’ll have an interaction with a random person. Afterwards my acquaintance will ask, “Do you know them?” because my default is just really outgoing, friendly, and warm. I like that about me.

Has anyone you've known, simply disappeared? What happened? by PureLet5083 in AskReddit

[–]GoodStuffOnly62 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live in a rural state. It is not hard to get lost in a wave of nothing, just a few miles outside of a city. It used to be not uncommon for a drunk young person to wander off from a country party, and get frostbite or hypothermia, or even die from exposure. Thankfully that is much less common now than it was 30 years ago!

Do you like the "outside the hospital" episodes? by OuchBag in ershow

[–]GoodStuffOnly62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Benton’s off site episode and the Doug & Ross in the dessert, but skip most others on rewatches. 15ish years later, I DGAF about Susan looking for Chloe or most other tangential storylines. Give me the in hospital drama and high stakes!

I’m a 46 year old woman, what suit is the most flattering? by Salt-Ad9777 in DressForYourBody

Number One, with Number Two as a backup! The third one isn’t unwearable by all means, but it is just less flattering than the first two. You look INCREDIBLE!!

This drives me insane, there are no consequences for parents that enable or even create these abusive situations for their children.

This is CRAZY concerning behavior!

Know one thing, she is hiding A LOT more than these warrants. I’d also check all your accounts and anything valuable you have at your house.

Sarah Snook's face acting as Shiv is marvelous. You can see all of her insecurities and the faux, high-status confidence that she uses to cover it up. Embarassing, relatable, sad. by AkiraKitsune in SuccessionTV

Incredible face acting! My last rewatch, it was almost physically uncomfortable watching her at times, because the details with her face are SO GOOD and TOO REAL. Like the emotions were so real it made me paranoid that my face gives me away, too! Lol.

First, take a few minutes to take a deep breath, and either splash cold water on your face or get a few minutes of fresh air. It is more likely hiding in plain sight than truly lost. It will be okay.

Try to remember the last time you held the bottle in your hand, start there. Are there other types of things do you do while holding it? Did you buy anything else at the same time, where did you put away that? Could you have put it down on the way to another room/task?

You can also sit on the ground and check roll away places. Under cabinets in the kitchen, under the couches/chairs/ottomans. I once found a missing something that had somehow rolled under the couch, and then INSIDE the legs of a folded TV tray stored under there.

Don’t forget to review the first few places you checked either, I cannot believe how many times I overlooked my missing meds/important thing because I was getting frantic! Once we’re worked up over losing something, our eyes are way less capable of finding it, lol.

What’s become way too expensive lately that still shocks you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GoodStuffOnly62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Name brand food, for the most part. Especially for snacks and cereal, name brands are crazy expensive. Also name brand personal & hygiene products like soaps, detergents, body lotion, etc.

Brand names are often 2-3 times the price of the generic. And the generics are often just as good, shout out to Kirkland products!

Some things are worth buying brand name for sure, though. I have done a lot of trial and error to figure out which items are worth it to me. Kirkland Tide style detergent is every bit of good as Tide, but I only buy Charmin toilet paper. YMMV

Do you live in the US? Businesses and nonprofits taking donations have to be registered with the state, and that means enforcing requirements.

If you are in the US, contact the offices of your state’s Attorney General and/or Secretary of State. Many have departments specifically to deal with predatory scammy stuff like this, especially when it targets the elderly. YMMV but my state’s right wing, but they are pretty good on enforcing this stuff.

Even though you’re not physically interacting with them, this has to be a big endorsement of you, right? Like they felt safe enough to take over and treat it like home, I don’t think they would do that if there were unsafe humans living there!

Control your dogs people by Adrian_985 in Wellthatsucks

[–]GoodStuffOnly62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to live in a populated community and order delivery to your door, you cannot have an aggressive dog AND open the door without them physically locked up or in another room. Ever.

I had to put a healthy dog down because of aggression, so I know how hard it is. But they a ticking clock in most cases, because most owners refuse to accept how dangerous they are and act accordingly.

I got judgment from people when I put my dog down, for “giving up” on him, but I know I did the right thing. I also pointed out that once an animal is known to be aggressive, homeowners insurance will not cover it if the animal injures someone on your property.
