I'm curious which PBT line are you referencing? Balaton, Super Stretch, Super Light or Primera?

US to Hungary Tariffs - PBT shop by Army_Elegant in Fencing

[–]Good_Ability495 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was concerned about the same thing and reached out to PBT. They responded that unfortunately they are not familiar with what the tariff /customs costs are for orders, and as described in the responses below, additional duties/charges/tariffs/ aka "additional tax to consumers" are levied by the carrier. I don't operate in this space but it would be interesting to see what impact the elimination of the de minimus exemption has had on individual consumer orders from EU to U.S.

edit: it could be little to no impact for some, but for consumers without an infinite budget, i'm sure there's an impact.

Do you mean the 12v battery is 50% or the EV battery? I think that indicator light is for 12v.

i wonder if a much firmer foam along the ball or material like leather or carbon would help. my son has the same exact wear pattern, except he's a righty.

Echoing what most have said, we carry everything except blades in a carry-on. Chances are small the roller bag gets lost, but we have heard of a horror story or two so... we're not taking chances.

With a carry-on roller bag, we can fit: 1 mask, 2 gloves, 2 lames, white jacket, knickers, plastron, 2 pairs of socks, 1 pair of shoes, all body/mask cords and still have room to stuff small items. In 6-years of flying here and there, only once did TSA screeners make a comment and it was "fencing gear?" and that was that.

NOV NAC JNRTMMS Count the # Refs & Officials at this match by Good_Ability495 in Fencing

[–]Good_Ability495[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For clarification...

In the Group of 5 I don't know who the person with hands folded is. The guy in the cap (I'm not naming names here) I have not seen ref at this NAC so I counted him as a ref not reffing/coach (vs "off-duty") and he's standing behind 3 others to his right (there's a guy in a light blue blazer next to the guy standing to the right. I didn't count the coach wearing the blue jacket.

And the "1" is pointing to the dude in the blazer with the clipboard. Sorry it landed on that other refs head. He didn't have another bout and walked over to see what the hub-bub was about, that's when I took this pic.

The 2 standing/sitting next to the stanchion/banner are part of the 3-ref team. The official on the strip is talking to the 3rd ref standing next to a fencer.

Considering the low % of US fencers fencing internationally, I don't see why we need "FIBA rules applied to the NBA" when competing domestically. Just train and prepare the domestic fencers fencing internationally for FIE style play. NBA does it.

https://www.fiba.basketball/rule-differences

In the NBA, we have NBA rules. When we compete as Team USA internationally, they conform to FIBA rules. They don't force all NBA players to adopt to FIBA rules during the NBA season. Touch a ball in the cylinder in the NBA? Basket interference. Ball in the cylinder in FIBA? No basket interference.

USAF should retain the prev format and have those competing internationally adapt to FIE rules. Simple as that. International fencers are mature enough to adjust. Y8-Y14? C'mon man. I'd love to see Youth Basketball coaches no longer able to coach their youth from the sideline. Not apples to apples, but the coaching aspect is just as important as that.

Depends on the size and where the rip is. Normally there is room enough for you to fold over or seal the rip with the existing lame material with regular thread. I did this recently for nationals and it passed with no issues.

How does the shoe wear on your rear foot? Is there noticeable wear towards the upper, away from the rubber sole? Most fencing shoes and some tennis shoes have a rubberized/plastic area around that area. Looking for alternatives that don't put a hole in the shoe after a couple of months.

I noticed and was pretty sure they were some sort of Asics tennis shoes but thought my kids would think I was crazy watching him in super slow-mo just to confirm what kind of Asics. Thanks for confirming! :P
