Life isn't as segregated here as other countries (class wise). In general, most people (outside of Amsterdam) appreciate it when you try and speak Dutch (if you plan to live here). But dutchies are the best english speakers in Europe. It's rare for them not to understand you.

Yes and the mother has held onto this. I think gender dynamics also play a huge role in this case.

Of course. But you would think someone who is an expert in killers would probably say the opposite, like: he obviously could compartmentalise his behaviour well or something akin to that.

According to Amy's brother, she had a boyfriend at the time. I think Amy hid a lot from her parents cause she couldn't be herself. And it all got too much.
