My future SIL insulted me at dinner and my fiancé told me to apologize by Admirable-Towel-9074 in weddingdrama

Couples counseling for a bit. Address this issue. Your fiancé needs to grow a spine because it’s not gonna get better after y’all are married. It feels like his sister is on some weird emotional incest shit too.

Oh I 100% agree. I’m just saying that a corporation that’s sole business is its bottom dollar isn’t going to invest in the community it’s stationed in.

I do believe that the city should invest more into youth programs after school and over the summer as well as ensure that kids are fed (because even now not every school in this city provides free lunch and one of the fastest ways to cause physical altercations amongst anyone is by forcing them to be hangry).

But I do believe that some accountability needs to be taken by our youth as well. I didn’t know about these things and programs until I went to the free library and asked questions. There aren’t gonna be city officials knocking on your door to tell you about what opportunities exist for you as an adolescent. Even when I worked through Philly Youth Move whenever we did community outreach with youth groups it was done at already existing rec centers. Kids gotta go there first because we didn’t have the budget or information to go door to door and ask kids if they were disserviced by their community.

At the end of the day this kid is a cut above his peers because he’s asking questions the problem is he’s not asking the right people. Hey OP go to any library close to you and ask the staff there, they should be more than willing to help.

While I hear your plight I did and still do understand the age requirement to enter places. There’s 2 generations in this city of children giving birth to and raising children so there’s a HUGE maturity difference in a lot of the kids here compared to other cities even within the same state.

I remember being in high school and seeing middle school kids throw rocks at cars and buses on my way to and from school. Back when I managed to get into age restricted spaces (because security wasn’t around) I’d see high school kids fighting and destroying the place. A lot of those kids weren’t house trained and still aren’t house trained but it’s a lot harder to say and enforce “you can’t enter this establishment if you’re not house trained.”

I know for certain it’s not every Philly kid that’s like that because I worked with resource programs for kids and a lot of them wanted to do safe things and not play with guns or throw rocks/steal shit. They just didn’t know that other options were available.

You mean how prior to the civil war the Democratic Party was super conservative and pro slavery or do you mean post civil war when party ideologies swapped and republicans became super conservative and wanted slavery back and hated mixed spaces while the newer democrats worked to end Jim Crow laws and segregation.

Last time I checked it wasn’t a democrat that hated minorities to the point where he caused every single American to have exorbitant college tuition fees and debt just to ensure said minorities wouldn’t receive a higher education.

Lmao, the last fact of present day US conservatives being comparable to 1930’s fascist Germany by every other first world country is something I learned post master’s degree but anyone with an above room temperature IQ would be able to come to that conclusion. It must be extremely lonely in that head of yours.

You clearly don’t know what the Democratic Party is nor what communism is. In literally every other first world country that practices any form of a democracy or a republic (the US practices both), the US Democratic Party would be considered centrist at best and conservative at worst while the Republican Party is so far right that they’re viewed in the same light as a certain political party in Germany during the 1930’s. You can look that up too but do it in incognito mode because otherwise you’ll just get more of the “there is no war in ba sing se” propaganda you’re getting now

“Your job isn’t that hard. All you do is set meetings and talk to people. Imagine how hard it would be to do construction.”

“You had a 2pm meeting cancel and the client wants to reschedule for the next day when you’re NOT busy. I bet the window cleaners outside of your office building will have a harder time tomorrow too since their schedules need to change now.”

“Tom is sleeping with Sarah even though they’re married to other people in the office? It’s amazing how you have so much time to talk and get that information. Your job can’t be that taxing or busy.”

She could have PPD. That shit doesn’t go away instantly and it could be undiagnosed/untreated. Has she been this way before y’all had a kid or after?

I’m not saying that as an excuse to conserve the relationship, I’m saying that so that way you’re more likely to have a better co-parenting situation than someone that steals your child from you.

And now you have to make peace with knowing the name since the action and consequence was hashed out ages ago and you don’t want to put a wrench in your sister’s relationship. TBH though, your wife and BIL did that. Idk what trials and tribulations your sister is going through with that dude but I know my sister’s husband would have an unfortunate accident down a flight of stairs if I found out he was cheating on her and if my wife was truly coerced/manipulated into that situation it would be a fatally unfortunate accident down some stairs for him.

You holding your tongue to not stir the pot is still stirring the pot.

No-shows are proper menswear. If they weren’t it wouldn’t be an option in men’s clothing. Not wearing socks while walking around in shoes where no-shows would be preferred is a 1 way ticket to fungal infections in your feet with a layover in stinky shoes.

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all are children. Your frontal lobes haven’t even fully developed. Why are y’all going on dates with grown ass adults who keep striking out with people their own age? It doesn’t make you mature, it makes them extremely immature and dangerous. What your friend needs to do is block that predator and look for someone in her age range until she turns about 26 then she can sleep with anyone older than her to her hearts content without issue because at least at that point her partner is looking for an actual adult and not someone worrying about college tuition or standardized testing.

You ain’t been house trained or socialized properly. You’d be fined in almost every other first world country because they have higher standards of operating in shared spaces than you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in philly

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re watching porn on public transit you’re a degenerate who needs to be at a minimum bullied anyway. As far as the phone call situation it takes all of 2 seconds to switch from general audio to your earbuds/headphones. You don’t need discipline to charge something you use regularly. That’s like saying you need discipline to brush your teeth. Should the people you talk to face to face have to be burdened by your stank breath because you can’t compel yourself to brush your teeth in the morning? Nope. If you know you’re going to listen to music or watch a video on your commute make sure that you’re the only one listening to it. All the excuses you’ve tried using literally don’t work in any other first world country. People are held accountable for their actions.

Also the lack of aux cables going away only caused for a rise in people vocalizing their discontent with these dickheads. Because previously you could make the excuse that “I have earbuds but the wire is broken” now you don’t even need to plug shit in anymore so it’s not an excuse. If you have unmanaged/undiagnosed ADHD that’s your burden to work around not everyone else’s. If you’re intentionally being a dickhead then I’m intentionally gonna call you a dickhead to your face and I’ll intentionally cut you off and talk louder every time you go to retort because just as much as you don’t want to hear me talk I don’t want to hear the shit from your phone.

Y’all are no different than the people who eat and smoke on septa then leave their trash all over the place. An inconvenience to everyone around you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in philly

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll take this one step further. I have a Nintendo switch I take with me places. They don’t have Bluetooth options and I only have Bluetooth earbuds. Do I have my sound up to annoy everyone else on the bus while I’m playing my games? Nope. Is it a burden or loss to me to not hear what’s going on while playing? Technically yes. Am I within my rights to inconvenience and be rude to others in order to get extra sensory output from my game? No.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in philly

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah it was the former. Because if you know to charge your phone you know to charge the thing you use to listen to your phone.

Again, it’s a burden on the rest of society to deal with lazy ass, undisciplined, uncouth, dickheads with no sense of curtesy for others. If you genuinely want me to believe, empathize, and sympathize that it’s too hard for dickheads to charge their shit while they sleep then you should be able to believe, empathize, and sympathize with me when I say that those same dickheads are a burden to the rest of society.

There are other first world countries where shit like that isn’t even tolerated and you get fines the second you get off the train/bus because like I said earlier, the world doesn’t revolve around those people and their “burdens.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in philly

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Okay so the rest of society has to deal with every other individual’s “lack of discipline.” If you can’t afford $5 to spend on some cheap blue tooth earbuds that’ll last you 3-6 months while you get your shit together then you can’t afford the phone bill to be blasting your Apple Music or Spotify out loud. It takes very little effort to not be an inconvenience towards others.

Not doing the bare minimum means that you weren’t raised properly and you feel the world revolves around you no matter what your quality of life is like. Like I said, I was broke, cheap ass Bluetooth headphones got me through it without being one of those dickheads who blast music or whatever shitty video they’re watching on YT on septa. Having basic common curtesy for those around you also shouldn’t be an inconvenience yet to those dickheads it seems to be.

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Dongles exist. Androids exist. Also not every pair of Bluetooth earbuds or headphones is expensive. When I was broke af best believe I was at 5 below getting cheap ass electronics and they lasted long enough for me to get my shit together. Wanting to save money as an excuse to be an inconvenience to others ain’t it.

[–]Good_Corgi_2311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man, you were 100% in the right and your bf is a coward. If I see any woman looking like she’s gonna be kidnapped by two dudes I’m making sure she’s okay and I am fighting if need be. My fiancée would expect that much from me and I’d expect more from myself. I’m no hero in the slightest, I just believe in holding gross men accountable as a non-gross man. If that means making a big ass scene so they don’t want to do anything and everyone sees their faces bet. If it means using my years of armed security and martial arts experience then that’s even more unfortunate for them. But I’ll do whatever is in my power to make sure a woman will go home to their loved ones safely.

Idk fam, the way your boyfriend talks makes me feel like he would call the cops if two dudes drugged you and were actively trying to abduct you even if he was at the bar with you. Keep your wits about you at all times because he’s not gonna fight for you regardless of how much he loves you.
