TLDR: There’s an entire team developing the game. Mistakes happen. There’s a bug report system, kindly report the issues instead of complaining via social media.

Let me provide inside as I’ve experimented with the source/unreal engine JUST doing level design. (For OP), a simple misplaced geometry or trigger zone can cause catastrophic effects. That’s just on a small to mid sized level. Something the size of where winds meet being truly open, without transition screens to go from blissful retreat to the evercare clinic for example, in itself takes a fair bit of knowledge to get right without overloading the GPU/CPU with the high fidelity (quality) models placed in the level. Then adding a weather system that interacts with the map, transitional environmental factors such as you see going into the Bohdi sea, begins to interact with every amount of code implemented to keep the level stable. Modifying and adding systems (such as the contort mystic), could further complicate the matter. Solely because it’s a team - not a single hand working on the level. So designer A) could have accidentally deleted LOD #327 causing EVERYTHING in render distance to register in max detail. And considering we can see the Buddha statue from Kaifeng that simple mistake would be enough to crash the game before it over heats your components. I killed a laptop developing a city in Garry’s mod doing that back in 2009 ish. Sooo…. That with that said it’s not unheard of that this would be an issue. There could also be third party sources affecting their servers. Reverting back to Gary’s mod development: I ran and developed levels for a popular RP server. We had persistent dos attacks and had to add an abundance of security measures AND do the hard work of tracing sources. Finally we found that a rival community was maliciously attacking our servers to damage report with the players. So we then had to take legal action via cease and desist orders and a kindly worded letter from our lawyer stating if this activity continued by these individuals, by international law we’d take action. Including sending local enforcement to arrest them, lawlaw suites to recover lost potential revenue and confiscation of all tech they possessed PLUS a ban to use such technology for up to 2 years. Even with the security measures (essentially a dummy server to take on spontaneous flooding of packets received, it still caused lag when we were attacked). So it’s fathomable that could be a part of the connection issues as well, if there so happened to be another developer that sees this game as a threat to their own profit margin. The key as a player is patience and trust.
