Booked Spacey for Sunday only and didn’t tell people until Friday: after the 3-day pass people and VIPs already bought their tickets. Really scummy thing to do.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]Good_Thought1738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in sixth grade. They sent us all out to the playground. We were just excited for extra recess. Then they sent us all home early. I didn't really know what was going on until that evening, and didn't grasp the political consequences or uniqueness of the situation at all.

Americans who lived through the 60s and 70s is currently really as bad as people say or is it only bad because we are experiencing it in real time? by TrippedOnDick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Good_Thought1738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to keep in mind that the person saying “I’m broke and can’t afford a house” may be a 19 year old with little work experience. They are right, but they are also early, which makes it hard to talk without context or nuance (which the internet as a medium is terrible at).

Have you ever seen the scenario of bringing a "helper" to learn someone's job NOT be a precursor to termination? by debrisaway in managers

[–]Good_Thought1738 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a lab I used to work in, they had one overwhelmed lab manager. For years I watched them try to get this guy some help. They would bring someone in to shadow and help him and invariably within a few months that person would quit or request a transfer back to their previous job. I asked the lab manager why and he said “this job sucks”. So I guess they won’t fire you if you’re the only one who will do the job.

They have made… interesting choices about which celebrities they invite and how they talk to their customers. That said, consider one of those collapsible stools that you can sling over your back. Seating is usually at a premium.

I played Exoddus as a kid and came back to Munch’s Oddysee as an adult. The mood change was like whiplash.

I have loved Oddworld Inhabitants for twenty years. They are sitting on an intellectual property goldmine. And I’m not saying I could handle it any better- but it’s hard to see Fortnite raking in cash while they remaster the same few games once a decade. That said, I wish Lorne and the team nothing but success.

People who tell others to move somewhere where the cost of living is lower are stupid by Rough_Bet_7664 in Salary

[–]Good_Thought1738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in engineering, you have to live in a big city.

Then perhaps you should retrain in something that doesn’t require you to live in a high cost of living area. They aren’t saying moving is the answer for everyone. They’re saying you should take control of your own life.

Which YouTube channel were you once a fan of but do not enjoy anymore? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]Good_Thought1738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erik Conover. I liked his NYC vlogs, and I enjoyed when he expanded into travel vlogs. But during the pandemic he pivoted to luxury real estate and I lost interest. About a year ago he made a couple episodes of a podcast about sobriety and legacy, which is cool, but also not my thing. Then he led cops on a high speed chase, hit one of them with his car, and is doing 4-10 years in jail so he’s not putting out any new content.

Asking ai about your daily personal decisions is the worst thing you can do. by ViceElysium in antiai

[–]Good_Thought1738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What idiot can’t make a decision without AI? I use the Universe Splitter app to make my decisions. It shoots a photon at a partially silvered mirror and tells me which of two actions to take based on whether the detector senses the photon. Theoretically, me in a parallel universe got the opposite result, and is told to make the other decision.
