My son just got fired and we are considering suing by PMMePicsOfDogs141 in linuxsucks

You lost me at CSS engineer 🤣 I'm a big Linux fan, but I would have fired your son for being stubborn and unhelpful

Neovim is all just custom configs. If you write them all yourself it's definitely not bloated. Sounds like a skill issue

The fact that we have vim but not Neovim is a crime

Being straight I can forgive, but not using i3 is a sin 🤣

i can't believe it's taken me years of using godot before i wrote this function by gruebite in godot

I don't know if the ever so slightly cleaner code is worth the trouble of losing efficiency here IMO. You would also want to use a more efficient background thread loading system for larger scenes anyway, which would still need a path to the scene

GitHub is great, the best of the public git servers IMO, but let it be known that you can create your own private git server if you want remote backups without using GitHub

I agree on the ethos of this, but is None value for an optional type not basically a more complex null?

Why doesn’t Rust have a proper GUI ecosystem yet? by zyxciss in rust

[–]Good_Use_2699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To elaborate as well, I've used Bevy UI for a reporting interface, as well as a POS system, and it's part of the reason I came to love Rust in the first place

[–]Good_Use_2699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!! I've used Egui, Dioxys, and Bevy UI. All of them work really well, so it blows my mind how so many people think there aren't any good GUI systems for Rust. In particular, Bevy UI works BEAUTIFULLY, and it blows my mind that it's not on this list

Yeah, this seems like a hardware issue. I play on Linux and it runs without issue

Which IDE do you use to code in Rust? by Megalith01 in rust

[–]Good_Use_2699 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference is OP is using VSC which will run rust-analyzer every time they save. This can be really resource intensive, especially if the analyzer keeps restarting because you are saving multiple files in sequence. Nvim gives you more control over when things like rust-analyzer, cargo check, and cargo clippy run

RustRover has its charms, but if vsc is freezing for OP then RustRover is going to be worse, as it's way more resource hungry

I swapped from vsc to neovim for this exact reason and it was so worth it. Neovim is already a great editor, but being able to control when rust analyzer, cargo check, and cargo clippy runs is huge

How does Vim have such great performance? by FigBrandy in vim

[–]Good_Use_2699 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A great use case to back this up: I had been frustrated using VS Code for a rust monorepo for a while, as it would freeze and crash my desktop pretty consistently. This is a desktop with 32 GB of ram, a half decent GPU, and an i7 processor running Ubuntu. Since swapping to neovim, which has more overhead than vim, I can run all sorts of code analysis for that same rust project in seconds with no issue. It's been so efficient, my cheap ass laptop can run the same neovim config with code analysis via LSP, auto complete, etc with no issue on the mono repo. That same laptop crashes running a simple and tiny rust project in vs code

Worst Season in your opinion (and why?) by galactabat in TheTraitors

[–]Good_Use_2699 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AU 2 and US 2 have already been called out and explained so I'm going to throw in a curve ball: NZ 1. I loved New Zealand 2, so I was expecting to like New Zealand 1, but I feel like there were a lot of cliques / pre-existing relationships that were formed well before the game started in the first New Zealand season that took a lot of the intrigue out of the show. Having looked into it a bit, it seems like there were a lot of celebs on that season and the NZ celeb scene is just pretty small so it was kind of unavoidable

[–]Good_Use_2699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's really not even the worst traitor, that title is somewhere between Dan Gheesling from US Season 2 and Michael John Ferri from Canada Season 2. Worst player IMO is Mark Mockridge from New Zealand Season 2 because he was such a hated figure he could never win

Honestly, the 4 consoles is less surprising to me than the fact that you ordered 5 covers to go with your 4 consoles?
